Survivor 12/04/03

Tonight was sort of a lackluster episode.

The winner of reward:

Spoiler:
was the team of Darrah, Jon, and Lill in a team reward competition. The reward was good food and plush sleeping arrangements.

The winner of immunity:

Spoiler:
was Darrah, who proved to be a good shot with a musket. Christa came close to winning, but missed on her 3rd target.

The 11th booted off the island:

Spoiler:
Christa by a 4-2 vote over Lil.

Jeff did have fun poking at the survivor's who think that everyone lies, but are also willing to trust those they think they are allied with. He kept trying to punctuate the point that you can't trust anyone in this game, and if you do, you will get the boot.

I still can't believe:

Spoiler:
that Burton hasn't been booted off in these last 2 episodes. The women have been bamboozled by Jon and Burton. Also, I can't believe that Jon is still getting mileage out of swearing on his "dead grandmother".

Bigsierra 12-04-03 08:53 PM

Do I have to spoiler the whole thing? If someone comes here and reads this thread before watching it, they obvioulsy weren't thinking.

Too bad Christy voted wrong in the last episode. That's what blew it for them. If Christa would have voted Burton, rather than Tijuana, it would have been down to Sandra, Christy, Tijuana, and Darrah. Oh well, Lil may jump sides. Sandra, Darrah, and Lil could do it.

Go Sandra!!!!!!!!

Red Dog 12-04-03 08:54 PM

Yeah - Jon and Burton are playing this game masterfully. I hope Jon or Darrah end up winning it all. I was very impressed with Darrah's shooting.

Bigsierra 12-04-03 08:57 PM

Catch Darrah in her camo hunting outfit, in her Audition Video, here.

Spoiler:
Man, is Lil the STUPIDEST woman ever? She is sooo freaking pathetic. I would be embarrassed to know her in the real world. This Survivor is reminding me of the one where Porn Guy and Clay went to the final two. The morons on that edition never figured out they weren't part of the equation until they each got voted off.

Bigsierra 12-04-03 09:03 PM

I hope her troop goes over an jumps on her bed

Vegas9203 12-04-03 09:13 PM

Lill is by far the most annoying person ever...her face squeezes like a lemon all the time and she's so damn gullible. What an idiot. The only chance Sandra has is if Darrah and Lill turn on Burton and Jon. I honestly cannot believe everyone still believes the whole Jon grandmother thing either....he keeps swearing on her grave all the time! I'm really rooting for Sandra. The girls made a bad mistake by not getting rid of Burton last time, that was their only really good chance to do that. I detest Jon so much...he's been on too long and now he's repeating his 'witty' remarks since he's running out. Overall, not a very surprising episode...you kinda knew Christa was gone as soon as Lill, Jon and Darrah went on that reward.

Patman 12-04-03 09:18 PM

Oops, sorry about the spoilers, feel free to go with no spoilers. I was just being too sensitive to spoilers for others.

All of a sudden this season has gotten really boring. Ho-hum. I hope this doesn't turn into another Thailand.

At least next week's preview looks interesting, but I'm sure that is just a tease. However, Rule #1 of Survivor seems to be that if you get cocky, you are next on the block.

Indeed! That has always been the thing that has bit people in the ass...when they get cocky. THe only person that it worked for was Brian in Thailand, and that's because he kept his cockiness to himself.

wertent 12-04-03 09:27 PM

I think Burton is getting a little too cocky for his own good ...... is jon just trying to get the 2nd spot because he has to know no matter who he goes up agianst in the final 2 he isnt going to win

I won't be bored as long as Sandra stays in the running, and Jon has been cocky for far too long.

Lil is showing signs of switching teams.

I wasn't sure. I thought it might have been Sandra. But, Burton can't think for himself. He has to wait for Jon to tell them what they are doing. Burton needed to decide on whether he wants to play the game or keep up an honesty front. He blew it when he wasn't direct with LiL.... or Christy and Sandra, for that matter. Guess he's not playing poker face. Maybe if Jon was there to tell him to act like he was with them, he would have.

Josh-da-man 12-04-03 09:32 PM

Wow. Could the women be any dumber?

I swear, they'll believe anything Burton and Jon tell them.

Darrah, honey, the next time you lose immunity, you're off of the island. You know that, don't you? You've won twice. You're a threat. Burton knows this. Sandra couldn't win an immunity to save her life, so she's easy pickings. Lil will be kept around until she's outlived her usefulness.

Yes, last week, Christa and Sandra cut a deal with Burton and Jon because Tijuana wanted her out the next council. That plan sure worked didn't it?

