Sorry, I'm not hip to the show like you all ;)

Season 3. Correct.

So who was the CTU traitor in season 2? Maybe I'm not reading between the lines enough. ;)

I thought it was a pretty cool twist, but I also am thinking "huh?". As in, why didn't Gaiel tell Chappelle what was going on? I guess to protect Jack's cover. When did this plot hatch? Just in the past few hours? Tony trusts Jack with a habit to go back into cover? What about all the people who have died as part of this plan (the DA, the guard, etc.)? And why wasn't Kyle Singer actually infected?

One way this kind of makes sense is if Jack knew about the plot ahead of time, and either he or Gaiel persuaded Hector not to actually infect Kyle Singer-- that they should make it a bluff, and Jack would free Ramon. If that's the case, there are still plenty of unanswered questions-- like why the heck Jack was so bent out of shape to find Kyle Singer.

Or, maybe Jack approached Gaiel earlier in the day and then they sprouted the plan that quickly-- but it still doesn't explain why Singer wasn't infected. Unless the Salazars realize it could harm even them if released.

The spoilers, unfortunately, gave away too much from next episode-- avoid all ads, if you can. Myself, I am weak.

Spoiler:
It appears that Chase will be taken captive by the Salazars, and of course at some point Jack will have to choose to save Chase or keep his cover.

Good post. Hopefully, everything will be explained eventually.

I had to laugh at the salsa music and hookers. That was a nice touch. The obvious thing that could happen is Hector turning against Jack at some point and infecting him with the virus. Hope there are more surprises later on.

WhoGirl 12-10-03 05:57 PM

I guess I'm with the minority on this, but I thought last night's episode was weak. I just kept waiting for something to happen, and when the 'something' happened it wasn't worth the build up.

And there was too much Palmer in this episode, too. How many times do we need his brother telling him to ditch the doctor chick?

"Jack Bauer and Salazar are in a plane. Gotta get them."

"No.......well, okay. Shoot them down."

"Okay. Now, we need to do something about Ann. She's going to ruin you, David. "

**bangs head against wall**

I've only recently got into watching 24 on Fox. I watched all of Season 1 and 2 on DVD the week before Season 3 began, so it's all fresh in my memory like one long movie. I just keep seeing many patterns repeating and it's getting kind of old.

Here's what needs to happen, and these are just my hopes for the show but I'll spoil them anyway:
Spoiler:

Kim: Needs to be killed. Brutally, and in front of Jack. Her character served her purpose Season 1 and needs to go. She's outstayed her welcome. Why kill her in front of Jack? His is a tragic character and this would further his arc.

President Palmer: Either needs to die, or have more stuff with Sherry. His brother, although a lot like Sherry, is not a suitable replacement. This entire season's Palmer plotline has sucked. It's filler...plain and simple. And lousy filler at that. I do think it's sad that the commercials during 24 foreshadow that Palmer will lose the Presidency and have to sell car insurance. :(

Nina: Needs to come back. More tension on Jack, and she's just a kickass character.

Chloe: Probably will be the "real mole." If that's true, I will be sad. Anyway, she's annoying and reminds me of the kid in school who'd remind the teacher that they forgot to assign homework.

Chase: I thought he was acting a Hell of a lot like Jack last night, too. But he's no Jack, and this'll eventually cost him. Somehow I bet his relationship with Kim will be the kicker in that. SHE IS POISON!

Hector's Chicka: She's got more to do with further episodes. A lot of foreshadowing to her character's importance since the beginning of the Season.

Jack: This is what I like about this season so far....I have no friggin' clue where they're eventually going with Jack. Is he making mistakes because he's thinking about getting his fix? Does he realize he screwed up and is trying to make good with the Salazars for real because he can't go back to CTU? (Aside from screwing up and flying Ramone out, remember he said about his addiction "Absolutely NO ONE must know about this." to Chase.) Is it all a brilliant plan on Jack's part to do...something? Find out next week on... ;)
Anyway, I like that. It's making me guess.

This season hasn't been that bad at all. Last night's episode did disappoint me, though. Hopefully next week it'll pick up.

I'm going with this explanation for now. If I recall correctly, Jack tried to get Chase to head back to CTU. Since Chase insisted on staying, Jack had to give the appearance he was trying everything within his power to apprehend Kyle. If we accept this as the explanation, it would answer many of questions regarding Jack's actions and his motives thus far.

DvdGene 12-10-03 11:53 PM

Chloe = co-worker of Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde 2 (staff of Senator played by Sally Field) .

No, I didn't buy the dvd, my wife rented the movie ;D

Btw, so far the best episode this season IMO. Can't wait how they're gonna explain the twist next week. Too bad Kim didn't try to get the gun and get herself shot ;D

Ranger 12-11-03 12:13 AM

Man, you guys are brutal - like watching a lynch mob shout "KILL KIM! KILL KIM!"

Edit: Hmm, I've read some really interesting spoilers at www.spoilersluts.com

Quapil 12-11-03 12:25 AM

Don't think 24 is back at all.

