Poll: What Do You Think of Whoopi?
I've enjoyed the show Whoopi since it first debuted. What are some of your thoughts on the show?
I've never seen it because generally I can't stand Whoopi.
Seen it once. Once was enough.
I am not a big fan of Whoopi Goldberg so I've never had any interest in tuning into the show
Whoopi is basically just the black version of Will & Grace where you throw out the "gayism" for "balckism".
I HATE WHOOPI!!!!!!!!!!!
I love balckism!
Balki is back on the air?
"Cousin Larry!!!" |
I wish...
As a small child I always thought he was saying "Carson". |
Carson is back on the air?
Yep
I've never been a fan of Whoopi and I don't care for her politics. In spite of that, I like the show. It's funnier than most sitcoms and her Persian handyman has a good chemistry with her.
I love Whoopi but haven't seen her show. I don't even know when it airs.
I don't even know when it airs. Whoopi's a big loser. She even admits it in her most recent t.v. commercials for Slim Fast. |
When I think of Woopi Goldberg, I'm like :yack:
Never seen it.
I don't know too much about her politics but I love the show. I missed the pilot and was hoping to catch it during reruns, but they didn't air it.
I also think the Persian Handyman, Nasim, and she have great chemistry and do well together. |

Agree with the Goose and the returning Goddess: it's a surprisingly funny show, but then I've never had the carnal hatred of Whoopi that some people have. It's also a fairly unique show which, in this age of clone network programming, is rather refreshing at times.

Yea, I don't hate her. I have seen her stand up twice and she's absolutely hysterical.
das - I was going to ask you this. What's the deal with Rita? Glenn was telling me her character is a wigger? Can you elaborate on that? Is that irritating to you or do you find her funny? Courtney reminds me of Carlton from Fresh Prince. And that just kills me. |
Elaborate on the term "wigger"? Not a particularly nice word, but it's a subculture of Whites that go over the top acting like some near cartoonish urban Black stereotype, the "w" standing for "white." I find the contrast between Rita and Carlton pretty funny, and I love how Whoopi makes fun of Rita's attempts to act like a sista', but Rita by herself is just annoying. In fact anyone who acts that way is annoying. Still, I love that they have the guts to satirize such cartoonish behavior, since there are many people who do in fact act just like that.

Okay, sorry, didn't mean to say a naughty word. Do you feel they're doing this to push the envelope? You're not the first person to say they find her annoying. I knew kids who were white that grew up in the "hood" and they do kind of talk that way. I thought it was because of the environment. They talked like the kids they hung out with. Mavis' reaction to her is just too funny. I love when Rita said to her, "Do you like my new gear? Isn't it fly?" Her response, "Horse fly or house fly?" I loved that. I hope the show continues to improve and pushes some boundries. I think there's a lot of potential here. I'm sticking with it.
Also, I should specify not all of the black kids I knew growing up acted like that and not all of the white kids I knew that grew up in black neighborhoods acted like that either, but I did know some. I reread what I typed and realized that could be taken more than one way and I thought I should clarify that.

I can definitely say that this season of Whoopi has been 100 percent more enjoyable than last season.
