Alias 10/12 "Reunion"
Its not on today, tomorrow, its on NOW!
Spoiler:
|
This show goes by much too quickly.
Sark is an elusive badass. Jack is a badass. Vaughn is a ***** and his wife has a ****ed-up mouth. She has a British accent, yet she's the daughter of a politician from Virginia. :hscratch: Oh, this was a good ep. Good to see a lot of Marshall again. But I'm still wondering how in the hell Dixon is Director of that CIA office. |
i'm amazed at a couple things..
|
I have to say, as an Alias fan since day one, this season is really beginning to get on my nerves.
I'm not saying I need all the answers to the open-ended questions. But I am saying I don't believe for a second that Sydney hasn't even TRIED to find out more about Will. Or Francie's double. Or her mother. Or the Rambaldi device. I understand much of this may be revealed later, but they're not giving us ANY bones. It's as though these storylines which were so important to Sydney for TWO years have absolutely NO interest for her now. I mean, c'mon... On top of that, a show like tonight's didn't advance the overall plot at all. And Lauren is a daughter of a Virginia politician? OK.... And no one could tell that was Sydney in the pixels? Please... And do we really need to give Weiss this MUCH screen time??? (Nice ending though.) It really frustrates me because I love this show so much. But this season is just starting to drag. I don't want it to go away. :( |
Rogue588, Alias does have commerical breaks and the TV is in the same room as the computer, what was I to do? :D
I agree that I don't understand how Dixon became the director. I also was a bit surprised that Syn's father had the nerves to launch a worm from Dixon's computer. Talk about foolish. The show still was entertaining, I liked the fight in Mexico, but I thought the ending was pretty flat. But seeing Sloane grin like that at the meeting does show he's still the bad guy. :) |
Yes it was a nice ending but if you didn't see it coming a mile away ...... well shame on you :)
I also had a problem with everyone not being able to recognize who the person was in the pixelated photo. These are trained observers and they couldn't see what I saw? I know we have to suspend disbelief but [Chandler voice] could the identity have been any clearer? [/Chandler voice] Sark appeared to look right at Syd but didn't recognize her either. Geez! I guess the eyeglasses disguise works for her as well as it did for Clark Kent. It's not like she stands out in a crowd or anything :) |
Originally posted by Ranger Rogue588, Alias does have commerical breaks and the TV is in the same room as the computer, what was I to do? :D ANYways...I agree with everything that's been said already. But i'd like to add that they should give Lauren a cigar and get it over with already --> :eyebrow: Those eyebrows are killin' me...ugh. Oh...and one more thing. From the time they started working together, we had to put up with "Longing Looks Of Desire" from Syd/Vaughan. This lasted almost an entire season before JJ hit the reset button and put us out of our misery by hooking them up [or moving us to the next level of hell, depending on your perception]. NOW, he's hit the reset button a second time and I swear to god if we have to put up with another season of "LLOD", i'm gonna kill something.. |
Slow week, but I'm still enjoying it. The pixellation didn't bother me too much, since it didn't seem like anybody was expecting the face to belong to someone they knew. They weren't straining for recognition, they just wanted a clear enough image to feed it into the computer.
What I'm not buying is that Marshall wouldn't rerun the program at home that night--I can't believe he doesn't keep backups. Originally posted by JuryDuty And do we really need to give Weiss this MUCH screen time??? And, on an unrelated note, from next week's preview, Spoiler:
|
meh
I hope they give Jack more to do instead of running around the office uploading computer worms all year. I don't know which is worse Syd & Vaugh together or apart like they are now. Is their any facet of the government that Lauren isn't involved in? |
OK I missed the previews for next week, can anyone fill me on what's supposed to happen? :)
Show of hands who think that Weiss and Sydney are going to have SOMEthing happen between them? I thought for sure, during that scene at the beginning when they were getting toasted... Or is poor Weiss stuck in "Eternal Friend" zone? ;) Oh, and I'd also wondered about Lauren's accent, which I noticed last week, is that the actress's natural accent or is she affecting it for this part, and if so, why?? ;) Oh yeah, ITA with Rogue, those LLOD are right above soap-opera level as it is, can they STOP now please?? ;) |

I can accept the small loopholes and I still like the series overall. I think they will eventually wrap up certain loose ends like Rambaldi, Will, and Francie.
But one thing I makes me nuts is when they go overboard on the tech stuff. In this case, the reconstruction of the face. It CAN'T be done! The original was too pixelated meaning that the resolution wasn't high enough. If the resolution wasn't high enough to begin with, no fancy razzle dazzle computer algorithm (even those with Bayesian tranforms  ) is going to automatically make up enough pixels to be able to reconstruct a face. I HATE when they do this in action movies/tv series. |
It definitely seems like something may happen between Weiss and Sid, but I can't see them doing that. I think that it is just a tease...

Nice to see Marshall get some screen time. I felt so bad for him when the face recognition software bombed (he looked so hurt - no white house tie clip for him). I like Weiss but dude, can't Syd meet people outside of the office? I don't mind Syd not looking for Will. They mentioned he was in witness protection so I'm guess the secret service is rather tight lipped about that info especially since they have no idea what Syd's been up to for two years. The CIA might trust her but that doesn't mean everybody has to. Best part of the episode was the look on Syd's face when she learned Lauren brokered Sloan's deal. I swear I thought she was going to break her neck right there (and that might not have been a bad thing). |

and is vaughan going to reference some other mission they were previously in on together during every episode (remember that mission in ____ etc...) ? We get it...you have a history! And Weiss better get himself some of that! He deserves it and Vaughan sure as hell deserves it. He's supposed to be married and keeps staring at Syd whenever he gets the chance!

If anyone thinks Sloane has turned over a new leaf, tonight erased any and all doubts, the man is evil.
Watching Sydney and Vaughn make goo-goo eyes at the reception was a little too syrupy for me. She did look good in that dress, though. Don't they have surveillance in all the offices of the CIA? Won't Jack's upload of the worm be detected later? And yes, even though you have to wonder if the blonde could have been Vaughn's wife wearing a "mission impossible" type of mask, and you have to wonder about her link to Sloane, it would not surprise me if she turned out to be a mole. |
Just a thought.
What if Vaughn's wife is in cahoots with Sloane? What if she's evil? She did help broker his deal, after all. And that would make it easy for Vaughn to leave her/kill her whatever and then reunite with Syd. Hmm... |

Took the word<s>s</s> right out of my <s>mouth</s> fingers. das |
The way the episode was unfolding, I actually flipped over to watch the rest of "Cold Case" (running 35 minutes due to football) and then watched this episode via ReplayTV recording.
|
anyone else think that Weiss will eventually become attracted to Syd physically, and go further then vaughn did.

Syd should at least have an interest in Francie. I can buy her not focusing on Will since she has an explantion of where he is, and as far as she knows, the Rambaldi thing is done with. But in her timeline, her best friend was killed just a few days/weeks ago, and she killed the double. No mourning time for Francie I guess. :p
I'm glad Syd referenced how awful that "Mexican" disguise was, because it truly was. I like how the CIA can get 1GB of memory in her sunglasses, but they need their agents to literally get on top of the subject to do surveilance. Hey, ever heard of a telefoto lens? I still can't believe Mrs. Vaughn is the same actress from Dark City. Her eyebrows need help badly. I was so happy when Jack's hacker told him he had to install the worm under admin priveleges, because it sounded technically correct. Then he goes to install it and we get the ridiculous flashing "INSTALLING" message. Everyone is familiar enough with computers at this point, can Hollywood try to be somewhat realistic? I seem to recall reading that Spoiler:
