I still haven't seen the light, but after reading this thread, it may just be because I haven't seen the right episodes. I rented the first season and I watched the first episode "The Pants Tent" with my wife. I remember snickering at a couple points, but for the most part I thought it was awful. My wife hated it.

She went to bed and I decided I'd give another episode a try because so many people rave about the show. So, I watched episode 2, "Ted and Mary." I thought it was a little better than the first one, but I still didn't get it. A couple of slightly funny moments, but nothing laugh-out-loud. I turned off the player and slipped the DVD into the mailer to be shipped back.

I was ready to send both discs back, mostly unwatched because I felt like this just wasn't the show for me. Now... I'm thinking... maybe I should keep disc 2 and check out, "Beloved Aunt" because a couple people here mentioned it was a great episode. If that one doesn't sell me, I'm giving up.

Ok, I watched episode 8, "Beloved Aunt." It was better than the other ones I saw, but it still did nothing for me. I didn't have a single laugh out loud moment. I thought it was entertaining, but nothing special.

Which sucks because I really wanted to like this show. I love Seinfeld. One of my favorite shows of all time. I think David is a better writer than comedic actor, though.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. It has it's moments but I'm not really a fan either. I watched enough episodes of this last season to be pretty certain that it's just not for me.

I think Curb tries too hard to be outrageous. It reminds me of the poison envelope glue episode of Seinfeld. To a lot of people that was a classic, and I absolutely hated it. I didn't buy that it could happen and even if it could I didn't see the humor in it. There are a lot of moments like that for me with Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Also before I found out they were improvising the whole show I thought the acting was awful. I cut them some slack for it after I found out, but still.

I think the acting is still pretty awful. I'm not a big Christopher Guest fan, but the dialogue in his movies are improvised too, and it comes off more realistic than CYE.

Boot

I netflixed the first season of this show and watched the entire season last weekend. I found it a bit sporadic. It was kind of dull at times, but when it was funny, it was usually very funny, IMO. I grew to really like it by about episode five, and now I'm hot to see the next seasons. When the hell is season 2 going to come out on DVD?

just as an FYI, HBO appears to be re-airing the current season, 2 episodes a night, each Monday starting on May 3rd. 10:30 and 11 PM CST if memory serves.

I think you should have watched all of them. I found the first two to be the weakest of the six I saw, then number 4-bracelet. 5 and 6 were my faves, followed by 3.




I find his wife on the show to be very funny. Just the looks she gives him and some of her sarcastic barbs.

I think if you tend to be sarcastic you would enjoy this show more.

I just love how he's always doing the wrong thing and it causes problems later. Like the Elevator Etiquette episode and the Waiter Captain tip debacle.

It reminds me of things that have happened to me where I would say "if I didn't do this, that wouldn't have happened and that wouldn't have..."

That's why this show is so funny for me because no matter what Larry does, he always manages to make someone angry or offend someone.

I think watching 3 episodes was enough for me to realize that it didn't appeal to me. Not to say I'll never give it another chance, but it's dropped off my radar of things I'm interested in.




I consider myself to be sarcastic, but the show still did nothing for me.

Can someone id this episode (name and season), please. I've only seen a few episodes, but this one was great because a bunch of little things all wrapped up perfectly in the last scene. I wasn't sold on the show until I saw this episode.

I remember Larry and his wife buy a bottle of wine as a house warming present, but it is refused when they show up unannounced. There are also several other things going on: Larry is accused of following some girl, Larry is excited about removing stains from clothing, Larry is jealous of an actor and his wife, Larry is trying to find a new chef for his restaurant. I may be mixing up a detail from another episode. I most vividly remember the final scene, which was excellent, but I don't want to spoil it.

Just finished season 1 yesterday. All three mentioned are not that great. I enjoyed the last few episodes most. Probably hitting their stride. The one with the Incest group, and the one with the black Dermatologist were great. I mean slipping the host at a restaurant a prescription instead of a $20. Comic genius!

This show captures so much of why I enjoyed Seinfeld. Throughout the ep there are many small bits, twists and turns that all seem random, yet in the end they all end up intertwining in some way.

I think this is good news...

I rented the season one first disc, and the first episode was just excruciating. So bloody annoying. No-one seemed real, just people constructed for the sake of an awful joke.

I'll give it another shot, because so many people seem to have been "won over" by it - but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. I mean, the first episode was really, really awful.

This is my favorite sitcom. Not favorite sitcom currently airing, just favorite sitcom, period.

I couldn't believe the finale of the latest season. It was one of those instances where I laughed so hard that at a certain point I would just open my mouth and a high squeak would come out instead of a laugh. Sheer brilliance all the way around. And Wanda Sykes is actually funny in it.

Same boat. We liked season 1 more than 2 just because 2 got too gimicky for us. But both were hilarious. We especially love it when Larry starts to freak out and turns all red. The classic moment was in S2's premiere where he's imitating the Maury Povich girls. Unbelievably funny and true.

I'm just getting into this show. I started with the first half of S3, and then umped to S1 and have finished with that. My gf also likes it which doesn't hurt either. Like some above, I don't have HBO and own the DVDs. Got S2 and the rest of S3 to look forward to. I'll be picking S4 eventually.

This one is one my favorites too. When he says to the black guy while trying to sell the car to his girlfriend, "What are you trying to do here? YOU'RE FUCKING MY SHIT UP!" I just about died of laughter.
