Re: NCIS (CBS) --- Series Discussion Thread

Maria Bello has signed on as a series regular.

She's replacing Jennifer Esposito (Agent Quinn) who left the show after last season.

Bello will play an NCIS agent who was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the army and served two tours in Afghanistan. After joining NCIS, she built her reputation as the agency’s premier forensic psychologist. Unlike the other agents, she can second guess and challenge Gibbs (Harmon), so there will be friction but also mutual respect. She is a positive force, mischievous and at times acerbic. Her character will be introduced in the season’s fourth episode.

I recently finished the last 8 or 9 episodes that I had backlogged. Was surprised the season ended on a cliffhanger.

I thought they were a little character heavy but I liked Esposito. They should have just gotten rid of the black English guy. He gets very few lines anyway and doesn't really contribute.

Re: NCIS (CBS) --- Series Discussion Thread

Good premiere. Good wrap up to the Paraguay cliffhanger.

I mainly liked it because we actually saw Gibbs in a very vulnerable state.

Wonder how long McGee is going to keep sporting the goatee. It's in the opening credits.

No sign of Maria Bello yet. I guess she will be introduced at a later time.

I did notice that Gary Glasberg is no longer credited as an EP on the show since he died last season. They kept his name in the credits through the remainder of the season even after his passing.

The guy that played the "good" terrorist that gave McGee his sandwich (Manuel Uriza) was also playing a drug lord on the season premiere of "Lethal Weapon" which aired at the same time on Fox. I had recorded it and watched the two episodes back-to-back.

Re: NCIS (CBS) --- Series Discussion Thread

To echo Djariya and Orbi-Wan, that was a surprisingly strong opening and while I have yet to watch the other new military themed shows that are on my tivo, I bet this opener was better than the new crop of shows. Granted, those shows are new and NCIS is 15 seasons deep into its ability to entertain, but this great opening episode tells me the showrunners are not coasting on the audiences love of the core cast of characters.

Gibbs towards the end there looked like he wanted to say I am getting too old for this shit and looks like a guy who knows he should retire, but also knows he would be lost without his team and his team knows they would be lost without Gibbs.

I also loved when Bishop demanded that it was floor time again and the guys groaned, as I continue to believe that Bishop's addition to the team is a case where adding a member relatively deep into a shows run to the core cast really worked.

Another strong episode...the mothership N.C.I.S continues to show the others how it should be done.

Still a year behind. Just watched the first episode of the 2016 season. Loved seeing Bud again, too bad they can't have JAG in more episodes. Totally agree with you about Zoe not playing Coates

I am assuming we've met Abby's replacement this past week. Smart, competent, sassy, and a forensic scientist...

NCIS renewed for a 16th season: http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2...20180413cbs01/

Mark Harmon signs a new 2-year deal to continue as star and Executive Producer.

This show will probably stay on the air until Harmon finally retires from acting.

Re: NCIS (CBS) --- Series Discussion Thread

I love this show and feel that this season is actually the strongest the show has been in years but it would have been really bold of CBS to let it go out on a high note and make this season its final run.

I totally get that finding a hit replacement nowadays is way easier said than done so they will keep the mothership NCIS going and going and... .

Damn, poor Duane Henry. Did not expect Clayton to be killed off. I wonder if they will add a new agent to replace him in the offseason. I think they don't need to replace him. Clayton in most episodes felt like a superfluous character.

Tonight's Abby's final episode after being on the show for 15 seasons.

At least they left it open for Abby to come back to at least guest star. I've read she's been turning down other rolls and just wants to do her own thing outside of acting.

I didn't notice until I read a review of this episode, Mark Harmon and Pauley Perrette didn't actually share any scenes together. Not just this episode, but it seems all season. Their bond was one of the big reasons this show used to be so good. I wonder if he was angry at her for leaving, or if she's leaving because of something he did?

Re: NCIS (CBS) --- Series Discussion Thread

I hate to threadcrap, but I really did not like the Abby farewell episode. I thought it was corny and contrived and the acting was cringeworthy at times. The Clayton death was an unexpected twist, though. I agree that they didn't really give him much to do and it seemed like they would have to shoehorn him into the episode most of the time.

Re: NCIS (CBS) --- Series Discussion Thread

Well, in case anyone still follows this, the cliffhanger from last season was resolved.

The man who Jack thought was a terrorist was indeed a terrorist and he kidnapped Director Vance in last season's finale. The plot was resolved by the end of the premiere. Nobody ended up being killed or hurt.

Not really a fan of the new forensic scientist who replaced Abby. It seems like they just got another weird and quirky person just because we need another one.

Amazing how this show is in season 16.

Why? All the NCIS shows need to be brought behind the barn and shot. Let them die already.

We still watch this show weekly. It is still strong despite being so old. I have to agree with DJ though regarding the new forensic scientist. Not sure if it's the actress, script or direction, but she jumped right off the cliff of quirky right into the pit of nails on the chalkboard annoying. I cringe every time she speaks. Wickersham has a subtle sexiness about her. Not must see TV anymore but some nights there is nothing on we follow so at least on Tuesdays I know we'll watch this.

So, NCIS went for the "supposedly dead character returns from the grave" cliffhanger. It seems desperate, although it was good to see
