MTV2's most controvercial videos uncut july 6 at 1 am!!

1:00 AM Channel 140 MTV2 Sunday, 6
Most Controversial Videos
180 min.
See all the bad videos that mtv couldn't show or that got in trouble with the censors. Highlights
NIN "closer" we acutally see what's behind those "scene missing" signs
Eminem "stan" completly uncut with all of the swearing and violent content that got the video hacked to death
Pearl Jam "jeramy" shows the kid put the gun in his mouth
Metallica "turn the page" see the stripper in all her glory
Madonna "justify my love" never aired on mtv before
Bijork "pegan poetry" see her naked!
and
prodogy "smack my bitch up" complete and uncut version that contains lots of skin and difficult to view visuals

There are other video's but these are the highlights
Don't watch it with the kids for sure. The only down side to the special is the annoying Andrew W.K is the host.

Interesting... Two days after the "uncut" version of the South Park movie showing at the same time. Are restrictions on nudity & language being lowered on July 1st or something?

I actually caught this over at a friend's house around two weeks ago when it (I think) originally aired. It really was surprising to see just how much was cut by the censors in order for these videos to air, and the amount of T&A some of them contained...especially the Prodigy "Smack My Bitch Up" video.

I was told there were no actual restrictions on what can be shown on TV (since the US is all about freedom and such.) And it was simply old thinking which was what got stuff not shown on TV. Was I told wrong?

This originally aired about a year ago with that one over-hyper and loud guy hosting (Andrew W. K. I think it was). Then, Most of the good videos were in the second/third hour - the first hour was a countdown of sorts (most controversial videos) and the second was just various random ones (and for the most part, the good ones... the countdown was incredibly lame.). The Metallica video had some serious spread beaver going on, Bjork's was just as strange as her previous few videos, but with some boobage going on. Also remember some video where a chick was driving against traffic, forget who it was but I know the song..

There are no actual restrictions on what can be shown on cable TV - it's up to the channel and it's sponsers. Network TV can show pretty much whatever they want from the times between 10:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.. MTV2 is less of a risk in offending sponsers because it's not on standard cable in most places (but rather digital cable or special order regular cable.). MTV aired Smack My Bitch Up uncut back when it first came out, for only a week, and only at 1:00 AM. (On a side note, it's not just sponsers, if a cable channel offends too many vocal people, they can end up being dropped from providers.)

I'd very much like to see Eminem bitch slap Dido... wait, no I don't. But the uncut version of Stan would be cool too.

The "Smack My Bitch Up" video is brilliant.

Mtv did air it when it came out several years ago, but the airings were all between midnight and 5 a.m.

it has a great ending too.

Thanks for the info RichC2. I don't know why more channels don't show whatever the hell they want at 10pm. I doubt anyone cares in the end. Sopranos and Osbournes is shown at 10pm here unaltered on one of our main networks, it would be like Fox or ABC doing that. No one complains, they just like being able to watch a show about mature subjects with mature words and themes used. I have no idea why this wouldn't go over well in the US.

The original had almost no footage of the videos, and I was highly disappointed.

It was hosted by two MTV News anchors, not Andrew W.K. The Asian woman, Suchin Pak, and the metal guy, Ian somethingoranother did it.

A few weeks ago I randomly caught a lot of this. Andrew WK hosted and the whole videos were shown. The strangest thing is I thought I had seen some of those videos uncut before, but there was even more footage in just about every video than what I remember.

The biggest one was Smack My Bitch Up. I remember when they first aired it on MTV. I don't have a very good memory, but I don't think anything was blurred, but there were lots of scenes that I don't remember. Matter of fact, my friend has the video on his computer and I don't know the source, but the footage I didn't remember wasn't in his copy either. Just to clarify, the version on the computer and the one I remember did have lots of controversial things in it like nudity and violence. The biggest things I didn't remember was the character shooting up heroin and a person getting run over when they were in the car.

Because people here in the US are anal, goes to church every Sunday and pretend like they are good citizens, all the while having a SM dungeon in the basement... no wait, that's for the SM fantasy forum...

Well, if you live in Japan, free porn after 10PM... *you've been misinformed*

Did they show the Unkle "Rabbit in your Headlights" video. Apparently banned for disturbing imagery. One of my favorite videos ever.

Kinda weird was that I saw this one on 120 Minutes and then a year later they have some special and mention it as a banned video.

That was what they showed on MTV, with a little "To see these videos in their entirity, tune in to MTV2". I remember being pissed off watching that ****** MTV special on banned videos that showed absolutely nothing.

Grow up MTV.

Tuan Jim - during the same special a year ago, Rabbit in your Headlights (UNKLE) was shown... should be again this year. Don't know why that video was banned... I remember it showing on Senor Moby's whatever a while back. (Where he gave a little disclaimer on not condoning violence but it being an amazing video.) But come to think of it, I think that too was an MTV2 show.

I watched too much MTV a year ago, I guess I should be glad I moved.

Anyone know if the video for Stinkfist was formally banned? Don't recall ever seeing it on MTV. And for some reason Prison Sex was allegidly banned as well.

Why does this forum go nuts everytime a station airs something that they call "Uncut"?

I've seen Prison Sex, Stinkfist (relabeled as "track #1), and the Unkle video many times on mtv. I think the Unkle video even won a vma.

So I probably shouldn't start a thread about TNN airing the "banned" episode of Ren & Stimpy uncut the other night, eh?

Wow, I downloaded an MPG of "Smack My Bitch Up" a few years ago, and I don't remember anybody shooting up or getting run over in my copy. I always thought my version was the uncut one; after all, it contains boobies. Has the true uncut version hit Kazaa yet?
