South Park - 10/29

709 - Christian Rock Hard

Airdate: 2003-10-29

Cartman, Butters and Token rocket to the top of the Christian rock charts with their own messages of faith in an all-new episode, entitled “Christian Rock Hard.” When the other boys kick Cartman out of their band, Cartman pulls his own group together to make music for Jesus. Meanwhile, Stan, Kyle and Kenny are arrested for downloading music from the Internet.

this one could be really good... didn;t they do an episode where Cartman was a preacher type?

A two part episode. And they already did the band thing with Fingerbang. I guess they are starting to run out of ideas.

I wouldn't say so. Christian rock is becoming a big form of music and is ripe for parody.

I had this thought last week with the whole crab-people storyline. I seem to recall a similar storyline from a while ago. It was a funny ep, but still it seems like Trey and Matt are reusing ideas from old episodes.

Agreed. But the end was f'n hilarious, and made it into a great episode.

FuzzyBallz 10-29-03 09:54 PM

Stop it, you bastards are spoiling the damn episode. It's not even on on the west coast yet. Sounds like a good ep.

Kinda, but in reverse, on the Simpsons: The female christian rock singer that Ned Flanders had a crush on said that the other members of her band had switched to regular rock, and just changed "jesus" to "baby" in their songs.

Token was awesome.

*starts playing the bass*..."Goddammit."

I LOVED the CD cover too, and the infomercial spoof. The Myrr Album was pretty funny too.

tsohg 10-29-03 11:51 PM

"You don't even know anything about Christianity."
"Yeah but I know how to exploit it"

 This ep was dead on

Great episode. Some of those lines in the Christian songs were hilarious. The CD cover was great.

Oh and rotfl at Butters at the end.

JestersTear 10-30-03 08:41 AM

The audience... the damn audience... all of them with their eyes closed just like the sheeple in the commercials for the religious CD's.

That made the night for me.
