NYPD Blue - 5/13/03
Last night we were treated w/ a very good episode and a special appearance by Det. Diane Russell (Kim Delaney). Dennis Franz was excellent last night as Andy - I actually thought he was going to break down and cry when he was in the locker room. It was nice to see them make a guest spot from Kim Delaney. Andy asked Diane (who is now a detective in Special Victims) for a favor in getting through to a lady who was sexually abused as a child by her father - same man (along w/ his wife) who wants to take Connie's niece because they think Andy/Connie are unfit parents. It was nice to see this storyline resolved - now it looks like they might get married.
The rest of the cast was good last night, particularly Gordon Clapp (Greg Medavoy) - he had a few good lines.
It was interesting to see Clark and Ortiz work together so much while Andy and Connie were dealing w/ their custody problems. I am surprised she hasn't gone off on him after he moved on from her so fast after the death of his father. But I don't mind his new girlfriend, the ER doc. Damn - she's a fine-looking lady.

It was a good episode last night.
D. Franz was excellent and did a great job with the child custody story line.
I'm glad this story line is done with however. The whole "who gets to keep the baby" theme has been done and overdone many times in many shows.
It does look like Sipowitz and Connie are going to get married.
The only thing that strikes me about that is they seem to be two people that would never be together if it wasn't for the kids.
Take the kids out of the picture and do they really have that much in common where marriage seems reasonable?
Clark's ER doc girlfriend WAS hot. The scene where they argued and it looked like she was going to leave his place but then they ended up in the sack, was predictable.
NYPD...still worth a watch every week.

Is Diane coming back full time?
I watched long enough to see her, decided her reappearance wasn't as shocking as the previews made it seem and switched to Justice League

No - but I wouldn't be surprised if they spin her character off somewhere down the road, assuming she can stay out of rehab long enough.

I think they're talking about having her make guest apperances through out the season next year.
As for last night I thought it was pretty good. Franz was great and it was great to see Delaney again.
I think they should have added a little more tension between Rita and Clark. I don't think with them breaking up and her knowing that he's already dating the Doc their's no way that goes as smoothly as it did.

I think the tension is coming next week. Clark probably shows up to next crime scene late with a big hickie on his neck.

This is one of my favorite shows and has been for years. Last night it was pretty darn good, esp. the scene where the molested daughter confronts her father. Good stuff. I am 100% for bringing Diane back full-time.
The whole Clark/doc thing just drove me nuts. OK, even though I cannot relate in any way, I am willing to believe that there are, in fact, people who jump into the sack on the first/second date, but why does EVERY character on this show have to do that? Why can't there be ONE character who's not a male or female slut? I know it's part of the show, the "edginess," but that is so old & tired that it'd be much more "edgy" if someone, anyone, just had a normal relationship for a while without leaping right into bed. Just a wild & crazy thought, I know...
Anyway, are there 2 episodes left this season? Will Andy/ Connie get married before the season ends?

What about Medavoy? Of course, that isn't by his choice.

Yes, good point--he's apparently been pretty celebate from quite some time. However, in season one he jumped right into the sack with Donna while he was still married to his wife...

I haven't seen season one since they originally aired, but didn't that romance take time to develop. I don't recall it just all the sudden just happening.

The courtroom confrontation was great too. One of the best episodes this season, in my opinion...

I actually think they took an easy way out with the baby storyline. I think it would have been interesting to see Andy try to reconcile his past behavior. Even with his attorney his attitude was more "I use to be an Ahole, but I'm good now". Instead of showing how Andy has grown, they showed how the grandparents were worse than what the others believed Andy to be.

Agreed. Excellent episode. I too am glad the baby storyline is finished, but it was a solid resolution. The scenes with Diane were great, but I'm biased what with being obsessed in love with Delaney and stuff.
Andy's locker room scene was absolutely fantastic. When this show brings it, it can be one of the best out there.
John's scenes were predictable and annoying, but addressing the quick sack-jumping, keep in mind what these guys do for a living. They live their lives on an adrenaline edge that most of us probably don't understand. I can see how that lifestyle would lend itself to that type of sexual behavior. Plus ... she's hot.

P.S. Agreed, however, that she was in fact, hot.

Kinda makes sense with the "franchise" thing going.
