Ben Affleck's new TV advertisements for L'Oreal shampoo will never be shown in his native America - to save the actor embarrassment. The Gigli hunk - who was reportedly paid $1.5 million to film the adverts - can currently be seen on British TV promoting the beauty product by passionately kissing a model, before advising his fellow men that they should use the shampoo "because we're worth it". However, the adverts - which have been derided as "deeply embarrassing" in Britain - have been banned from American television sets to protect Affleck's image there.

if anyone can find the clip, post it here. I kind of want to see how bad or embarassing it really is.

Maybe I don't know the whole story on this particular commercial, but...

It is EXTREMELY common for stars to do commercials overseas. Many celebrities have done commercials in Japan that you would never picture doing some in the States (Harrison Ford, etc.) It gives them some extra dough, and the companies are contractually obligated to only air it in that specific country, to keep from 'tarnishing' the actor's image.

Britney Spears, and Arnold Schwartzenegger are just a couple of examples of this.

Woody Allen, Stallone, pretty much most A-list celebs.

The names and the monies involved are legendary........

Yeah, I recently downloaded a couple of weird commercials of Schwartzenegger for some drink in Japan-- don't remember if I found the link here or on slashdot. Also have a couple of coffee commercials with Natalie Portman from Japan.

Why at the end is the guy being buried by noodles while Arnold laughs for way too long? What did the Japanese guy say that shamed Arnold into using this product? What in the hell is this product? These questions will not be answered by watching these commercials.

If I were Arnold, I'd be embarassed over those Japanese ads.

I didn't realize they made shampoo for toupees.

He's speaking way too fast for me, but I believe he called Arnold a cheater. Of course, you could probably guess that from the fact that they were playing a game and the guy got angry.

I've seen this ad, it's a bit embarrassing but I think it's just because you normally don't see guys in shampoo ads. But come to think of it would anyone of us say no to $1.5 million for a couple of ads. NOT ME!

The Affleck shampoo ads come across as very camp, and Affleck looks like a total smug twat in it. You can thank God that you in the US are spared from seeing it.
