Coming to Game Show Network...World Series of Blackjack

Not as exciting as poker, but I'll still watch, just to see if the guy at 3rd base gets yelled at like I do by the other players for hitting a 12 on a dealer's 2

Game Show Network Says 'Hit Me' With Its First Casino Game Series 'GSN PRESENTS THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK'

Series Marks First National Telecast of a Blackjack Tournament Weekly Series Offers $100,000 as Grand Prize
Players Compete for Title of World Blackjack Champion

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Game Show Network (GSN), the only network exclusively dedicated to game-related programming and interactive game play, is producing its first casino game series titled GSN PRESENTS THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK. THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK is a weekly reality game series that will premiere on the cable network in the spring and will award over $250,000 in total prizes. THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK, the first to be televised by a national TV network, will feature the world's top blackjack players as well as regular tournament participants. The players will compete for the grand prize purse of over $100,000 and the bragging rights to the title of the World Blackjack Champion. The announcement was made jointly today by Rich Cronin, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Bob Boden, Senior Vice President of Programming, GSN.

"We have made tremendous strides over the past year expanding GSN into original game-related comedy, reality, video game, documentary and even political programming. Now we've broadened further to include the casino game genre," stated Cronin.

"THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK will showcase the most popular casino card game in the world. Tournament blackjack is fast-paced, easy to follow and combines luck, skill and a variety of strategies. Blackjack enthusiasts across America can turn to THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK for exciting competition and tips from the game's top experts," continued Cronin.

"We'll be looking to maximize the drama and entertainment factors," said Boden. "This will be our own unique style of blackjack shot in a behind-the-scenes reality format."

THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK will consist of a series of episodes each featuring a table of different players being narrowed to one finalist per show. Players will start with $10,000 and the one who has the most money at the end of each respective show will advance to the final episode pitting the winners against each other. They will compete in the final show for the title of the best blackjack player in the world.

The game of blackjack is the most popular card game played in casinos today and attracts a younger playing audience. Unlike poker, participants in tournament blackjack are verbal in their game play, and especially in high-stakes games, compete not only against the house, but against their table co-players as well.

THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK will be formatted in reality style and will include interviews with each player regarding their strategy and opponents. The series will also feature expert commentators providing valuable insight to viewers throughout the episode. Through this production approach, THE WORLD SERIES OF BLACKJACK aims to bring viewers right to the table.

Blackjack? Good game to play at the casino, but it sure doesn't seem like it'd be very interesting to watch. Might be worth it for those who want to learn strategies
