MTV's I Want A Famous Face

I am now convinced that we are on the path to armageddon after watching the episode where the girl wanted to look like Britney Spears.

She was a Spears impersonator who had a marketing team that decided that getting surgery would help her carreer. More troubling to me was that the head of this marketing said that he would stage paparazzi at one of her impersonation gig and that the firm would, "Help show the rest of the world the star she was."

Talk about the industry of narcissism! What is going on when people who not in any danger and are young choose to have elective cosmetic surgery!?

Truly sad times...

tsohg 04-04-04 04:17 PM

Those people have some serious problems. I am srprised that these "doctor" even agree to do the surgery when it's clear to see they are crazy.

Did you see the one with the wannabe Brad Pitt twins? They spent all that $$$ and they didn't even look like him and the one guy still didn't get any love from the girl he was in love with. They should have took a fraction of that money and bought a real good acne medication.

Brain Stew 04-04-04 04:33 PM

I saw a little of that one and to me, their episode was really telling of plastic surgery.

Have ever heard the audio engineering term, "Garbage in, garbage out"? The surgeon is not a miracleworker, he can only improve upon the existing features. It only makes sense that you cannot go from Sloth (from the Goonies) to Brad Pitt.

To me, unless you are the victim of a disfiguring accident or are morbidly obese there is no reason for plastic surgeon. But, I suppose I am not down with the plizzastic sizzurgery like my fellow youngsters...

The ep with the chick that lost 170 lbs and wanted to look like Kate Winslet was rough.

She had a lot of skin left over and the part where you saw the nurse walking away with a big messy blob was just plain sick. (I didn't watch the whole ep, but I happened to click back to the channel as that was happening.)

But it helped her body image. I can see someone asking for that, but to have it to look like to someone else is just twisted.

Rypro 525 04-04-04 04:54 PM

some of this stuff sounds like a nip tuck episode.

MrX 04-04-04 07:43 PM

No network profits off the stupid like MTV.

I couldn't help but laugh during the Brad Pitt episode. The homoerotic poses they had them in for the headshots were priceless:lol:

The Britney Spears chick was just as sad. "Me and Britney have a lot in common, her favorite color is blue and my favorite color is blue"rotfl

I like how MTV always throws the "plastic surgery gone wrong" person who regrets doing so.

Of course it is only a couple of seconds for MTV to be "responsible" and then back to the fun of plastic surgery.

Cheddarmuff 04-04-04 08:43 PM

Just saw this for the first time yesterday....holy people with problems... The Kate Winslet "look alike" or look nothing alike... What goes through these people's minds... :hscratch:

boredsilly 04-04-04 08:48 PM

This show is really sad. The Brad Pitt Twins really need to get some help. How sick is it that the parent's probably paid for all that work? Not to mention they didn't really look all that different after it was all said and done.

I'm not against someone wanting plastic surgery to make themselves feel better about themselves, but like others have mention to do it just to look some someone else is just...well sad.

Draven 04-04-04 09:23 PM

Why are you all watching the show? That's exactly what MTV wants you to do.

I saw the ads, I knew what the premise was and I stayed away. If everyone did that these shows would go away.

It's like complaining about people who rubberneck on the freeway while you are slowing down to look at the accident.

I see no problems with minor cosmetic surgery. I would do it if there was something I was seriously upset about and thought it was relatively safe. (And the money).

But, other than my weight, I'm relatively happy with my looks. Though, even some dental work could be considered "cosmetic surgery." I think there is definately a line though, and while I haven't seen this show, it seems like these people are crossing it.

Any before/after pics on the web? I'll be damned if I'll actually watch this. ;)

Ralph Wiggum 04-05-04 11:43 PM

It's okay to watch as long as you aren't a Nielsen house and/or don't buy any products from the sponsors. ;)

That said, these people have all been exceptionally vain, feeble human beings.

kermite 04-06-04 12:03 AM

The twin's surgeries actually costed them $0. MTV helped them research the plastic surgeons and they did it for free. I read that in the latest PEOPLE.

FuzzyBallz 04-06-04 12:40 AM

You do realize MTV came up w/ the show to make fun of people who are just plain sad. This show makes me sick. Fat people who can't control their eating, turns into fat asses, and wants 200 lbs of fat suck out of them makes me sick. They should really just shoot drown themselves by jumping off some pier then have the fishes finish them off.

Dabaomb 04-06-04 01:04 AM

tonight's episode was nice.

some 19 year old girl, Sha, wanted to be a playboy model. She wanted to look like Pam Anderson. She looked pretty good before the surgery (implants, lip injections, and removing fat from the chin). She just needed to lose a lil weight which she did after the surgery.

The rack that they gave that girl was ridiculous. She'll definitely have back problems in the future.

that girl was cute before the surgery. nothing wrong with her.. except the whole pam anderson obession. :)

Yeah that was disturbing, they are freakin brothers and they had them laying on top of each other in homoerotic poses.

The bad part was, they went through all that work and never once mentioned or made any indication that they were going to change what they needed to change most... their complexions. I can gaurantee that was their number one problem with the ladies.

The two of them were really spoiled brats too, one was yelling at his mom when she was trying to help him post surgery.

Yeah that deserves another rotfl

tofu 04-06-04 08:53 AM

It was interesting when the girl with the Pam Anderson obsession, Sha, walked into the playboy rep's house and the only thing that they playboy rep could say was "those are huge!!"

Patman 04-06-04 08:56 AM

Pics?

The Video Dead 04-06-04 09:10 AM

I enjoy most mtv shows but this show is kinda sad. Like the other night when the girl wanted to look like Pamela Anderson and got a boob job. She was cute the way she was with a nice handful of breasts. To me it's all about attention and fame those 2 things will make a human being do extreme things.

LiquidSky 04-06-04 12:11 PM

I cannot wait until next week: a twelve year old girl who wants to look like Bea Arthur.

QuikSilver 04-06-04 04:35 PM

I can't wait to see next weeks episode where the "girl" wants to look like Jennifer Lopez. I read somewhere that the "girl" was orginally a guy. Should be an interesting episode.

"Bad call, Sha. It was a bad call."
