Decent episode tonight. They sure over-hyped it last week with the whole Ed and Carol disagreeement. I thought the horse sub-plot was kinda corny, but otherwise an enjoyable episode.

You thought the horse sub-plot was corny? What about the whole Eli-Jennifer thing? "I want a refund on the pies that expired!" The hell? I'm starting to understand the Eli hate.

And oh my gosh, Carol kneeling on the bed in that shirt at the end. Wow. It's been a great week for women in dress shirts, with Teri Polo making an appearance in one yesterday on I'm With Her.

Very average show yet again this week and Carol and Ed will fight again next week...there's a shocker.

Ed showing up for Carol at the hearing was the best part of the show.

Decent episode. I was cracking up at the look on all their faces, especially Ed's, during the horse race.

The whole reason for Carol's suspension was beyond stupid and the thing with Eli was almost as bad.

Mike had some great one liners again tonight.

First off, why is my show being polluted with the face of the antichrist, Tom Green?!? Don't EVER let that happen again! :grunt:

I doubt a teacher would be suspended because she couldn't convince a student to go to college. Kind of a lame way to throw tension between Carol and Molly.

Phil was hilarious this week. While the camera is panning down the line of jockeys, I just knew that Phil would be first on line. "I'm also a horse whisperer." :lol:

Plot hole: Public access channels don't screen shows and then determine what is to be aired. That's why they're public access. They'll air anything submitted, regardless of content quality.

I even kind of enjoyed the Eli plot, although I flinched when he called her "Shawty".

Carol, Ed, Nancy, and Mike. There might have been an "and" between Ed & Nancy, but Carol came first.

Another winning episode of Ed. Loved the whole Seabiscuit vibe with Ed and Mike buying a horse, and living their dreams (only to be crushed by an not-so-good finishing position).

The intertwining of Carol's beliefs and Ed's outlook clashed, but in the end, when it matter, Ed came through with flying colors. Molly suspending Carol seemed overly rushed (and Carol didn't really get all upset about it either, maybe she is in a different place where it didn't bother her as much - not sweating the big stuff?)

Warren needs therapy...bad.

Eli's subplot was a little bizarre, but nothing too far-fetched considering where Phil's subplots have gone.

Shirley's "Johnny on the spot" ability was emerging to good comic effect.

Kind of a weak episode. I'm a little bit worried. The problem is that it's not the writers' fault. I believe they are doing the best they can with what they have. However, now that they no longer have the Ed/Carol thing to go on, the stories are going to continue to be like this. You eventually run out of material.

The only way to break out of this funk if they want to go on longer than this season, is to break up Carol and Ed and then draw out a re-union. But then it becomes to soap opera-ish. If these storylines keep up much longer, I'm afraid I'll have to let one more show go. Though, it may be a relief because damn, Wednesday nights are packed.

Didn't like the Eli thing, but for the first time in over a year, Cheswick didn't kill the episode for me. Didn't really like the horse plot either, but overall it was a decent episode.

Missed the season premiere but this episode was pretty weak by Ed standards. Couldn't care less about the pies. Ed and Mike coming out the gates was cute but the rest of the horse story wasn't all that interesting.

Boy, did that fat kid lose weight! Looked like he lost a hundred pounds. Must have had gastric bypass surgery.

Compared to last week this ep was a little on the weak side but it was still a decent episode. I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't hate Eli and I like where the storyline seems to be going. Ed and Mike running on the race track was pretty funny but I agree that Tom Green should never be allowed on television again, ever.

Question, wasn't Cheswick's dad in the Revenge of the Nerds movies? He looked familiar and I wasn't exactly sure.

yeah, he did have the surgery. that was a major subplot in the middle of last season.

last night's ep. had a few moments, like ed and mike walking their horse, but overall i thought that it was lacking. as a teacher myself, i found the whole carol plot realllyyy ridiculous. and the horse subplot didn't do much for me either. hopefully next week will be better.

Cheswick's dad was Booger from Revenge of the Nerds.

I know - he was a perfect choice to play Warren's father. :lol:

I liked the horse story. I just started busting up with the "pee like a racehorse in person" bit.

I actually sided with Carol on the whole Warren should go to college argument but whatever.

Overall, I'd say it was a decent episode. Not great but still decent.

That's what I was thinking but I just had to make sure it was the right guy.

He was also Herbert Viola from Moonlighting. Funny guy.

I knew I saw the dad before but I couldn't place him. After all these years, he still looks like a nerd. :)

He also was in Risky Business, something he says in the film, I think, supports Warren's decision.

He was also in that classic film, "Better Off Dead".

He was also in the Levi's commercials, and an episode of That 70's Show... Funny guy. First thing I said when I saw him was 'BOOGER!'.

Side question, is this the first time we have ever seen Warrens parents? I missed the second season of Ed...but dang...3 season...60 or so episodes and no parents to be shown?

I thought last night was pretty good. Cheswick didn't get on my nerves. Phil was Phil, but when is Eli going to bag the pie-lady already? Give him something more to do...

I loved the horse story. It's name was the best part, as were their faces as they watched the race from The Smiling Goat.

As far I as remember, this is the first time we've seen Cheswick's parental units. Guess the writers couldn't come up with a storyline until now.

About the horses: was there a horse theme on NBC last night? There were horses in Ed and The West Wing. I was half expecting Lenny and Greene to gallop across the screen in the L&O opening.

actually we saw warren's parents in S1. he was being sued because he and a group of his friends broke into a house and a kid got hurt. the kid's parents blamed warren. i can't remember if we saw his mom, but i know that curtis armstrong was there as his dad.

Things that sucked about the ep - Eli and the stupid pie girl. Let them marry and get a show on the WB. Also, they had a perfect opportunity for a 10$ bet at the auction and blew it by not having one this episode :mad:

I really like this show.

I AM afraid that NBC will f**k around with it &/or put on "hiatus" like Boomtown [which is another show I recently added to my programming].

I do damn NBC's promo department though..

I don't have a problem with Eli. Don't have a problem with the pie lady. In fact, I don't think I have a problem with anyone...though, I am kinda upset I wasn't watching this show from the beginning..

My guess is because David Letterman likes Tom Green. Wasn't that long ago Dave had Tom Green guest host for the Late Show.

This is the second episode in a row that Phil actually made me laugh. I don't think that's happened since maybe the first season. Him in the jocky uniform :lol:

Carol's suspension was just idiotic. The rest of the show was ok. I was kind of expecting a letdown after the great show last week. I'm not too worried about them running out of material. Mike is a gold mine and they seem to be using him more so far this season. He must be off the crack pipe ;)

The season started without any fanfare. There wasn't even an ad in TV Guide for the season opener.

I realize I'm woefully late to this party, but I had to drop in and note that in <i>Ed</i>'s neverending struggle to <s>steal</s> "borrow" as much as they can from <i>SportsNight</i>, they argued about what is the "sport of kings."
