One Tree Hill - 11/12/03 "The Search for Something More"

Is anyone else watching this show? I told my ReplayTV to catch this show a few weeks ago, on a whim, and I find myself liking it. Tonight's episode was particularly strong.

And Sophia Bush (Brooke)....

I've been watching it since the first episode and I really like it. It is a toss up between The Handler and One Tree Hill as to what is my favorite new show of the year.

I find it odd that this show has already done a complete one-eighty in only nine episodes. All of a sudden Lucas is accepted and his mom is now best friends with Nathan's mom.

Now it seems like Lucas is interested in Brooke and the Haley/Nathan couple just isn't right. Nine episodes into the season and everyone has already tried to sleep with everyone else.

Brooke actually became a likeable character last night, although her sudden acceptance of Mouth seemed a little drastic.

Peyton has got to be the most irritating character on the show. I hope Lucas blows her off and goes after Brooke.

I've been watching the show for the past couple of episodes. I like it, but it's kind of my guilty pleasure show. Last nights episode was good, but so far, I think my favorite one was the episode where Lucas and Nathan have to walk home after a basketball game and get abducted by players from the hick town that they played against and are forced to fight each other, while Payton, Haley, and Brooke have their own little driving adventure.

Overall, it's a pretty good show and it is interesting how much the main characters have changed in the nine episodes. The dad is still a jack-ass though...

I've been watching since the beginning, too, and now I can't stop. This is definitely my guilty pleasure of the season.

And Sophia Bush (Brooke) is the best part of the whole thing.

I thought I was the only one here watching this show since there wasn't any threads, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who can't help but tune in. It's so cheesy that I can't help myself. It's just a damn fun show.

I watch this show, and it's a guilty pleasure. Fairly reminiscent of 90210, but without the LA backdrop. Add the tension between the parents, the show is pretty amusing.

Is Brooke the same hot girl in the "Wingman" beer commerical?

Oh, who thought Moira Kelly would turn out to be such a fine MILF?

She's no MILF, imo. The MILF on this show is Nathan's mom, Deb.

Patman 11-12-03 05:48 PM

Well, Nathan's mom does have some nice big...eyes!

Nathan's Mom is Deb. Karen is Luca's Mom. I'd say they both qualify as MILFs in my book.

For those confused as to who's who:

Lucas is the blonde high school basketball player. He's the lead character.

Nathan is Lucas's half-brother (they share the same bastard of a "father" Dan). Initially they don't like each other. They are getting on a little better in terms of ramping down the dislike.

Karen (the older/non-teen brunette) is Lucas's mom, and hangs with Keith (older brother of Dan, and not as successful, has a boozy temper on him).

Deb (the older/non-teen blonde) is Nathan's mom, married to Dan. She's a saint compared to Dan.

Peyton is the frizzy-haired blonde who likes Lucas, was former girlfriend of Nathan, she's got an artistic streak in her that Lucas gets (but Nathan was oblivious to her in that respect).

Brooke is the instigator brunette who's got the hots for Lucas as well. She's always the catalyst for any trouble that gets started, it seems.

Haley is the homely brunette who is Lucas's platonic gal pal who has the hots for Nathan and tutors Nathan. Lucas isn't keen on Haley getting close to Nathan. Haley made a deal with Nathan: She tutors him to keep him eligible for basketball, and he quits bothering/hazing Lucas.

Did you just call Haley homely?

Thanks - that's what I meant. Fixed my post.

Compared to Brooke and Peyton, yeah, Haley is homely. But I found her very cute.

I'm not too big on Peyton, but yes Brooke is hot. Haley has that cute factor that I really like as well. I don't I thought you were calling her homely in general and not using "TV standards."

clemente 11-14-03 07:19 PM

She's "TV" homely...which is a far cry from "real world" homely.

Glad to see some conversation on this show. It's probably the new show I've become most addicted too. I taped the first episode on a whim, since I wasn't watching anything at that time and it was after Gilmore Girls, I thought what the heck.

But it's a complete guilty pleasure.

tofu 11-14-03 07:47 PM

I was watching it because I needed a basketball fix. But now I'm pretty much hooked. Definitely a guilty pleasure.

BTW, I like the theme song. Anybody remember the artists' name?

spainlinx0 11-15-03 12:32 AM

Can I just say that it's also refreshing to see actually decent basketball playing on TV? How many shows do we have guys who it looks like have never touched a basketball in their life acting like they are pros. (Ralphie on Sopranos for one example. That 70's show for another.) I mean these guys aren't the greatest, but at least it looks like they are capable.

Patman 11-15-03 07:04 AM

I'll bet that I'm one of the few in this thread who has seen all of the episodes so far. :) The basketball angle is want hooked up at the start, but it's been fairly interesting to this point.

I'm guilty, too. Don't worry, you are definitely not alone.

spainlinx0 11-15-03 06:12 PM

I have also seen every episode.

sq240 11-15-03 07:05 PM

I have seen all of them also.

clemente 11-15-03 11:06 PM

So have I, its worked its way into my weekly "Must See List"

Patman 11-16-03 08:53 AM

So...should I feel ashamed or proud? :D

Patman 11-16-03 05:01 PM

So I watched this week's episode again, because it was in HDTV (I am not home on Tuesday nights, so I usually watch the episodes recorded on my ReplayTV), and let me say that this is one attractive cast for a new show.

Brooke looked mighty fine in that push-up thingy at the college party. Can't believe Michael Corwin played some loser slipping Peyton ruffies in her drink.

I am almost buying this love story between Haley and Nathan.

So who does Lucas now like? Is it Brooke or does Peyton still hold the key to his heart? I still have a hard time believing Brooke has been rehabilitated in just one episode after all the crap she stirs up.
