Do you have CNBC? They are replaying the Apprentice episodes, it looks like at 10pm Eastern Friday and 3 hours later at 1am Eastern Saturday.

What I don't understand about Apprentice is that tonight's episode, thanks to NBC's goofball scheduling, starts at 8:42 and ends at 9:59. The repeats on CNBC run for only an hour. What's up with that?

atari2600 - if you have cable, CNBC is your answer. If you don't, go with CBS and say F-You to NBC and their goofball scheduling antics.

Definitely Survivor!!!

Groucho 02-05-04 02:08 PM

Apprentice is the better show, but if you can pick up the repeats on CNBC you can just grab it there.

Tape Survivor, NBC will more than likely play the Apprentice again.

just checked, and tonight's episode of the Apprentice is scheduled to re-air on NBC next Wed at 8pm.

excellent advice people! thanks!

I like the Apprentice better than Survivor but NBC repeats the Apprentice on CNBC and everyweek on Wednesdays on NBC.

Roto 02-05-04 05:29 PM

I can't watch the Apprentice. It pushed out two of my favorite shows from their regular timeslots. How the hell can they move Scrubs and Ed for one show? They have plenty of crappy shows they can just cancel.

POWERBOMB 02-05-04 10:35 PM

I'd say skip'em both and tape Smackdown!

auto 02-06-04 02:23 PM

No brainer.

Survivor!!!

Having seen both (3 tivos = 5 available tuners) I would say that The Apprentice was the more entertaining last night. If it wasn't re-aired, it would have been the one to tape, IMHO.

Downside: Actually, CSI was surprisingly good (not a slam, it is one of my favorite shows, but this one broke the usual pattern as the antiquities story unfolded). So recording the "extended" Apprentice would have caused someone to miss CSI as well.

So, recording Survivor + CSI + the encore Apprentice is the obvious best solution. Now, without reairings, it would be a tough call for me to decide whether to have taped the CBS two hours vs. the NBC 1.25 hours.

I asked this yesterday but nobody answered. Is it safe to assume to that the encores of Apprentice are edited down versions?

After seeing last night's episode, I'm going to guess they'd have to be. There wasn't an abnormal amount of commericials.

I didn't time it (I wonder if I deleted it), but if they chopped down the "previously on...", they could get there in a hurry. Almost the first 2 minutes were the end of the previous show. My TiVo was on minute 9:00 before any new content started. -rolleyes-

Also, I remember some out of place little speech by "The Donald" that could be removed, as well as cutting down the trip to Yankee Stadium (it felt like they showed the whole drive in real time ;)). Also, it seems like each commercial break was a solid 7 clicks of the "30 second skip". Perhaps CNBC wouldn't have as many programs to whore as NBC during sweeps (though I may be wrong). If edited correctly, they could easily get this to 44 minutes of content without sacrificing much.

As a matter of fact, I got the feeling that what WAS added for the "supersizing" was scooped up off the cutting room floor. ;)

There are a few scenes that could be whittled...
Spoiler:
But dear god, don't cut out the pigeons! ;)

Well I'm fortunate that I watched CNBC's airing live last night. It ran over by 10 minutes. If people are relying on recording the CNBC reruns in the future (when the original showing is more than an hour), you better pad your recordings.

Wow... That is surprisingly stupid of them. Especially given NBC's exact "9:59" start times on the main network.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:16 PM.
