Ed -- "Happily Ever After" 02.06.2004

Happily Ever After

The fourth-season finale finally sees Ed and Carol tie the knot, and the bride-to-be suggests it be tied onto a circus theme. Prior to the ceremony, there are bachelor-bachelorette parties and Warren makes a video for the couple.
Happily.

Ever.

After.

Posted my thoughts in the other thread, but to summarize, hated Cheswick, loved Shirleys song and conversation with Carol, and thought that the use of photos at the end was a nice touch (especially the random ones, like Mike and Ed).

not only did was this the last ed, but then they had to run a promo to apply for the next "apprentice" i f'in hate nbc.

Shirley was great this episode. Loved the song and her showing up with Mask at the bachelorette party.

The last $10 bet was good

Taking a shot at Coupling in the opening:thumbsup:

Carol in the circus outfit:drool: Nancy and Stella should have been in the same thing

I liked the photos at the end too:(

i haven't watched much of this show this season (it was on at the same time as smallville, my fav. show), and Ed just seemed to lose it this season. However, since I used to love this show, I watched tonight's final episode. I thought the whole circus thing was dumb, but that's Ed for ya. I liked everything that was mentioned above. Warren's part wasn't really that funny, nowhere near his past stuff....

but what i laughed the hardest at was when Mike was drunk and giving the speech to ed. I was crackin up laughing out loud. Wow, that was hilarious.

overall, pretty good episode...ended it nicely.

Goodbye, Ed (and the whole Stuckeyville crew), we'll miss ya!

Good episode and a touching montage to close out the series.

The lottery plotline was a head-scratcher, it didn't fit in at all with the episode. Then again, the charm of Phil Stubbs was totally ruined with the arrival of Eli.

Cheswick did a great impression of Ed.

It's been said many many times, but it bears repeating. IT'S A DAMN SHAME WHEN A QUALITY SHOW LIKE "ED" GETS CANCELLED TO MAKE ROOM FOR INSIPID REALITY SHOWS.

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye...

It was great to see Carol get involved in the $10 bet

That kiss between Warren and Mark went on 2 beats too long. :)

dstrauss 02-07-04 07:56 AM

Warren did do a pretty good impression of Ed's mannerisms and facial expressions, though.

I forgot to tape this one damn it. Anyone know where I can see it?

I was so sad while watching this last night. I always get like that when shows that I like end and last night was no exception.

All in all, it was a decent finale. Not one that will spark my memory when I think back on this show, but it served a fitting ending to all the Stuckeyville characters.

I'm still a bit sad though. :(

Shirley may have had one of the greatest performances ever for a character in a series finale - that was amazing.

I liked the inclusion of Carol in the $10 dollar bet, too.

The Coupling comment got a good chuckle out of me as well.

Circus Carol = hmm, hmmm, hmmmm..........

I also enjoyed Phil's Reverend of the ChurchoftheUniverse.com spiel.

All in all - a pretty good finale.

I really liked the picture montage at the end.

And only fitting that the final word spoken on Ed was...

Spoiler:
Camel

Okay, why is that fitting?

Sorry, just got around to watching this yesterday. I thought the episode was ok. The still photo stuff at the end was great.

There were some things that were average about it. I thought the episode was kind of rushed. Like "oh crap", we've got to sum up everything in 48 minutes. Hurry...let's get it done.

But I really did enjoy Ed's speech at the end in the bowling alley. I can't remember it word for word, but something to the extent of finding happiness around friends and family.

A great show that should have gone on for a few more seasons. We'll miss you Ed.

The speech was about how Ed felt that there are times in life where 'what is' and 'what should be' are the same.

Unfortunately for us fans of the show, now is NOT one of those times.

I was watching a rerun of Gilmore Girls on the Up network and saw a promo for Ed reruns starting Sunday Jan. 10 at 4pm Eastern time. So set your DVRs if you want to start rewatching this. I don't think it's available anywhere else.

Has it ever been shown again anywhere since it ended? I don't recall ever seeing it on any channel, which i always found odd...

Or has it been on any streaming service? Amazon? Netflix? Funny because my daughter is watching The Flash and Tom Cavenaugh is in it. She was watching it yesterday and I saw him and my first reaction was "Hey, it's Ed!" She had no idea what I was talking about. I miss that show.

People were clamoring for Ed on DVD, but music rights made it prohibitively expensive. And obviously now, unless some streaming service picks it up, there's no way to really see it.

TBS ran it weekdays at noon right after it ended for a few months, I'd watch it during my lunch.

I hope someday we get a DVD release for Ed. Right now I'm stuck with a box of VHS recordings.

One of my favorite shows ever.
