They're moving Smallville and Scrubs against each other!?!

Is NBC trying to kill Scrubs?

huzefa 08-27-03 11:21 PM

Actually I think the WB is trying to kill Smallville. ;)

movieking 08-28-03 07:34 AM

King of Queens is being pushed back a week in order to make room for the now expanded by a couple of days Big Brother.

Groucho 08-28-03 08:12 AM

I see they are bringing "Joe Millionaire" back. Any word on how they are going to pull it off, now that the word is out?

movieking 08-28-03 09:10 AM

They are running ads with the butler Paul Hogan asking that same question. He basically says "Wonder how we are going to do it again? Join us on "October 20" to see!"

I would expect it to be leaked before then though.

Groucho 08-28-03 09:16 AM

I hadn't seen those ads. I guess that'll be part of the hook. But if Hogan's involved, how could the girl's NOT know?

movieking 08-28-03 10:06 AM

The only thing that I could see was if the series were shot at the same time, which is very unlikely since Hogan is involved again. I guess he could serve just as host and not have any involvement in the day to day of the second series (sort of like how Ryan Seacrest was added late to American Juniors and just did voiceovers for the auditions). It was always rumoured that there was more than one of these being taped at the same time (or at least before it aired, like For Love Or Money), but I doubt it.

I really have no idea how they plan to do it, without really changing the structure of the series.

BDB 08-28-03 11:04 AM

Scrubs to Wednesday :( It does not conflict with anything for me but it is such an amazing show.

Groucho 08-28-03 11:07 AM

I think that if more than one Joe Millionaire was taped at a time, we would have seen another one by now.

movieking 08-28-03 11:21 AM

Scrubs is staying on Thursday, just debuting on Wednesday. Wednesday is going to be the same as last year:

8: Ed
9: The West Wing
10: Law & Order

The more important question is... when are the DVD releases for this season -ptth- Seriously does anyone else find themselves watching less TV in favor of DVDs (and in anticipation of DVD box sets later)? Maybe this is a quesiton for another thread though... I just popped in to confirm whether or not The Agency was cancelled and it seems it is :(

I watch more TV now than ever before thanks to my 2 Replay-TVs.

Looks like American Juniors is off the schedule now as well:

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - When "American Juniors" premiered in early June, it looked as if the magic of its "American Idol" sibling had spread. The kiddie variety show attracted nearly 12 million viewers. By the time it reached its finale on Tuesday, Aug. 19, those numbers were down to just over five million. On Thursday (Aug. 28), as had long been expected, FOX confirmed that "American Juniors" won't return to the network's schedule in late fall.

According to FOX execs, the decision not to bring "American Juniors" back was made by the show's production companies, FreemantleMedia and 19 Entertainment. The production team is busy at work on the next season of England's "Pop Idol" as well as making plans for the third installment of "American Idol," which will launch on FOX early next year.

FreemantleMedia and 19 Entertainment are also at work on "World Idol," which will be a two-hour showcase competition between the winners of all of the different international permutations of "Idol." While it has yet to be determined if FOX will air that "World Idol" special, a FOX exec tells Zap2it.com that there's a "good chance."

This leaves FOX will a minor dilemma of what to do with the 8 p.m. Tuesday timeslot set aside for "American Juniors." Fortunately, it's only a temporary problem. "Juniors" had been scheduled to premiere for an six-week accelerated season on Oct. 28, leading into the commercial-free premiere of "24." Instead, the network will have to scramble to find a suitable lead-in, despite "24's" reputation as a self-starter.
One possibility may be the Paris Hilton reality series "Simple Life," which was supposed to begin this summer, but was pushed back due to perceived excitement by reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour.

FOX has not ruled out the possibility that "American Juniors" might return next summer.

FOX Doubles Up on 'Joe Millionaire'

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Maybe they should change the name of the show to "Joe Multimillionaire."

FOX is planning to run two episodes of "Joe Millionaire" per week in November sweeps, hoping for a double shot of the ratings gold the first edition delivered last winter.

The show will premiere as scheduled Eat 8 p.m. ET Monday, Oct. 20. Beginning the following week, it will air at 8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays for four weeks, leading up to a two-hour finale on Monday, Nov. 24. Viewers will see 10 episodes in all.

FOX continues to keep details under wraps as to how it will work the "Joe Millionaire" gimmick this time.
The Tuesday episodes will replace a second edition of "American Juniors," which the network decided last week to scrap. The official line was that the show's producers, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, didn't have enough time to put a second competition together; meager ratings for "Juniors" during the summer probably didn't help either.

Widespread speculation had "The Simple Life," an unscripted take on "Green Acres" starring socialite Paris Hilton, moving into the 8 p.m. Tuesday spot, but that turned out not to be the case.

The first Tuesday episode of "Joe Millionaire" on Oct. 28 will coincide with the premiere of "24" at 9 that night. "Joe" should provide a substantial lead-in audience to the thriller, which benefited from an "American Idol" lead-in the second half of last season.

Not really. Once I watch a TV show I really have no interest in watching it again.
