SO...Ed's season is over in February??

Detroit Free Press:

Dateline Stuckeyville. NBC is moving "Ed" from 8 p.m. Wednesdays to 9 p.m. Fridays in January. That's because the Peacock plans to roll out the new reality series "The Apprentice" at 8 p.m. Wednesday on Jan. 8. The latter comes from "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett and follows 16 ordinary jamokes who compete to become real estate tycoon Donald Trump's new protege. "Ed" served a stint on Fridays last season as well.

But if "Ed" is taking over 9 o'clock Fridays, what happens to Alicia Silverstone and "Miss Match"? The appealing but low-rated romantic dramedy is expected to return after "Ed" completes its season run early, at the end of February.

despite all of nbc's promotions, i get the feeling that zucker has already decided that this won't return. ending it in february makes no sense. 3 months early!?! i really hope that i am wrong, but as many times as we ed fans have had to live on the edge in regards to cancellation, this may be the end.

Ed won't have it as easy on Friday's as it did last season, not by a long shot, but this move was decided before the season even began. They knew AI would destroy Ed as it will everyone else and there's something about thinking that this time of year parents get home later with their kids and it's better at the later time slot. I figure if Ed does better than expected again, that NBC will renew it, just to keep some stability in their scripted programs. But a lot has to do with what the writers plan for Carol and Ed, whether there is interest in the show by viewers who have been loyal once Carol and Ed are married, and if Ed can put a dent in JAG. I think if it surprises and beats or comes close to JAG, considering the stronger 18-34 audience for Ed, it will be back. I still like the show a lot, but this season has been mostly disappointing.

I really hope they don't cancel ED. Granted it's no West Wing or 24, but still it's one of the few sweet and decent shows on television. It's a nice break from the law type shows and the comedies on TV (though it typically is quite funny and does involve a bowling alley lawyer).