Let's see. Tijuana wants Christa out, so she prevents an alliance that could've kept her on the island until at least the final four. She's gone.

Christa. Went along with Burton and Jon to boot Tijuana. Now she's gone.

At this point, Burton and Jon don't even have any kind of strategy, except to keep themselves around. So far, those two are the only really solid alliance on the island.

Next week, it'll be Darrah leaving if she doesn't win immunity. And if she doesn't, watch Sandra go bye-bye.

Either way, Jon and Burton are virtually a lock for the final three.

Jadzia 12-04-03 09:34 PM

I suddenly realized while watching this episode, that I don't want any of these people to win. Jon and Burton are scum, Lil is absoluitely pathetic, Sandra is a bitch, and Darrah is just a tree stump.

I should have been pissed at Jon and Burton outmsarting those girls once again, but I just blame it on their own stupidity. I blame them for not voting Burton out last week when they had the chance. Even before that, I blame Rupert along with Sandra & Christa for not targeting Jon or Burton and instead only voting along former tribal lines. They should have at least voted out Burton or lil the first chance they got since they were the "Outcasts" and don't deserve to win in the first place, But no, they had to vote out people like Ryan O. or Tijuana instead of going after the real threats.

This started out as one of the best Survivors ever, now it's one of the worst.

Patman 12-04-03 09:39 PM

Darrah is the only one that I would find palatable to win.

Tommy_Harn 12-04-03 09:41 PM

Please explain to me why so many of you are rooting for Sandra. I know its tough to choose somebody worthwhile, but come on! Aside from Lil, who has done less in this game than Sandra? Like Fairplay said, she rode Ruppert's coat-tails. Since he left, every move she has made has been wrong. Oh, and she's a bitch to boot. I can not find one redeeming quality. Please, enlighten me.

why do people think jon has no chance to win?

past survivors have shown that the final vote is NOT necessarily a popularity contest.

Tree stumps don't win two straight immunity challenges. Darrah is smart if you ask me. She lays low and doesn't make too many promises. She doesn't make enemies. She just plays the game tough. Although the deck is stacked against her, she might end up winning, which would be just fine with me.

Sandra is so physically inept it's hilarious. Did you see her slip on the reward challenge and do a chin plant on that first platform? It took her 5 minutes to untie a simple knot. Has she ever won anything on her own? No. She has been riding coattails the whole game.

Burton's "plan" is going to backfire. He thinks everyone will blame Jon and he will look like a saint. Not gonna happen. Burton will end up looking like the snake and aligning himself with Jon will only hurt him by association.

Lil is dead weight. She will be gone when she is no longer useful. Just like that old, senile woman from Thailand.

Finally, Jon. What an enigma that guy is! Right after he does something annoying or detestable, he does something brilliant. He is even surprisingly likeable sometimes. He just might win this thing.

I'm rooting for Darrah though. My kind of woman! Can hold her own and doesn't mind swimming topless in the ocean!

Bigsierra 12-04-03 10:10 PM

Well, I don't know why anyone else is rooting for Sandra, but I know why I am. I watched all of the audition videos early in the season and picked her as number one and Darrah as number 2.
Not because they would be such great players, or whatever, but because I liked them. I knew Sandra was going to get into trouble, not being able to keep a secret, but thought she would be fun.

Sandra really hasn't "ridden" any coat tails. What has she won anyway, cept a couple early worthless challenges. She's managed to stay around in spite of her mouth. She wears her emotions on her sleeve a lot of times, which can be very dangerous in this game. At least Jon was seen for what he is and told off about it. I really don't remember her being a bitch, other than that. What's really been hilarious is to see her sneaking up on folks to hear what they are plotting. She's was and is my favorite.

Yeah. That's where I'm at with the show. It really has come down to who I want to win the least now. And Jon is by far leading in that category.

BizRodian 12-04-03 10:49 PM

I think Jadzia said it best.

Also loved Darrah's contributions tonight (paraphrased)

"Jon lies, yeah, but he also tells the truth"

Profound.

hahn 12-04-03 10:52 PM

Is it just me or does Burton look like Eric Bana (from the Incredible Hulk)?

Darrah is cool and actually seems pretty smart.

das Monkey 12-05-03 12:09 AM

Christa was so funny tonight. She's suddenly talking deeply about strategy and how it's a game like this is some great revelation to everyone, when really she's been just too dumb to figure that out until now. Someone asked why we don't like her, and that's precisely why. She carries herself like a smart strategist with an arrogant persona, but she's always a step or two behind the rest and is damn annoying in the process. Very happy to see her gone. Still, she didn't cry about it when she got voted off like so many others, so that's always a plus.
