Ed 9/24 (season premiere)

Damn, it feels great to start this thread. :D

Spoiler:
IN SEASON PREMIERE, ED AND CAROL FUMBLE AROUND AS KISSIN' FOOLS IN NEW ROMANCE -- Ed (Tom Cavanagh) and Carol (Julie Bowen) awkwardly sort out their newfound romance as they plan their first official date. Meanwhile, Ed represents Mike (Josh Randall) and Nancy (JanaMarie Hupp) when their newly purchased purebred puppy is a muddled mutt; Eli (Daryl "Chill" Mitchell) casts his eyes on the pies of a baking beauty (new series regular Marcy Harriell, "Rent") who is also a smart businesswoman; Phil (Michael Ian Black) takes it upon himself to find Ed a new apprentice lawyer. Rachel Cronin also stars.

Let the countdown begin.

T - 7 hours...

huzefa 09-24-03 12:40 PM

Why does Eli even bother? I mean, he's in a wheelchair!

tofu 09-24-03 02:05 PM

I can't wait. The only thing that held me over was seeing them filming a few scenes of Julie Bowen and Tom Cavanagh in
Spoiler:
NY by the Sheraton on 7th and 56th IIRC

dolphinboy 09-24-03 04:17 PM

We are actually having a few other couples over for an "Ed" party. That's gotta be the gayest thing we've done in a very long time, but we are SO excited about this, it's all we've talked about, tv-related, for about a week.

Thank god Frankie is gone. I liked her a lot, but it just took away time for the camera to be on Carol.

Timber 09-24-03 08:03 PM

Well this was my first episode of Ed ever. I have to say that I was suprised how much I liked. To bad Wednesdays is going to be so crowded that I won' t be able to watch it more.

Rogue588 09-24-03 08:09 PM

Please do not say you'll be watching Enterprise instead..:p

Loved this show. "SuperFrankie" Next week's looks good too...

BUT...I think i'm going to have to make a conscious effort to avoid any "Next Week On..." or promos whatsoever. Ed's "friends" speech lost its dramatic impact since I had seen it the 7,345 times on the promo..

movieking 09-24-03 08:11 PM

My favorite part was when Mike was singing the Grease song to Ed after he thought that Ed and Carol had slept together: "Tell Me More, Tell Me More..."

rotfl

indianajdp 09-24-03 08:14 PM

Oh my God...one of the funniest lines I've ever heard on TV:

Mike: "Would it be acceptable to say Beeyatch ?"

I'm still laughing ten minutes later   rotfl

I was rolling from this one, too.

No...Angel is on the TiVo and King of Queens will be the live show(I hate that they moved it to Wednesdays) So that only leaves the last half hour of Ed.

i liked this one...

mike:"i'd love continue this conversation ed, but i'm not a homosexual."

that and the $10 bet were really good.

i am so glad that his show is back. after the uncertainty of last spring, to know that we have at least one more season is great.

dolphinboy 09-24-03 09:56 PM

The last 30 minutes were great. "Ed" has some pretty big guns.

Can't wait till next week.

"Did you just call me Sally?"

Static Cling 09-24-03 10:10 PM

Man, they're finally together, and we end up getting like five minutes where they're actually cute and fun to watch together... the rest was just pain. Hopefully their session in the office worked out the kinks.

This show gets all the guest stars. Seeing Mo Rocca was cool.

The ten dollar bet was out of nowhere, and that helped make it so great.

Next week:
Spoiler:
Moving in together?! Yeah, that's not rushing it, especially considering how well they got along in this episode. And then apparently their romance fizzles... so they get along comfortably together for like a day, and then they move in together, and it's back to square zero again? Hooray, more pain.

I'm just saying because he always gets his heart broken. I'd like to see him not only get the girl but also keep the girl.

He's not dead. Go ask a doctor.

Anyway, it was a decent show. They've done better but it could've been total crap and I'd still be excited about it :D Mike was my favorite part of the show, as usual. I just had trouble buying how long they dragged it out. I was waiting for Carol to make Ed woo her to get her in the sack, something a little funnier than the mini-melodrama we had to sit through.

Speaking of sack, my favorite line:
Ed: You and I both know my performance in the sack is not the issue.
Mike: How do I know that??? rotfl

Static Cling 09-25-03 12:04 AM

Some other thoughts I had during the episode:

- Ed's a freakin' horndog. "So... I told you that I like you. We can have sex now, right? And by now, I mean right now."

- Molly still has a thing for Ed. She would die to be Carol Vessey right now. Give that girl a subplot and a purpose other than being Carol's friend and partner in exposition, please!

- Does anyone know where I can get that yellow-and-red shirt that Phil was wearing? I really liked that shirt.

Patman 09-25-03 12:17 AM

Man, this episode just planted a big ol' smile throughout the episode for me. Good stuff!

Charlie Goose 09-25-03 12:38 AM

Dr. Mike was classic in this episode. Some hilarious lines.

Man oh man, did Julie Bowen look sizzling hot tonight?
It took all my strength not to http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/poundit.gif

The pies subplot was slow death. Sorry to see Eli back. Now he's going to be courting the pie woman, so he'll get even more screen time. :(

Ok moving to the mature forum :)

Loved the episode, lots of funny moments and a very cool ten dollar bet. Didn't know the pie lady was a series regular so that's cool. I like Eli as a character so I'm probably the only person that doesn't mind the extra screen time.

Last season remidner question: what happened to the guy Molly was dating, the dad of the student? I can't remember what went one with that.

movieking 09-25-03 07:39 AM

I think that I saw him on another show recently. Maybe Two and a Half Men? Don't know if he is going to be a regular or not, but I would rather see him with Molly...

Patman 09-25-03 08:03 AM

Thomas F. Wilson will be back on "Ed". I asked him that same question while at Dragon Con, and he said that he had just flown in from New York (I guess upstate is where they film the show), and would be on "Ed" this season.

Geofferson 09-25-03 08:32 AM

Great episode last night. It was so nice to have all these characters back. Mike and Phil both had a handful of great one-liners, especially Mike's when he was saying those sex slang terms..."schloobity doo"...

das Monkey 09-25-03 08:33 AM

Yeah, it was Two and a Half Men. He was one of Charlie Sheen's poker buddies. Meeting him at Dragon*Con rocked. He had me in stitches as he tried to convince me the merits of owning a Japanese import toy DeLorien and how it would help me get laid. Funny man.

North Jersey mostly, about 15 miles north of the GWB.

Tho I haven't seen them doing much exterior shooting in this area so far this season.......
