I was also thinking of Dukes of Hazzard also during the show. Will check the narrator next time.

Funny that they didn't know what to do with a paycheck.

Episodes #1 and #2 reair this evening from 9:00 pm ET to 10:00 pm ET after a new episode of "Tru Calling". (Although if you check the fox website, theres a schedule for tonight on the front page saying 8:30 pm ET/9:00 pm ET with "Tru Calling" airing for just a half-hour from 8:00 pm ET to 8:30 pm ET. Definiately a misprint there. LOL!) Cool, I get to see the first episode.

This show is more entertaining than I had anticipated. It's sad in some respects, but funny in other respects.

While ratings dipped for FOX's "The Simple Life" in its second week, the reality hit remained the night's highest rated program in the key demographics and helped carry the network to a Tuesday night ratings split.

CBS began the night in front as the venerable "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" earned a 7.8/12 for the 8 p.m. hour. ABC was second with the new Peanuts special "I Want a Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown," which earned a 6.1/10, a whisker in front of the average for FOX's "That 70s Show" (5.2/8) and "The Simple Life" (7.0/11). NBC took fourth with "The Tracy Morgan Show" and "Whoopi." On UPN, "One on One" and "All of Us" averaged a 2.0/3 to edge the numbers for The WB's "The Gilmore Girls."

The show is pretty funny but only because those 2 girls are just so damn stupid. And I don't see what the big deal with Paris is ... I don't find her all that attractive, it looks like someone grabbed her by the chin and pulled down and stretched out her whole face. She's just got the ultimate "snooty" look to her. And the other one just kinda bugs me too. What the hell would they do if they got disowned? They can't even keep a job in a fast food place :)

Movie_Man 12-11-03 01:28 PM

I'm a little late to this thread, but I have to say that Tuesday's show at the Sonic Burger was single handedly the funniest thing I have seen in a looong time. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath.
If I had in infinite amount of money and never worked a day in my life, how seriously do you think I would take my first day at Sonic? That show gives you the answer.

My condolensces. ;)

Jeremy517 12-12-03 11:02 AM

There is an article in People magazine about the show. Paris admits that she really did know what Walmart was and that they was just "playing a part". It also says that none of the bottles that they filled ever made it to market and that "It was totally for show".

Dairy Farmer Danny Council says that it was his idea "to have them wash the tractor and they happened to be in swimsuits at the time".

The wife says that the truck really does have problems getting into reverse, so it wasn't the driver's fault.

Well damn, that just about ruins all of the 'reality' of this show for me!

suziq999 12-12-03 11:25 AM

Does anyone else think Paris needs to eat something? She looks like a skeleton with a wig on.

I think Nicole is actually kinda cool. She actually tried to work at the dairy and she tried to have a normal conversation with the family.

big whoppa 12-12-03 01:05 PM

I was afraid of the staged bits coming from the Real World producers. Still love it. They're just making themselves look dumb.

I don't know who the sound-alike narrator is, but it most definitely is not singer Waylon Jennings, who narrated the Dukes of Hazzard (and who wrote and sung the Dukes theme song), because he's quite dead at the moment.

I'm hoping it willl be uncensored like they did with The Osbournes and Anna Nicole :D:up:

matta 12-16-03 08:56 PM

Well it was on today. That's about all I have to say about that. Oh, and they're really bad at exacting revenge on ex-girlfriends.

big whoppa 12-16-03 08:59 PM

Damn. I missed it.

Mopower 12-16-03 09:07 PM

Ha. I love how they constantly make fun of that hick town and it's people.

dom56 12-16-03 11:06 PM

Damn... wish I was one of the lucky bastards that kissed Nicole's ass at the fair. :)

Deftones 12-16-03 11:37 PM

hahaah, this is the greatest show ever!

Supposedly, Paris has signed a deal with Fox for another reality show that she will be the star of!

spainlinx0 12-17-03 12:56 AM

Damn, I deleted it by mistake before watching it. Arrgghhh, was it good?

