MATCH #09 - BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Never saw Sliders and I've seen Buffy (though I'm not a Buffy fanatic like a lot of people here). Buffy wins, despite Sarah Michelle Gellar's nose.

MATCH #10 - BABYLON 5
Never seen either show but Babylon 5 wins on the strength of the Poo Flinger's boner for this show.

MATCH #11 - THE INCREDIBLE HULK
Me and Lou Ferrigno have the same birthday. Futurama is a primetime cartoon that isn't South Park.

MATCH #12 - DOCTOR WHO
Never seen either show but that Doctor Who guy looks familiar. I know I know him but I can't think of his name.

MATCH #13 - FIREFLY
Sorry you Whedonites, but I love Firefly!!! Oh wait, Whedon did Firefly, too. Well, I've never seen Angel, so there.

MATCH #14 - SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN
Heather Thomas in her bikini in the opening credits. Isn't that enough to vote for this show? Oh, the theme song was frickin' awesome, too.

Jack Bauer is the most badass character on TV right now. His daughter is pretty hot, but she's irritating as all hell. I hope he accidentally shoots her this season.

How could you not like a show with the guy from Big Valley and the guy from the A-Team? I never saw Quantum Leap, anyway.

MATCH #09 - BTVS: I do love Sliders but that final season was just painful to watch.
MATCH #10 - DS9: This oen is literally a tie. I love both shows, the writing was excellent, the acting was great and I know B5 is going to win. I'm going with DS9 because the show doesn't get the love it deserves from critics and trekkies alike.

This one's a total duh. Deep Space 9 wishes that at it's best it was as good as B5 at it's worst.

A close matchup - I enjoy Outer Limits, but in the end I'm the Doctor's bitch (and have been for 20 solid years now) and must vote accordingly.

Oh I totally agree that DS9 is more mainstream than B5 I'm just looking at it compared to TNG. I work in academia and when you read about Star Trek it's TOS or TNG and nothing else which pisses me off. My dream dissertation would be to compare DS9 and B5 but my advisors have vetoed the idea.

I think you underestimate your power to persuade people on this list to watch B5. All your converts will come out of the woodwork and vote :)

Anyway, wrt <i>DS9</i>, I don't really think of it as "Trek." Yes, it's a Trek series and has many positive elements of the franchise, but it doesn't tap into the core of the Roddenberry vision the way <i>TOS</i> and <I>TNG</i> did. That's perfectly fine, and I have nothing against that in any way as it's simply a different series, but I do think it speaks to why you hear <i>TOS</i> and <i>TNG</i> grouped together. Their influence on the culture (especially <i>TOS</i>) is staggering. <i>DS9</i> was just a great television series. Many think it's the best of the lot ... but it's "different" if that makes sense.

Both had off final seasons, but Buffy was just flat, Sliders was horrific.

MATCH #10 - STAR TREK DEEP SPACE NINE
This may be unpopular here, but I just have better memories of DS9. It was a fresh take on the ST universe (which is more than can be said for all the other series).

MATCH #11 - FUTURAMA
No love for either of these shows, but Futurama is better.

MATCH #12 - DOCTOR WHO
When I was a around ten we went a year or so without cable, the only station we could receive was PBS and Doctor Who was the ONLY good show on the station (at least for anyone older than 6, but younger than 60)

MATCH #13 - FIREFLY
I just finished watching two unaired episodes and I'm about the watch the third. It reminds me of how good this show really was. It's such a shame it had to go.

Never saw Blakes 7.

24 is not cult/sci-fi enough for me.

MATCH #16 - QUANTUM LEAP
I really loved Quantum Leap. In fact it kind of started a neurosis of mine, which occurs mostly when I'm watching tv. For example I will be watching sports and I have a fear that I will be quantum leaped into a referee, but I don't know how to be a ref. I thought this weekend as I was watching the ALCS that I don't know how to signal a checked swing if I was a line ref in baseball. If I were quantum leaped into a ref just before the catcher signaled for a call (which is how quantum leaps always happens) I would be screwed.

I don't always relate these thoughts to Quantum leap, it could also be the result of non-quantum-time-travel activity such as the wacky hijinks that forced Leslie Nielsen to fake being a umpire in Naked Gun.
