My Kids Want Everything They See on Nickleodeon

Does not matter what the commercial is for... my kids want it, and they want it now. Games, toys, puzzles, arts and drafts, you name it. And Nickleodeon commericals feature every conceivable thing a kid could want. So whenever a commercial comes on and they say, "I want it! I want it!", I always say, "Well, maybe you'll get it for your birthday slash Christmas."

All of which is fine and good -- and then suddenly tonight, at 7:30 PMin the middle of Rugrats -- Nickleodeon showed a TV commercial for Chevy trucks. That is so unfair. I can't afford to get my kids a brand new truck! What's up with that?!?

Man....i can relate...between Nick and The Cartoon Network the "i want i want" is insane. However, we've turned it around a bit by telling our 4 year old that she doesn't need to believe everything they say in ads and that those things are just things etc....lately when she sees stuff on ads she'll say something like "that's kind of neat but i don't need that, right poppa?" Bestill my heart The approach has worked wonders...

kinda makes you wish you were in one of those nordic countries where advertising is banned for childrens programming. It seems half the cartoons these days are made by the toy makers, just so they have something to sell.

How about a couple nights free of TV? Play board games or something.

Well, that would involve actual parenting, which would, you know, cut into my DVDTalk time...

...and the overwhelming response is: a few nights without NCMojo? The friggin' board would just have to shut down, man!
