Wait a minute…Paris Hilton being unknown is a reason why the ‘90s ruled????

Today I watched part of the final "101 Reasons the '90s Ruled" special on E! and saw something shockingly idiotic:

The fact that Paris Hilton was not famous in the 1990s was the #9 reason why the 1990s ruled.

WHAT?????

How the hell can someone nobody heard of in the 1990s be part of any 1990s list? Just because she is world-famous when this list was put together? And it's more important than 90 events that actually occurred in the 1990s decade??

I tried posting this message on eonline.com, but I kept getting an error message (without telling me what the error is):

I noticed that the fact that Paris Hilton was not famous made your "101 Reasons the '90s Ruled" list. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the point of the list was to showcase what people were talking about and experiencing during the 1990s. How can someone who would become famous AFTER the 1990s be ranked in a 1990s list?

Are you telling me that you couldn't find 101 positive aspects of the entire 10 year span between 1990 and 1999 that you had to go into the NEXT decade to find a reason why the 1990s were so great?

Maybe in a few years when someone else becomes famous, we can update this list ("What was life like before [celebrity name] became famous?") and bump off something that ACTUALY HAPPENED in the 1990s.
I realize there are more important things to be upset about, but this is just inexcusable.

E! sucks, and those Top X of Y shows are horrible and always wrong.

The 90s did not rule....therefore the entire list is worthless and stupid...as are these kind of shows in general - ESPECIALLY from E!

I'll wait for VH1's I Love the '90s in which VH1 can score B-list and C-list celebrities and not D-list and F-list celebrities like E!.

Seriously. Who the **** are half these people on E!'s specials? I've seen a lot of television shows and movies, I know my music; but seriously... who the **** are these people?

For some reason, E! got Allison Sweeney involved. For that, I thank them. Seeing her without having to watch a soap opera is reason enough for this dumb little special to exist.

I really enjoyed VH1's "I Love the 70s" and both "I Love the 80s" specials, but I wonder if the whole nostalgia craze is getting overdone. Soon they'll run out of ideas and resort to "I Kinda Liked the First Half of the 00s".

About the only comedian I recognized on the E! show was Kathy Griffin, and that was not a good thing.

I loved the second half of the 90s...

Man, good good times. PC Gaming was great and inovative, I was happy, the internet was not quite as full of stupid people... I could download as many mp3s as I wanted, and didn't get crap for doing it... it was before 9/11... the economy was better...

You won't have to wait long. It's in production right now.

I would say they ruled because "reality tv" was still confined to MTV and not on every channel.

I think it was an inside joke, considering E! is almost single-handedly responsible for putting Paris Hilton on the map.

Probably because everyone is sick of her and it was better when we didn't have to hear about her back then.

sorry, but how could they not include "pulp fiction" as one of the reasons the 90's ruled.

54: MTV As You've Never Seen It Before

What - you mean after they stopped playing music?

Fool Brittania: Mike Myers Is Austin Powers

Whoops - they put this on the wrong list. This belongs on the 101 reasons the 90's SUCKED ASS!

Everything achieves a sense of balance:

More Paris now + Invention of ReplayTV = no Paris now.

You guys are acting as though this E! list is official or scientific. Let it go. You'll feel better.

I think it is because it is so idiotic that we are so involved with that stupid airheaded Hilton who is so undeserving of any attention whatsoever.

Or maybe that is just my own view.