So there is finally a twist......but where's the tension?
This episode was so very boring it was hard to believe that it's 24.
I mean, the damn airplane szene took forever......seeing Salazar "dancing" with the girls.....grrr.....we all knew what a villain like him really would've done with them ;)
But anyways, that szene was just plain boring, I guess noone really thought that he will go and kill Jack that early in the Season.....so what's the thing to be thrilled?

The doulbe-mole thingy was discussed before and the only logical solution if they wanted to be at least a bit realistic.

Anyway, as much as i like to see Tony back it really makes me lough that he's already running around only 1 hours after surgery, lol

Buck Turgidson 12-11-03 12:38 AM

Actually, I was pretty satisfied at seeing her gagged.

Did anybody notice that, (for the first time in TV and movie history), someone (namely Kim) didn't howl in agony when the tape was ripped from her face?

Guess she's Jack's daughter, after all

Thank you! I have a patient in the hospital and it's taking me over a day to get the result of a simple flu swab! Then again I don't have that NYPD Blue /CNN gal on the case, either.

So the reason that Chloe seems so annoyingly familiar was that she played "Chloe" on Veronica's Closet. Interesting. (Yes the show sucked, but it was between Sinefeld or Fraiser and ER and I didn't feel like changing the channel).

And YES, I loved that episode! A great twist that throws out everything from the first episode and starts afresh. This is why I still love 24.

das Monkey 12-11-03 01:48 AM

Yeah, you have to remember that Andrea Thompson is a P5 Commercial Teep, not to mention the gift Ironheart gave her. That gives her a pretty big advantage when it comes to medical analysis.

I agree, I thought it was by far the best of the season. Sure, I could use less Kim and Anne, but the rest was wonderful and the twist at the end really surprised me. I am very excited about Jack being back undercover with the Salazars too, I felt robbed that he was undercover for 2 years with them and I didn't get to see. It seems too interesting for words so I am looking forward to it.

I've been pretty disappointed with this season so far. As everyone has said: no real tension. But, I'll admit, I didn't see that ending coming.

Meteu185 12-11-03 08:54 AM

Someone's going to have to explain to me the purpose of Jack killing the kid in the back of the plane and holding everyone hostage if he was with Hector the whole time??

Pointless tension building?

I took it as he was doing all of it so that he wouldn't blow his cover. It seems that Ramon and Jack were the only two on their side that knew about the arrangement. Perhaps having Hector in on the deal might have blown some sort of cover or something.

I think
Spoiler:
the virus will turn out to be a fake. There has to be something else that they want to do. I'd heard earlier this year (during some of the hype) that the storyline ultimately revolves around some sort of drug trade, but that might have changed by now.

Palmer has taken over for Kim this season as far as just being a complete distraction and unrelated to anything important to the main plot. Would they just get past this "scandal" already? I'd rather Palmer was dead than this borefest.

I liked the plot twist, but that's some serious creative license they are taking. It's almost comical how many "holy shit!" moments they put in this episode.

Jack is handcuffed to a table or whatever and still managed to take down the guy guarding him and get free. I'm not sure if he broke the guy's neck or if he just crushed his skull between his thighs  And why would the guy care if Jack's having a seizure? He looked worried.

Tony hears about Gaiel and walks out of the hospital. I was glad to see that Jack isn't the only badass in CTU. But then...

We find out Gaiel is also a badass and he was still working for the good guys. I'm not really sure if this is what they originally had planned because it seems ridiculous to me that Tony would think that not even Michelle could know about this. Gael put himself at risk as much as Jack did by breaking Ramon out of prison. He had a gun pointed at Michelle and Kim for crying out loud! I don't think Jack or Tony would appreciate that :p I would think that Michelle and Chapelle should be pissed off that they were kept out of the loop on this one.

Are we sure the guy is dead? The way he was talking to Jack, I got the impression they had been friendly when Jack was previously undercover and that's why he was concerned.

I'm not sure he's dead, I just assumed because of the crunching sound effect made when Jack had the figure four leg lock on his head. Either way I doubt we'll see that guy again, so he's dead to me. :D

I think Hector's wife is going to make a deal with Jack. She'll help him with something in exchange for getting her and her kid out of there.

And obviously now that we see Jack's got things under control, Chase is going to show up and screw it all up again

The Oracle of Mary Lynn Rajskub

According to The Oracle of Bacon at Virginia:

The Oracle says: Mary Lynn Rajskub has a Bacon number of 2.

Mary Lynn Rajskub was in Man on the Moon (1999) with Gerry Becker
Gerry Becker was in Trapped (2002) with Kevin Bacon

If you want to link MLR to anyone, try this: http://oracleofbacon.org/oracle/star_links.html

I can't find anyone with an MLR number higher than 3, though I'm SURE there are tons out there.

