Arrested Development (03/14)

Man, this show is great.

That joke with the little Korean kid never gets old.

Achtung 03-14-04 10:51 PM

Glad to see the kid picking up a little English... hopefully they develop his character a bit.

Also the game of "chicken"
The feds stealing the folder of mementos
The Bluth employees taking the bus to Catalina

So many great moments on this show.

Groucho 03-14-04 10:53 PM

Gotta love the recurring "Footloose" theme.

Jadzia 03-14-04 11:04 PM

Did anyone else notice the picture of the little girl on James Lipton's desk? She looked like a Klingon.

Achtung 03-14-04 11:09 PM

I think they've done a phenomenal job of guest-casting on this show... Liza Minelli, Carl Weathers, Heather Graham, and now James Lipton. All seemed to fit perfectly in their roles. :)

Deftones 03-14-04 11:11 PM

Yeah, I forgot to mention James Lipton. That was a great surprise as Warden.

MrX 03-15-04 12:13 AM

Tobias getting sold for a pack of cigarettes:lol:

dcprules 03-15-04 12:49 AM

Great episode, as always (this is such a reliable show). Did anyone catch what day the special 9:30 episode is after American Idol this week? Since Idol is on like Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday or something, I missed it.

Guess that went over my head. Lindsey's boardroom comment, the game of chicken. Anything else?

I loved the yamulka. "This will protect you", then the guy gets a crowbar to the head

This was probably the weakest episode of the season, and it was still pretty good.

Off topic: I was thinking, wouldn't a flashback show be fun? Normally they just suck (Raymond, Friends), but imagine the potential of a show back one or two years before the pilot with everyone living high on the hog and Michael in the dumps and totally ignored. I would really be interested in that. Doubt it would ever happen, though as I can't imagine how it could fit into the show's narrative tone.

This episode was brilliant... I laughed my ass off... love this show.

"the cleansing of the pipe..."

Did anyone watch the ad for the special Wednesday night show? To avoid spoilers, I won't comment on the content of the clips shown, but the ad featured A LAUGH TRACK. WTF?

I hope that was just added to the ad and is not part of the episode itself. I was thinking it would be just like Fox to run this show on a "very special night" and add a crappy laugh track to see if does better ratings-wise.

Groucho 03-15-04 10:29 AM

It's possible that the episode has an added laugh track as a joke.

I thought the same thing. Still enjoyed the hell out of it though.

Breakfast with Girls 03-15-04 06:02 PM

This is the only show on television that con consistantly make me crack up throughout the show.

The prison check-in for actors

Even the little moments, like when the guy hit the sign at the entrance of the contruction site and the family all getting into the trailer behind the truck on the preview for next week just had me rolling.

Patman 03-15-04 09:22 PM

Love the way they set up all different character bits at the start of an episode and then come through with a fairly cohesive ending that rarely ever misses the mark.

Patman 03-15-04 09:23 PM

BTW, there's a mini-Arrested Development marathon on FX on Sunday 3/21/04 where they'll show the first 6 episodes starting at 2:30 p.m. EST.

Deftones 03-15-04 09:26 PM

I was also thinking back to last night's episode, and I remembered that I laughed alot when Gob was trying to drive his Segway up the little hills at the construction site.

shawagg 03-16-04 02:13 AM

Dude I'm laughing just reading about it.

I love that the mom drove all over town looking for Lucy so she could put the groceries away.

And the running sheep gag.

What's up with the feds, idiots!

Oh and the sand castle kids.

Great show, I just hope Fox doesn't drop it for "Marry My Ex-Husband and not the gay guy or the Hilton sisters will kick you in the nads with a midget groom"

Morf 03-16-04 07:48 AM

I loved the far shot of the banana stand when Michael shows up, and you can see a little "Hello" appear just above Anyong. Hilarious.

That's great to hear, Patman! Thanks!!! I got interested in this show during the New Year's marathon- I'll definitely be Tivo-ing this marathon!!

AD has become one of the few shows my wife and I actually look forward to watching each week. Can't wait for a DVD!!!

There are a lot of those little, Simpsons-esque sight gags on this show. It's definitely very different from any other comedy out there.
