So who else will be watching less TV during sweeps?

I was looking at my upcoming Tivo listing and realized that many of the shows I watch will be "benched" during November sweeps or showing less new episodes.

I am almost relieved since I have a lot of DVDs and old Tivo'd shows to catch up with.

I find the situation ironic though-- I am an avid network TV watcher and I should be planning to watch *more* TV during sweeps, but the way the networks schedule it I am doing the opposite!

Let them "supersize" away!

I'm actually behind a couple Aliases, and with the addition of 24 and hopefully Tru Calling (I'll see tonight's episode probably this weekend) I'll be pretty busy as it is! And I can finish watching what I grabbed from the Galactica marathon on the 13th, and all those Good Eats episodes I've been saving (about 2 screens worth -eek).

Same here. No:

Lyon's Den
Boston Public
Boomtown
Coupling

The L&O strategy of NBC sucks IMO. I don't watch CI. Even though I think the original L&O is the greatest drama of all-time, the new ones (basically since 2001) are lame and I can only stand to watch them once.

Still a lot of programming to watch though.

I got tired of sweeps years ago when they started with the whole gimmick thing, like having celebrity guest stars or "very special" episodes that aren't any better than a tv movie-of-the-week. I'll watch my usual shows(24, South Park, Karen Sisco, Angel)and that's it.

Seems like NBC is the main culprit, particularly with putting shows on hiatus so they can add 10 minutes of commercials to Friends and Will and Grace. They also like to put reruns of their hits on other days instead of new episodes of shows in their usual timeslot.

They are the most annoying network other than FOX, who take the number one spot for cancelling their best shows.

With Boomtown gone (is it definite? will they never bring this back?), all that's left for me is the West Wing.

Altho PBS will be airing a new mini-series version of Dr. Zhivago with the incomparable Sam Neill as Komarovsky that will be Must See TV for me.

I'm grateful for the "benching" of some of the newer shows. I need to catch up on a lot of hours of viewing still.
