How many times will you be watching this movie on TV this year? It will be on constant rotation until the new year.

Many funny moments in the movie:

Ralphie forced to wear the bunny costume.
Ralphie shoved down the slide by the elf.
Ralphie cursing up a storm.
Dad's lamp leg fetish.
Dining at the Chinese restaurant.

I could never stand the movie. "You'll shoot your eye out!"


So, I'll probably only see it twice.

I mean..it is Christmas.

I always thought the leg lamp was hilarious.

I think we will see it about 5,000 times this year...actually we always watch it on Thanksgiving (DVD not TV version), and that is about it.

When they start running it on a 24 hour continuous rotation, we usually tune in for 10-15 mins. at a time, here and there.

By the next day you will have seen pretty much the whole movie, bits at a time. :lol:

I love it.

My favorite part is when Ralphie goes ballistic on the bully and beats him to a pulp.

It is a great Christmas movie, and now there is a Special Edition DVD out to take over from the bare bones one that has been out for years.

Go on, buy it! I triple dog dare you!

Heh, my tradition is trying to avoide watching this movie at all costs.

I'll probably catch it a few times.

My wife and I just watched the dvd tonight to kick off the season. I told her I thought they should market an Ultimate Christmas Story gift set with a Red Rider BB gun.

I'd buy it...oy!

And the lamp, of course...

Ha, they're actually selling that lamp. For $180 no less! Wow!

I couldn't believe it when my wife admitted to me that she has never seen the movie. We will watch it together on Christmas day on TBS during one of it's marathon showings.

I would only buy it only if it came in a large wooden crate marked "Fra-gee-lay" :lol:

I like the film, but damn it's overexposed. I've seen it way too many times, so I'm going to abstain this year.

This is probably one of the most misunderstood jokes in movie history (I had it wrong for the longest time too).

The box the lamp comes in is labeled "FRAGLIE." However, the wording is too large to fit on one side of the box, thus the "F" is on one side, with "RAGILE" wrapped around onto the next side, which is the side facing up.

Thus the dad sees "RAGILE" and says "Ra-gee-lay. Must be Italian." So the dad isn't as dumb as everyone thinks, although he's still pretty dumb.

jon-w9 had it right, the father definately says "Fra-gee-lay" with the F. Part of the F is still on the front of the crate, so it's still legible.

Unless they are showing it without commercial interuption, you have to spring for the DVD.
You can't have your wife seeing it for the very first time ever with commercials ruining it.

He doesn't say "Fra-gee-lay", he says "Fra-gee-lee".

I don't remember this fra-gee-lay vs fra-gee-lee part. I'll have to part attention to that part of the movie.

I have already on tape when it came on Turner Classic Movies a couple of years back. Widescreen, too. :lol:
