Simpsons 11/16

Well, it wasn't entirely bad, but the endings to the episodes seem to just blow now a days. :(

a lisa episode + Singing = not the best, but the small little homer moments were alright.

MrX 11-16-03 11:27 PM

I thought it was good for a lisacentric episode.

I thought they used Homer well. He's a lot funnier in little parts then when he's the center of the show.

Marge throwing vodka in Ralph's face:lol:

RyoHazuki 11-16-03 11:35 PM

Pretty bad episode. Willy still makes me laugh though.

chrisih8u 11-16-03 11:42 PM

This episode sucked. The only funny part was Willie making fun of Millhouse. The singing was horrible and pointless.

And was that really Michael Moore?

muggins 11-16-03 11:43 PM

I was rather disappointed with the ending. Things were going along fine, and then *BAM* The End.

His name was in the credits at the end.

Parts of this episode made me laugh pretty hard. Groundskeeper Willie stole the show. I don't know why, but I couldn't stop laughing when he waved at SuperNintendo Chalmers from the school yard as he was raking leaves.

Chalmers: "Hey, maybe that escaped mental patient you hired has some sort of toxin in his shack."
[Willie Waves, Chalmers waves back]
Chalmers: "Yes, Hello Willie"

And because I'm pretty clueless when it comes to certain things, my wife told me the singing in this episode was a paradoy of Evita.

Tuan Jim 11-17-03 05:36 AM

The disclaimer at the end made the Evita stuff even funnier.

also:

"Real Estate License Test?"

"My ticket to freedom!"

thought the episode as a whole was really good comparatively for the last few seasons, but yeah, the ending was way too abrupt.

Chew 11-17-03 05:58 AM

It's was OK, but nothing great.

Jackskeleton 11-17-03 05:59 AM

It seems the simpsons have lost the art of closing up a story. this has been happening for the last few episodes and last season as well. we can understand the getting from A to B at the beginning not really connecting, but the ending going from B to Q makes little sense. blah.

Absolutely wonderful episode.

I think your wife is incorrect. There was a disclaimer at the end fromt he producers saying they'd never heard of a musical based on the life of Eva Peron.

Some random comments:

Pretty bad episode, but what do you expect when it features Lisa?

This is probably Willie's biggest appearance on the show, which is funny since the plot has nothing to do with him.

Kent Brockman: Where did you get that statistic?
Michael Moore: Your mama!

What, no B-story?

They were being sarcastic, actually ;) It .was a pardody of Evita.

And Groucho was being sarcastic too.

This episode was absolutely terrific! Wall to wall funny. All three acts were strong. They used a celebrity guest in a good and funny way, as a one-liner cameo joke. Less homer = funny homer. It was classic.

Homer in the Casino was funny. "We're getting a Playstation ONE!"

Homer in the tutu was not so funny.

Sorry :) My bad

They had some very adult-oriented jokes in this one, including the protest signs and the happy ending massage line.

One of the funniest episodes in a loooooong time. It helped, though, that I noticed the parody with Lisa's first song.

breaux124 11-17-03 09:35 AM

When Otto drops Lisa off at the end
" I love to see a happy ending ... just like after my massage"

This goes over most people's head's if you don't know what a "happy ending" is refering too.

"Give us back our balls."

PalmerJoss 11-17-03 10:22 AM

One of my favorite gags was Lisa's "Vote Lisa" poster, which was basically an exact replica of the Evita broadway poster. I also loved the teacher's lounge scenes. Pure hilarity!

Lateralus42 11-17-03 10:26 AM

Lisacentric episodes are usually good, this was no different.

I wish they would would change Homer back to a simple minded fool, and have him stop saying so many things he would never say. He has lost all his charm.

The Antipodean 11-17-03 10:43 AM

Hilarious episode, I'm glad they chose not to focus on Homer-the-idiot for yet another episode...

Groucho 11-17-03 10:48 AM

I forgot Lenny's great line: "I break just like a little girl."
