New 'Transformers' Coming to Cartoon Network
It's called Transformers: Energon and is supposed to start in the Spring and be cel-shaded, similar to MTV's Spiderman.

I hope it's not as bad as the current Armada garbage. Boy is that sad.
Ha. I didn't even know about MTV's Spiderman- when is it supposed to start? |
NOO!! why can't they make it like they did back then. I don't need them looking like crappy bugs. Make the horror end.
|
why don't they just buy the rights to reruns of the original
it'd be new to current kids and would probably be cheaper than making a new series. plus they could tie it in with the toy companies and use the old molds which would be cheaper then making new molds for new toys plus I'd watch reruns of the old series, but not this new stuff. I gave the one on fox a chance, but optimus as a firetruck was just lame. the Armada one is crap too |

Nothing beats the original
|
Why oh why must they do this? ($$$, I know). I'm with Mikehunt just buy the rights to the old series and call it a day.
|
The original had it's bad moments, too. After a while I started asking myself, why not just call up Omega Supreme?
But Armada is true garbage. Especially when you realize that they're fighting over who gets to enslave the Mini-cons. D |
The Mini-Cons blow. I was so excited about Armada...
I'm sure they will **** this one up too. |
Isn't Armada the fault of the Japanese? The Japanese are big Transformer fans, and they produced several Transformer series of their own. I thought Armada was just an importation of their most recent show.
|
"Robots in Disguise" was the Japanese series that was brought over. I'm thinking "Armada" was an original creation.
I might be wrong. |
Armada is a co-creation between US & Japan

They should re-do the entire original series in CG.
|
and even better.. they should also change the cars into animals! just think about it.. CG transformers who turn into animals!!
Oh wait... |
Originally posted by JoeyOhhhh Well I don't follow up on TF toys, but if they treated those molds like they did with GI Joe molds, odds are they can't get those molds back. |
Originally posted by Jackskeleton the import toys of the classics have been flooding the market. so the original molds or atleast some shape or form of them are still around. Sadly, a large portion of the molds are unuseable or lost. Some of the more popular characters, Jetfire and Shockwave, never belonged to Hasbro/Takara, so securing the rights to those again are nearly impossible. |
Well, they have been re-releasing the old toys at TRU. Slight modifications (missiles no longer fire, prime's smokestacks are cut short, etc). I think they've come out with Optimus Prime, Bluestreak, Jazz, Starscream, Thundercracker, Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, and Powermaster Optimus Prime (with extra armor). They're at a premium price, though (30 bucks for the normal cars), still much, much cheaper than the vintage ones.
Although Megatron was re-released in japan, no way are they letting it back out here unless they paint him bright orange. Armada (the cartoon) does stink, though. They did try to rerelease the old cartoon once... they called it Generation 2, they put these lame CG cuts in, and it pretty much bombed. Although we may love the old cartoons because we grew up with them, I'm not sure they would attract the pokemon/yugioh/anime-loving children of today (And isn't armada just a pokemon extension?) |