Luckily they are replaying it this week.

big whoppa 12-17-03 01:54 AM

When does the repeat air?

mrpayroll 12-17-03 08:59 AM

There is a new episode tonight. So that means that there are only 2 more episodes left, because I heard there were only 7 episodes.

And last nights episode was filmed in May. I wonder why they took so long to put it on the air?

Editing. They had to sort through many hours of footage to create a story in 1/2 hour increments.

Well, it was originally going to be an mid-season Summer show, but so many people that tested it liked it, they decided to hold off and air it during sweeps. Guess that was wise considering how well the ratings first did.

It's a pretty good lead in for 24 since there's nothing else on.

I loved the look on the ex-girlfriend's face when Nicole said 'And tonight we're going to tag team him " as it went from confident to just scared shitless when she realized that with Paris and Nicole *they* might actually do it.

Michael Corvin 12-17-03 10:30 AM

I've seen a few of these, mostly because of the lead in to 24. Nothing much else on. But it seems pretty scripted to me. I mean who would sit a pie on the ground in the yard? It did make for a funny bit. Kudos to the writers.

SBatL8y 12-17-03 01:35 PM

They didn't sit the pies on the ground, they set them on the bench swing. I thought it seemed pretty believable to me. They just got tired of carrying them around and set them down so they could go in and use the phone to call for a ride. I thought it was pretty funny.

I also found it hilarious that only Nicole's pie was ruined by the dog. She saw that Paris' pie was fine, so she stepped in it. :D

big whoppa 12-17-03 07:42 PM

Watching it now, I'm laughing my head off. Nicole is so bad. I thought Paris would be the one. Nicole is the slut doing the Basic Instinct impression on the farmer and the instigator with charging the mirror and birdhouse to his account.

zuffy 12-17-03 08:04 PM

That was one of the worst fake cry ever!

No doubt, but it made for a hilarious scene.

I don't know, but it sure did look like the girls sat their pies on the grass to me, and that's why I also thought the whole deal with the pies was kind of unbelievable, but I agree it was still funny though when Nicole stepped on Paris' pie. Poor Grandma, she was so proud of girls in their efforts at making their pies from scratch. It's too bad they went and spoiled it all.

BizRodian 12-17-03 10:46 PM

That pie bit just looked so set up. The way the girls were behaving and such. I think they must have done a retake later on or something.

mrpayroll 12-17-03 10:53 PM

Tonights episode was not really funny and it looks like they may have worn out their welcome with the family at the end. It's one thing to screw up on the job, but to charge something without permission and then not take responsibility for it, just doesn't seem funny to me.

Chris

das Monkey 12-17-03 11:09 PM

I hate that I laugh so hard during this show. It's juvenile and so obviously staged, but each week something happens that makes me explode with laughter. Nichole's horrible crying routine was just too funny.

Hey, they were making fun of it just being $100 or so. To them it was change, but to their boss, that could be a lot of money.

Chris

big whoppa 12-18-03 04:07 AM

$100 is alot to most of us. That Nicole is such a bad influence. They're lucky the guy doesn't press charges.

Airs tonight as well. A one hour repeat.

Bigsierra 12-18-03 01:02 PM

$100 is a lot to me, especially in this season. I certainly wasn't saying it wasn't much. I was just guessing that Mrpayroll would keep a pretty close eye on things like that. hehe

I'm sure it's going to be covered "somehow", maybe behind the scenes. They just showed us the interesting part, but I'm sure the girls could pay for it, if needed, but it probably came out of production cost.

Do we even know if the production company is paying these people to hire them? What would be these comanies motivation to hire two girls that have never used a time clock and don't know a thing about doing a full days work? I'm sure one day of work is going to end up being a loss, on the books. Training takes too much time.

mrpayroll 12-18-03 02:51 PM

I'm sure they've 'greased' the palms of these employers, whether it's money or free advertising for their company.

Chris

big whoppa 12-19-03 12:58 AM

Just watched the pie and kissing booth episode. Loved it. Most hilarious reality TV ever, staged or not. It's a shame that there's only 7 episodes.

Jackskeleton 12-19-03 01:03 AM

You know, I just watched the five episodes back to back. I'm really enjoying the show. funny stuff.
