Eastenders has been cancelled!
In their continued effort to ruin what used to be a great channel, BBC America has announced they are cancelling the UK soap Eastenders after tomorrow's episode. In what is probably a vain attempt to save the show, I would like to encourage everyone who likes the show to contact BBC America about this.
BBC America (channel) 7475 Wisconsin Avenue Suite 1100 Bethesda, MD 20814 USA Tel: + 1 (301) 347 2222 Fax: + 1 (301) 656 8591 BBCA is also holding a live chat about the cancellation on Monday 9/29 at 10am. I hope to see you there! Maria |
I don't get BBC America, but I would be mad if they cancelled it as well. I used to watch this show all the time on PBS in Minneapolis (I moved since then) and miss it. I know it's not even feasable at this point, but I'd love to see season sets of this on DVD. Of course, the only way that could work is with HDDVD and a ton of episodes on one disc alone.

BBC America has continually gotten worse with it's programming over the past 2 years. It used to be my "default" channel, but now I only watch Eastenders because I cannot take another rerun of Ground Force or Changing Rooms. Like Fox, I think they hire monkeys as programming directors! (No offense to monkeys :) )
The phone calls to BBCA are being heard and they are getting overwhelmed. Now their messages mention Eastenders by name, asking people to attend the live chat on Monday. Advertisers on BBCA are being contacted as is Discovery Networks who own BBCA. Probably all of our efforts are in vain, but it feels good to make my opinion known. I wish more people on DVDtalk had the chance or the inclination to see this fine show. :) Maria |
