The Shield 3/23

Great episode. I was disappointed with the last 2 episodes, but this one felt a lot more like one of the amazing Season 1 episodes.

Tony Dvdfan 03-23-04 11:04 PM

While i liked the episode, i felt it was not as "edge of your seat" as the first two had been. Still a great episode, next week looks real tense.

Groucho 03-23-04 11:05 PM

More Danny! She's kind of been lost in the shuffle.

MrX 03-23-04 11:19 PM

Good episode

It took me about half the episode to realize the prostitute was Glynis(Luke's nerdy girlfriend) from Joan of Arcadia-eek- Talk about a completly different character.

Haha, that's hilarious. I thought she looked a little familiar. She does such a horrible job on Joan imo though.

 @ Dutch taking a pic of his "unit" the look on Claudettte's face was priceless

Patman 03-24-04 12:20 AM

I did a bustout LOL when Dutchboy admitted to providing his own in the penile lineup.

The gun-in-the-mouth scene was so raw and distasteful.

Derrich 03-24-04 12:23 AM

Mackey is the best character on TV today. Him vs Tony Soprano would be great. I like how he say right through the prostitute and wasn't fooled for a second. Even I was feeling bad for her after a while, but mackey was right, she was trouble waiting to happen.

I hate Shanes GF.

Static Cling 03-24-04 12:34 AM

Does anyone think Cletus's girlfriend... oops, fiancee... is completely playing him for a fool? In the span of two months, she's gotten him to cough up money for a car and get him to propose to her. I'm thinking she's either not pregnant, or it's someone else's.

Has there been anything to indicate that the dead prostitute's kid is also Vic's, other than the fact that he's very interested in him? It could just be him feeling partially responsible that he's motherless, though.

I knew Dutch screwed up when he mentioned that old lady's neighbor by name was the one who saw him peeking into the old lady's house.

What was the importance of the storyline with Danny busting the insurance scammer or whatever he was? To further show how Julian is shutting her out?

It also continues the storyline from last season about her interest in becoming a detective.

Static Cling 03-24-04 12:54 AM

Thanks.

Oh, anyone else notice the similarity between the guy's toy... "ass invader" and "Aceveda?" :)

She dropped the Polaroid pretty quickly, too.

DJ_Spyder 03-24-04 09:07 AM

In regards to Brian I was thinking the same thing could it be Vic's? Time will only tell it appears that the tension will pick-up between the strike team and the decoy squad. I just hope that Shawn Ryan gives Danny's character more to do that just leave her out in the cold so to speak. Is it just me or is Shane being make a fool of by her GF she already tricked him in getting a Lexus for her and now she tells him that she is pregnant and it's obvious he wants to do the right thing and marry her that situation kind of reminds me of a fisherman when they have the hooks in you all they have to do is reel you in and that is exactly what is happening in Shane's case.

Derrich 03-24-04 09:26 AM

She aint pregnant. She wanted to move in. Shane was actually smart and said that it was a little too fast. Thats when she went into overdrive and pulled out every trick in the book, culminating in the 'I'm Pregnant' just as Shane was kicking her out. Bam, he's hooked. Now all she's gotta do is get pregnant in the next couple of weeks. I wonder if Vic is gonna go ballistic or just accept Shane's decision?

I see Vic hooking up with the hottie from the decoy squad pretty soon, too.

Patman 03-24-04 09:34 AM

You know, the actress that played the angry hooker is pretty good at playing a hooker, but horrible at playing an awkward teenager on "Joan of Arcadia". :D

I agree with you that chick was also on the Wire my second favorite show on TV. :) This season has been great so far.

Patman 03-24-04 10:43 AM

I need a scorecard to keep up with all the new characters and which team they really play for.

the narrator 03-24-04 11:04 AM

I liked this episode...I agree that Shane's gf is just playing him for something as soon as she announced she was pregnant I was convinced she is faking it

Jonny2k1 03-24-04 11:15 AM

I think Shane's girlfriend is just playing him too. She got a car, a new apartment and a fiancé out of the deal so far. Brian could very well be Vic's kid, he has always had some interest in him. I never did fully understand his relationship with that hooker.

mikewendt 03-24-04 11:21 AM

Chiklis is the f//king man!!!

I'm watching a tape of last nights episode as I type this and was gonna post at the end, but I had to interject...

Just passed the scene with the hooker in the ally w/the gun in her mouth... GOD DAMN! That was som of the most intense acting I've seen in a long time. The whole "you need to be scared of me" thing had my skin crawling...

F//king awsome... Plain and simple...

mikewendt 03-24-04 11:58 AM

Just finished... Great episode! By far the best show on TV right now...

mikehunt 03-24-04 12:17 PM

I want to watch some episodes of the Commish again. to see the comparison

Cusm 03-24-04 12:55 PM

I am glad they put the money train on the side this episode. I really enjoy some of the episodes where they are just badass cops walking dangerously close to the line, like tonight.

Patman 03-24-04 01:58 PM

The thing about the gun-in-the-mouth scene was that it made me think of Brandon Lee and how stranger things have happened on movie sets. I hope they used a totally non-functional prop gun for the scene, but it was convincing enough at the time.

Believe me, they took every possible precaution. Including the most important one: making sure this was the last scene the girl filmed.
