The Practice 1/11/04

Wow, a great episode and they didn't even have to rely on Spader's character. It's so annoying that so many episodes follow such a specific formula. It's nice to see an episode break from the typical courtroom action for at least a little bit.

It seems like the one guy should sue the city for having his rights violated or because he took the deal, can he not sue?

Good episode.

Eugene was great and Alan came in to lighten up the mood with his plan.

Patman 01-11-04 10:19 PM

While Eugene's passion was on display, the preachiness of the episode undercut its potency. I understand the misgivings of the use of force by the State to see that justice be done, and to protect the greater good, but the leanings were far too evident and unsubtle. I admire the attempt at showing the light of truth inward, but it was an uneven attempt.

I say, bring on Alan's hookers!

Can't remember seeing Eugene that passionate, for a long time.

If they want to keep up the realism, they should have the guy "accidentally" die in prison before his 6 months are up.

I liked it too. I thought the fact that they didn't drag it for multiple episodes was the best thing about it. It was a stand alone which had the potential to go the other way, but didn't. Spader still has the best moments though. :D

I felt bad for Eugene at the end of the show. Could he still continue to believe in the system when he see what the DA and police did and got away with it?

it was a bit over the top. but i guess they were trying to make their point about a police state
