Name the Shows on T.G.I.F.

Does everyone remember T.G.I.F. that was on ABC for most of (if not all) of the 90s?

Well what shows were on?

I remember in the beginning Full House was on, but then later moved to Tuesdays where it lived and died...

Then I remember...

Family Matters
Boy Meets World
Step by Step
Dinosaurs

Then...

Family Matters
Boy Meets World
Step by Step
Hangin' With Mr. Cooper

Did I miss anything, I know later Sabrinia and crap like that ruled T.G.I.F. until it died finally in the late 90s or early 2000s, but what else was on?

monkey42 08-27-03 06:49 PM

wasn't Perfect Strangers on it?

edytwinky 08-27-03 07:15 PM

Yeah I could have sworn Perfect Strangers was on it.

I also remember the night ending with 20/20 after all the sitcoms were over.

dont forget about "The Eight Of Us" which was a spin-off from "Growing Pains"

DVDProfessor 08-27-03 10:25 PM

It's Friday Night
And the mood is Right
Gonna Have Some
Show you How it's Done
T.G.I.F.!

Yes Perfect Strangers, I completely forgot about that one

I don't remember "The Eight of Us" though

brookzy 08-27-03 10:35 PM

The spin-off from Growing Pains was called Just the Ten of Us

Wooderson 08-28-03 12:17 AM

Th line up I remember when I started watching around 1989 or so was:
1. Full House
2. Family Matters
3. Perfect Stangers
4. Just the Ten of Us.

How was this show related to "Growing Pains"?

David_M 08-28-03 01:40 AM

The father on the show was the coach of the High School where Mike went.

Could that really be called a spin-off though?

Sure, why not? Family Matters was a spinoff of Perfect Strangers.
I believe Harriet was the elevator operator at the company that Larry worked at.

I think he was the coach on Growing Pains for at least a season, I might be wrong:) If I remember right they didn't show his family until they were about to spin it off.

I wouldn't call it a full spin-off like All in the Family - Jeffersons, where the Jeffersons had a very big part in AITF. It was more like AITF - Maude, where Maude was only in a couple of episode of AITF before they spun it off.

wasn't growing pains on it as well?

what about head of the class? maybe not

movieking 08-28-03 07:31 AM

I really liked Just The Ten Of Us. It was a spinoff, since the coach had some spots on Growing Pains just before the spinoff actually aired in order to expose the character more. If I recall correctly, he had some hot daughters on the show. Or maybe I am thinking about Rags To Riches...

One of the daughters... the ditzy one... was on Melrose Place.

And I remember seeing the Dad (Bill Kirchenbauer) on Gallagher the other on Comedy Central. Of course he was thinner then, but was really funny.

bump to Head of the Class.... and wasn't "The Hogan Family" (the show with Valerie Harper and Jason Bateman) part of TGIF?

Venusian 08-28-03 09:27 AM

if that's the one i'm thinking about, Hogan family was on a different network. I could be thinking of another show though

j123vt_99 08-28-03 09:50 AM

What about Sabrina the teenage witch?

No, you are correct. Some major hotties on that one. Jamie Luner and Brookie Theiss.

Yeah, Harriet was the elevator operator at The Chicago Chronicle. Her TV husband, Carl Winslow, made a few brief appearances in PS as a cop.

They even referred to them on the show as The Lubbock Babes, IIRC.

Anyone else remeber Kirchenbauer as lounge singer Tony Rolletti on America 2Night: "If we can't kid each other, who can we kid!?!?!". I believe the character may have even pre-dated Bill Murray's Nick the Sleazy Lounge Singer.

And RE: spinoffs: I think the new Jerry O'Connell show is considered a spinoff of Crossing Jordan, and he was in only a handful of eps....

Hogan Family was on NBC......

Venusian 08-28-03 10:34 AM

was hogan family where the dad was a pilot or in the military or something and was rarely around. i think there were two sons.

Mopower 08-28-03 10:47 AM

The Hogan Family was on NBC right after Alf. Monday nights I think but could be wrong. Wasn't Jason Bateman the son and Valarie Harper the mom and the Dad was an airline pilot? I liked that show.
