SOPRANOS will run a 6th season!!! AWSOME!
Just read it from Entertainment Weeklys EW.com.
------------------------------------------------------------
Another Whack
There will be a sixth season of ''Sopranos''. Instead of a long fifth season, there'll be slightly shorter sixth, with 10 episodes, a producer says by Gary Susman
SIX OF CLUBS It ain't over until Gandolfini and Co. sing through a sixth season
Despite the frequent insistence of ''Sopranos'' creator David Chase that he'd end the series after five seasons, there will be a sixth, series producer Brad Grey tells the New York Times. In recent days, Chase had suggested he might make the fifth season extra long in order to tie up loose ends that would have extended beyond the usual 13 episodes. Instead, Grey says, there will be a full fifth season and a slightly shorter sixth year, with 10 episodes. ''The big issue was the creative one that David had to make,'' Grey says. ''He had to decide whether he had more stories to tell, and he decided that he did.''
Still, it'll be a long time before Chase serves up his final plate of baked ziti. The fifth season is currently in production and won't air on HBO until next March, and the sixth season won't start shooting until late 2004 or early 2005, which means we could be well into 2006 before fans finally get to see the last of the series' 75 episodes. However, the New York Daily News quotes HBO officials as saying that stars James Gandolfini, Lorraine Bracco, Tony Sirico, Steven Van Zandt, Michael Imperioli, Edie Falco, Jamie Lynn Sigler, and Robert Iler have all signed on for the final season. So at least we know who doesn't get whacked in Season 5.

I say this cause for a celebration! I'm excited!

That's cool. What's up with the long times between seasons. I just read somewhere that the 5th season would start March 2005. That's probably a typo though, just seems like a really long time.

I'd rather just have the extended 5th season, but I'm sure there's a heavy marketing advantage to splitting it in two and dragging it out. Either way, as long as it's quality, this is good news.

Oh lord...
So that means we're going to have to put up with TWO MORE seasons of "fans" whining "Waaahh nobody got whacked. Waaahh not enough violence."
Joy..

Never can tell.
I wasn't crying for more violence but I know not everyone was enthralled with making the Tony/Carmela story the central theme. Deciding to go with TWO more seasons should be sufficient to please/annoy everyone to one degree or another.
Again, EIGHT MONTHS until Season 5 starts? Sheesh.

In a way, I was looking forward to seeing it end next year. I hope David Chase maintained his integrity and really means it when he says that there is enough story to go for 2 more seasons, and that it wasn't just another fat paycheck that 'convinced' him.

I guess I'm alone in giving up on the show after last season. IT just got so redundant I find the show laughable now, in a bad way. Could they milk this once brilliant show for any more. But looking at this thread, I have my answer.

I don't know if you're alone, but I think you're probably in the minority. Personally, I love this show and I'm glad to hear we'll be getting six seasons of it.

I think paulie having back surgery and missing those episodes /reshooting others really threw a kink in the storyline
