24- Just Crossed The Line
I realize that another post has already been started but I believe this needs to be pointed out. The show crossed the lines shooting Chapelle like that. IMHO they crossed the line of what violence should be shown. There are to many young and impressionable young minds out there for tv to be depicting this type of graphic violence. Case in point Columbine. This is not the 24 I used to like to watch.
|
They had a disclaimer, unfortunately the superbowl did not. Janet's booby is a 100x worse than a man getting shot execution style.
|
Viewer discretion was advised. If you have a problem with "graphic violence" why would you continue to watch?
And if anything, the people just randomly getting shot, like by Chase and the team, should be worse than what happened at the end. There people died with no consequences, at the end the death of Chappelle really made you feel sick because you didn't want to see him die. I'd rather kids see that kind of death than people getting mowed down like a video game. |
Awww ****. Why did I click on this thread. :(

YOu know what, now I'm pissed. You shoul've either forwarned that this was pertaining to tonight's show, or put it in spoilers.
|
To be honest, what really bothered me was the nonchalant way chase shot the guy coming out of the building. Bam, like he was turning off a TV set. I know a lot of people have been killed on this show but for some reason, that seemed.. I don't know, wrong.

Maybe you should have stopped watching after the russian roulette at the beginning of the season.
Plus they didn't even show it. They cut away. sheesh. It's a tv show, not the evening news. close thread. |
I think the original poster is just kidding around.
If not, I must comment on the camera angle of the scene. I wish they showed a close up of the shooting, the shot was so far away. |

with all due respect, the thread could have been posted in the other thread with a spoiler tag.
The rules are USE the spoiler tags till both coast have a chance to be on the equal playing ground. Edit: WRONG. If the show's aired on the East Coast, it's fair game for people to talk about without spoiler tags. West Coasters need to understand that and be careful. - Static |
(Point #4 contains a spoiler for the 4/18 episode)
1. What couldn't this have been put in the regular 24 thread? 2. Where are the spoiler tags? 3. Anybody knew what tonight's episode was about just got spoiled by your subject header alone. Spoiler:
5. Don't ever watch The Shield. Now THERE'S a show with balls. It's been a long time since I've added somebody to my ignore list. Congrats! You just made the cut. |
Yeah, this should have included SPOILER tags. Even if the original poster was obviously trolling. Actually, that's two strikes against him. Someone should fill his enema kit with red pepper.

As ive always known the rules here, you can go with out tags even right after the live east coast feed, as long as there is a warning about spoilers.

Hearing that in the preview, I assumed he was going to Spoiler:

Recall that most of us don't watch the previews here, for the precise reason that they are spoiler-filed.
The bottom line is that the guy broke several forum rules starting this thread, and he's been around long enough to know better. |
Don't worry people, he isn't dead. I just saw him on the Sopranos and he is alive and well. ;)

Thankfully you didn't ruin the show for me, but still, I have to say congrats on ruining one of the best hours of television for quite a few people. Bravo. :johnwoo: (Damn 24 for introducing me to violence!)
Here's a wild idea: If you have a problem with this stuff, then use the V-Chip for yourself. Set it to TV-G and you'll never have to see anything from the real world again. I just don't understand these people that argue this stupid topic over and over again. Why did the US ever mandate the V-Chip and ratings system if they still want to censor stuff? And why do people continue to bitch about "impressionable" minds watching this stuff when it would take ten seconds to set up any television bought in the last 10 years from blocking things like this? There's more violence in the nightly news than we saw on 24 tonight, so I guess people wouldn't have much to watch if they actually set the V-Chip to block "unsuitable" content... |

I thought this thread was going to be about 24 taking Arrested Development away from us tonight.
Confounded! |
Does Jack think by fulfilling the terrorist's demand by killing a guy will stop the terrorist from further demands? Won't the terrorist just keep making more and more demands after that?

• scott27 • I don't necessarily buy this part of the argument. With all the twists in the show's history, this thread could have been about a different plot point that "crossed the line." On Friday, a friend of mine asked me what would happen tonight, and I said essentially what I just typed above. He got defensive that I dismissed the unpredictability of the show so quickly, giving me a bunch of reasons what happened tonight wouldn't happen. I expect to hear from him tomorrow. All that being said, for those who just sit back and enjoy and don't overanalyze the show as I do (I realize I'm in a very tiny minority with my opinion of the show), this thread is completely unnecessary given the weekly thread and potentially very spoilerific. Just because you don't think it's important doesn't mean you can't show some respect for those who do. As for the "crossing the line," you know the show's content, you know its rating, you were warned before the episode ran. Must they wipe your ass too? And forgive me for laughing at this comment: "This is not the 24 I used to like to watch." You must be referring to the 2001 Czech documentary, because nothing's changed with this television series. das |
How exactly was it graphic? It didn't show any blood or his head exploding. It was a long shot and the guy just fell down. The people bleeding in the hotel is much more graphic. The guys guarding the apartment getting shot was much more graphic.
