Well, I know there was just a documentary on what a joke the Golden Globes are, but I usually like their choices better than Emmys anyway.

Nice to see Nip/Tuck and Arrested Development honored by both AFI and Golden Globes. Also nice to see the Golden Globes didn't make the incredibly stupid mistake AFI did of forgetting SFU. Interesting to see the Office up there. I wonder if Coupling(BBC) was eligible?

Red Dog 12-18-03 10:22 AM

Good to see Nip/Tuck get some props.

How can Arrested Development be nominated. There have only been about 5 or 6 episodes so far? :hscratch:

How does King of Queens continue to get snubbed in these awards? Best comedy on television.

Because in 6 episodes it's better than most sitcoms currently on the air.

outcastja 12-18-03 10:30 AM

I'd replace 24 with The Shield

B.A. 12-18-03 11:20 AM

Where the hell is Scrubs!?!

Good to see LaPaglia get recognized for W/out a Trace.

Tommy_Harn 12-18-03 11:55 AM

Peter Krause for "Six Feet Under" should get a nomination. His performance this past season was amazing.

Jeremy517 12-18-03 12:21 PM

CSI -ohbfrank-

I enjoy it and all, but best drama contender? Yeah right.

BDB 12-18-03 12:38 PM

I can't believe the office got nominated, that is excellent, have many bbc america shows got nods before?

retihsuhnt 12-18-03 12:58 PM

Best Actress, Drama Series:

Frances Conroy, Six Feet Under
Jennifer Garner, Alias
Allison Janney, The West Wing
Joely Richardson, Nip/Tuck
Amber Tamblyn, Joan of Arcadia

Okay folks lets be honest here, what this really should be is:

Best Actress, Drama Series:

Frances Conroy, Six Feet Under
Jennifer Garner, Alias
Allison Janney, The West Wing

Im not knocking Richardson's performance over the season, but with the other three (3) noms, the last two (2) are fill-ins.

And I swear right now if Tamblyn gets it Im taken a 12-gauge to my brand new 57" RPTV.

Doughboy 12-18-03 01:05 PM

Nice! Arrested Development and The Office getting some props, even if it's from the Golden Globes which I really don't give a rat's ass about. Ricky Gervais does have a pretty good shot at winning Best Actor though. Tony Shalhoub should be the frontrunner coming off an Emmy win, but the other three don't look like serious competition.

Jericho 12-18-03 03:06 PM

I should really watch Arrested Development. Looks interesting, but its always on opposite Alias (and until recently Carnivale)

das Monkey 12-18-03 03:17 PM

Yeah, you should give it a shot. The comedy isn't going to fit everyone's tastes, but it's really unlike anything else on TV, and that's always a plus in my book.

As for the nods, glaring omissions as expected. Peterson but no Krause? 24 and CSI, but no Shield? Will & Grace but no Bernie Mac or King of Queens or Grounded for Life? Scrubs nowhere to be found? Whatever.

ftsoh 12-18-03 03:27 PM

Why can't they sneak Justin Kirk in for the Supporting Actor nomination in Angels in America? :(
There are 6 nominees in the Best Actress category too.

conscience 12-18-03 03:38 PM

Frances Conroy the only acting nod from Six Feet Under? Fine with me. At least she is recognized. She is my favorite on the show.

Tapping at her heels is Peter Krause who, yes, should have been nominated.
------

I also have a question.

Do the Golden Globes go by the previous seasons and the current seasons of television shows?

For example:

The West Wing. Do they let the nominees give a tape of season four from Jan-May or do they have to present something from this current season? (and btw, if they win anything I will be upset.)

das?

-------

Glad for The Office. Great show..

Those are weird shows to mention. Are they that good? What about Gilmore Girls, Malcolm, Ed, Lucky, Reno 911, I'm With Busey, Coupling (UK), and all the great animated comedy: South Park, Clone High, and Adult Swim?

Jadzia 12-18-03 03:52 PM

I wish Everwood would have gotten something. But the WB doesn't seem to get much love from the Globes.

dolphinboy 12-18-03 06:02 PM

I don't watch much tv anymore, but I sure do enjoy Gilmore Girls. It seems like a show worthy of at least nominations, does anyone else think so? Has it ever gotten any? Maybe I just have poor taste.

QuikSilver 12-18-03 06:30 PM

How come the Sopranos wasn't nominated?

Kal Varnsen 12-18-03 09:13 PM

No Curb Your Enthusiasm? This sucks!

outcastja 12-18-03 09:20 PM

There were no new Curb or Sopranos episodes this year so I think that's why they weren't nominated.

astrochimp 12-18-03 09:31 PM

I was happy to see Amber Tamblyn get nominated :)

Reba????? seriously? -ohbfrank- she's is so bad!!!!!! i watched a couple minutes once and it was like watching a singer trying to act for the first time! (oh, wait a sec...)

Dr_Evil 12-18-03 10:38 PM

Sad to see The Wire is still being overlooked in favor of shows like CSI.

PacMan2006 12-18-03 10:50 PM

I will never, EVER understand the disrespect for King of Queens. And it'd be nice to see Bernie Mac win something.

das Monkey 12-18-03 11:02 PM

Bernie Mac has been absolutely wonderful this season. The last couple of episodes were just so heartfelt and honest. I wish more shows would strive for that level of quality.
