TV songs that made the charts.

I was thinking, today, about songs from tv shows. Songs that were popular or made the charts. For example, Bosom Buddies had "Movin' Out" by Billy Joel. Friends has "I'll Be There". Thought it might be fun to name some others. Anyone?

Golden Girl's "Thank You for Being a Friend" by Andrew Gold. Tho I'm not sure if it was done for the show or if it existed before it.

Dave Grusin's theme to St. Elsewhere also made the charts, didn't it?

Don't forget - every thread in this forum must include a reference to "The Greatest American Hero"... there

I don't know if it made the charts or not, but "Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones was the theme song for Tour of Duty for awhile.

I believe the theme from Miami Vice by Jan Hammer made it in the charts.

There have been many, many hits from TV Shows:

Theme from SWAT - Mike Post
Theme from Rockford Files - Mike Post
Peter Gunn - Henry Mancini
Happy Days - Pratt and McLane
Making Our Dreams Come True - Cindy Bullens (I think)

Plus those previously mentioned...The Heights song was How Do You Talk to an Angel. Bosom Buddies, if I recall, was My Life, not Movin' Out.

Oh yeah, and a personal favorite...Reflections by the Supremes was the theme for China Beach.

I think the theme from the Mary Tyler Moore Show was also;
You might just make it after all

I don't recall what the song is actually called.

No one has mentioned 2 of my favorites:

"Makin' It" David Naughton (former Dr. Pepper guy)

"Love it Binds" (Theme from 'Angie') Maureen McGovern

Both the theme song and "Quentin's Theme" from DARK SHADOWS made it into the Top 40.
