American Idol - Season 3 - Audition Night 4

Hollywood/San Francisco

I almost fell off the couch when Hoang (She Bang) did his 90 seconds of singing standup.

I didn't think the cheerleader singing the Whitney Houston song sounded all that hot, but she was fairly attractive.

I nominate his performance as the best moment in American Idol's history.

I also thought Cowell/Jackson were relentless during the whole show especially to the guy that screwed up the million dollar question.

My kids started wathcing AI this season purely for the comedic value, and I must say that was some very funny stuff at the end.

And I agree about the cheerleader, both accounts.
But then I didn't think any of those they showed were that good. Has it always been like this?

You know, that Hoang guy was bad, but not as bad as others. He just looked funny. I thought he kept the rhythm and pacing of the song pretty good, and moved pretty funky. He is in no way as bad as the loser who did the madonna like a virgin song. Hoang was TONS better, I thought.

I guess there was no Chicago tryout this year? I didn't hear anything about it, but then again, I never did look for it.

Loved how Simon dismissed the guy who answered his "What would you do with the $1 million?" question with BS.

I liked when that girl was singing the song with the line "and I surrender" and Simon goes "So do I, now get out".

I know the show is open to everyone, but I really feel bad for the contestants who have really thick accents. There is no way in hell they'll ever be let through, and they end up just getting laughed at. Hoang was pretty funny though. No formal training, REALLY?

There were some hotties showing up during this show. I thought the little person wasn't as good of singer as they made her out to be. She had this really weird inflection in her voice that made it sound like she was doing it intentionally.

Tonight's show is from Oahu. I wonder if they will show Triumph the Insult Comic Dog getting kicked out of the venue.

I know-- that guy was clueless. I mean, a guy from a record company offers to give you a million dollars, I think the first thing you need "to do with it" is, uh, MAKE A RECORD.

I would also disqualify anyone who said that they would give their winnings to charity. Gotta love that!

You won't want to watch much more of the show if this was your reason for tuning in. Once they get to Hollywood, the comedy factor pretty much plummets and the "drama factor" increases.

Contestant (after failing horribly): Can I do something else for you?

Simon: Leave!

He did the same thing to that other "retro" girl, and she answered it correctly saying she wanted a car. I thought that was cool.

And that guy had a really good voice, too. He was dismissed purely for the BS answer. And I loved it!!

Actually, I didn't think that guy (with the BS answer) had all that good of a voice, he sang so damn slow, it was annoying.

It went downhill for him as soon as he said "I did great!" after Simon said "you did good." That's why Simon asked him the question because he was too full of himself. His teeth were scary anyway.

That last singer was unbelievable. I dont think I have ever laughed so hard in my life. It was like he had a whole boy band dance routine worked out or something. Thats what had me laughing the most I think. The way he was moving his arms and body around...it was funny as hell. To bad American Idol cant be this way for the entire season.

I might have been amused by the She Bang guy, had Fox not showed that clip 17,000 times in the last two weeks.

I liked that little fella. He wasn't a good singer obviously, but he was energetic and very happy to be there.

It was very touching when Bao's father told of coming from Indo-China to make a better life for his children, and then Bao makes the cut.

Funniest moment: One camera films a guy who just made it through, while another camera films Gtoe (?) as he leaves in disgust, reacting to the celebration.

I wonder how far the buckethead football player will go. He was the one who sang Just Once whiles his brother listened at the door. Booming voice.

He was a dick. He assumed he was gonna make the cut before he even sang. And when he did sing, it made me wanna puke the way he paused between words. Hahahah, I loved it!!!

I can't wait until they have something like Disco or Dance song night. I have a feeling he's going to be very Ruben-esque and try to get by just singing big ballads. I hope he'll have to do a fast song at some point so we can all see him bust some moves. White guys dancing is usually good for a laugh. Remember Clay hip-thrusting to "Grease" in red leather?

Speaking as a singer with a lot of performance experience and training (classical and non-classical), I have to agree with this one. I've seen MUCH worse. Hoang at least stayed on key the whole time he sang, which is more than I can say for a lot of people, he never went sharp or flat (while moving, which is not easy). He just looked funny, and the song was totally wrong for him, and there was nothing special to his tone, no vibrato, etc.

I think the most horrendous singer was the Bulgarian Subwoofer

Boy, with Scooter Girl running around and the Midget emulating Mariah Carey, this could start resembling the backdoor cast auditions for a Fellini movie.