I have a bit of a request to make...I recorded this week's episode with my DVR and for some reason, it froze half-way through, so I only saw the first 30 minutes. After skimming through this thread, it only figures that I missed the best parts of the best episode of the season. :grunt:

Anyway, was wondering if someone can point me to a site that has a detailed explanation of the plot? I scoured through the pages of this thread and wasn't able to piece it all together. Or if someone would be able to post what the second half consisted of, I'd be real appreciative. Thanks!

das Monkey 12-14-03 07:03 PM

I believe my summary of "50 minutes of boredom and silliness to set up a plot twist" was sufficient, but for those who would like something more verbose ... ;)

From the easily amused ;) writers at TV Tome:

7:00 PM - 7:05 PM
Guille begins interrogating Kim. He asks her when she is expected back, and then ties her up with duct tape, and covers her mouth. He begins deleting all the log files from his computer that might incriminate him. Michelle asks Adam to transfer all of her files to Guille as she is heading over to the hospital to see Tony. Guille calls Michelle and tells him that Kim ran into some trouble performing her task and is going to be a little longer. She tells Guille that she wants him brought up to speed so that she can head over to the hospital. He shows Kim a monitor that he is holding, and tells her that he's watching her.

7:05 PM - 7:06 PM
Michelle transfers control of CTU to Guille. Chapelle holds a briefing and lets everyone know the biothreat is over. Their new mission is to apprehend Salazar.

7:06 PM - 7:08 PM
Onboard Salazar's plane Ramone sits satisfied with his escape while Jack lies unconscious on the floor. Ramone grabs a bottle of champagne and dumps it on Jack, waking him up.

7:08 PM - 7:14 PM
Chapelle calls Chase and demands that he tell him everything he knows about Jacks heroin addiction. He orders Chase back to CTU. Adam calls Chloe and asks if her Logs have been fixed yet. The pair are confused as to why it is taking Kim so long. Adam tells Guille he needs to talk to Kim. He cunningly dodges the problem telling him that Chapelle has sent Kim to network with a mirror drive, he tells Adam that he will send Kim to him as soon as she gets back. Guille begins to worry as Adam is not accepting his excuse. He calls down to Tech One. Kim struggles in her wheeled chair and knocks the ringing phone on the floor. Adam hangs up before he hears it. Unsatisfied he goes to the room to see for himself. His keycard however will not open it. Adam calls Michelle and she resets the code. It will take 15 seconds to sync. Guille sneaks away from Michelle and Adam gets into the room. She tells Adam Guille did it. He runs out and calls security. Guille tries to flee, but they grab him.

7:18 PM - 7:20 PM
The Presidents motorcade races through the street. With Jack Bauer's whereabouts still unknown the President's attentions must turn back to his now struggling campaign.

7:20 PM - 7:22 PM
Chapelle begrudgingly gives Michelle permission to leave for the hospital. While single handedly performing the funniest line of the series. Chapelle goes in and begins interrogating Guille. He resists.

7:22 PM - 7:26PM
The sexxy party continues onboard Salazar's pleasure plane, as two nice looking girls begin taking their clothes off and dancing. Ramone can't get into the mood however as he's worrying about killing Bauer. On of his goons prevents him from killing him. Ramone is now worried about who will be in charge once he returns. Jack begins to vomit and shaking, he is faking. He kills the guard who was supposed to be watching him and undoes his cuffs. He is now armed.

7:30 PM - 7:32 PM
Palmer's political aides try to find a solution to the political problem of Anne. Wayne suggests that he distance himself from Anne. Outside, Ted (Anne's ex husband) calls Anne. He tells her he has evidence that will clear her. She must come to him, alone and he will give it to her.

7:32 PM - 7:35 PM
Chase arrives at one of the contacts homes that him and Jack "forgot" to give CTU after Salazar's fall. The man turns out to be an accountant, he tells Chase that he does not know where Hector is anymore, he left Columbia two weeks ago. The accountant pulls up his files on Salazar's recent money movements in an attempt to locate him.

7:35 PM - 7:39 PM
Ramone, unable to wait any longer goes to kill Jack. Jack is waiting for him, he grabs his gun, and Ramone. Holding a gun to Salazar's head. He gets his goon to drop his gun. Back at Casa Salazar, Hector is rounding up every man he can to meet the plane at the airport. Chapelle has Guille injected with some nasty stuff. The interrogation continues, suddenly Guille's phone begins to ring... its Hector Salazar. Chapelle brings in Kim and Adam to trace the call. Guille begins to talk to Hector, but the trace is unsuccessful.

7:43 PM - 7:45 PM
Michelle arrives at the hospital. Tony is just waking up. They share a tender moment. The doctor tells Michelle that Tony will be alright, he should be on his feet within a couple of days. When Michelle tells Tony that Guille is the trader he panics and tries to get up.

7:45 PM - 7:47 PM
Salazar's accountant finds a record of some money being moved to an account he has never seen before. He shows Chase the city where he is. Chase gets the Accountant to clear his private plane for take off.

7:47 PM - 7:49 PM
Chase calls Kim and tells her where he's going. Chase tells Kim not to tell anyone where he's going. She doesn't promise, but tells him to be careful.

7:54 PM - 7:56 PM
Salazar's plane comes in for a landing. The goon squad takes up positions around him. Tony returns to CTU, limping. He needs to talk to Guille in private. He gets to Guille's interrogation room, he orders Chapelle to leave but he won't.

7:56 PM - 8:00 PM
The Plane has landed... the crew leaves first, then the women.. Then Salazar and Jack. Hector hugs Jack.... and tells him they have a lot of work to do. Something is up...
