According to a release on nbcmv.com Ed is moving back to Wednesdays at 8, and Boomtown will be Fridays at 10.

NBC release on fall schedule

shanester 05-12-03 06:17 AM

I watched a few episodes of Boomtown then lost interest..They may have to find a different time slot..

I find myself leaning more towards Dragnet these past few weeks they were both on at 10pm sunday nights

lisadoris 05-12-03 07:14 AM

Good news. NBC's moving Boomtown to Friday's at 10 which is L&O SVU's slot so I wonder where that is going? Will they keep Ed on Wednesday nights as a lead-in for Boomtown? Guess i'll have to rearrange my TV watching schedule once NBC is doinw playing musical chairs with the shows I watch.

Here is a probable night-by-night breakdown:

  to Boomtown and American Dreams getting renewed.

I am glad that Las Vegas made it through the pilot phase. James Caan is one of my favorite actors. This gives me a good excuse to dump CSI: Miami. However, I question the wisdom of putting it up against Monday Night Football. I'll probably also check out The Lyon's Den if only to give me an excuse to dump Enterprise.

I kind of hope they don't move L&O SVU to Tuesdays. It should not go head to head with NYPD Blue.

BDB 05-12-03 08:06 AM

Yay Boomtown. That is great.

movieking 05-12-03 08:17 AM

I gave up on Boomtown as well, and much prefer Dragnet now.

A big thumbs up for the renewal of Ed as well!

 for Ed and Boomtown. Of course I am happy about Ed since I have watched it since the beginning, but I am really happy about Boomtown, because I didn't start watching it until halfway through the season. I really like it and I think it has a lot of potential, especially the cast. Let's just hope they stay consistent w/ their non-linear storytelling next season - they seemed to get back to it the last episode or two.

 for Boomtown. Best Drama on NBC, IMHO.

Why did so many of the posters lose interest in that show? Some of those later shows were terrific. I was dissapointed in losing some of the non-linear narrative, but they never completely aboanded it.

I was pretty stunned Ed got renewed, but I guess there wasn't anything stronger to replace it with. Good news for that show's loyal (but small) following.

I imagine it's because they promoted the hell out of their "unique" concept and then had abandoned it by the 3rd episode. I watched every episode and love the show, but I can see how people would look at it and feel like they were sold a bait and switch.

I'm glad they're renewing Ed, but I'm concerned about them switching nights again in less than a year. Oh, well... beggars can't be choosers. Yay, Ed!

According to USA Today, Ed's staying put on Wed before The West Wing. I was kinda suprised by that myself, thinking they wanted a stronger lead-in for The West Wing at 9.

Boomtown's moved to Friday at 10. Now my wife and I will have arguements since she usually watches 20/20. Man, I need a Tivo.

Actually there is conflict between the sources listed in this thread. Some have Ed moving to Friday at 9 and some have it staying put. Same goes for Boomtown. We'll find out officially later today at the NBC Presentation.

Actually - I take this back - zap2it's article makes the lineup sound pretty official...

NBC Adds Six Shows; 'Boomtown,' 'Ed' Saved
Mon, May 12, 2003 10:00 AM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - NBC, which touted its stable schedule at last spring's upfront presentation, is shaking things up some for next season.

The network has ordered six new series -- three comedies and three dramas -- while giving on-the-bubble shows "Boomtown," "Ed" and "Good Morning Miami" a reprieve. All three earned full-season orders for 2003-04, with two moving to different nights.

The new lineup has changes on five of seven nights, with only the Wednesday lineup of "Ed," "The West Wing" and "Law & Order" and the Saturday-night movie remaining intact. The biggest shake-up will come on Tuesday, traditionally a strong night for NBC but a big problem this season.

New comedies "Whoopi," starring Whoopi Goldberg, and "Happy Family," featuring John Larroquette ("Night Court") and Christine Baranski ("Chicago," "Cybill") will run in the 8 p.m. hour. "Frasier" remains at 9 p.m., entering what could be its final year. "Good Morning Miami" moves from Thursday to the 9:30 p.m. spot on Tuesday, while "Law & Order: SVU" shifts from Fridays to 10 p.m. Tuesdays, where it will likely take on ABC's "NYPD Blue" and CBS' "Judging Amy."

Taking "Miami's" spot on Thursday is "Coupling," the adaptation of the British hit about a randy group of friends. It falls into the cushy timeslot between "Will & Grace" and "ER." "Friends" and "Scrubs" keep their spots.

Among the dramas, "Las Vegas," starring James Caan, Molly Sims and Nikki Cox, has the most protection, settling into the 9 p.m. Monday spot between "Fear Factor" and "Third Watch," which is moving back an hour. "Crossing Jordan" will return in January, allowing star Jill Hennessy time off to have her child. It hasn't been given a schedule slot.

The lighthearted "Miss Match," which stars Alicia Silverstone and Ryan O'Neal, will air at 8 p.m. Friday. "Dateline" will stay at 9 p.m., while "Boomtown" moves into the slot formerly occupied by "SVU." It will try to continue the long tradition of crime shows -- dating back to "Miami Vice" -- that have thrived in that timeslot.

"Boomtown's" move makes way for "The Lyon's Den," a legal drama starring "West Wing" alumnus Rob Lowe, to grab the 10 p.m. Sunday spot. It could face off against "The Practice" if ABC brings the show back to its old timeslot.

NBC has also ordered "The Tracy Morgan Show," starring the former "Saturday Night Live" regular, for "later this fall" but hasn't given it a spot on the schedule. The unscripted show "The Apprentice," featuring Donald Trump, is on tap for midseason.

I'm glad that The Lyon's Den got that 10 pm Sunday timeslot. It was speculated as a Wednesday 8 pm show which looks to be a logjam if Smallville ends up there. I already watch That 70s Show and Enterprise there. I'll definitely check it out.

Boomtown in the Friday 10 pm timeslot is fine with me, but I really don't like seeing SVU go head to head with NYPD Blue.

 to Las Vegas. Not only does it feature the great actor, James Caan, but some eye candy as well in Molly Sims & Nikki Cox. Still have to question the placement - vs Monday Night Football.

NBC Media Village where NBC has their official press releases shows it returning to Wednesdays at 8, or at least it did earlier this morning, they seem to have removed the release that showed their fall schedule.

Red Dog, Las Vegas does seem intriguing. Be nice to see James Caan get some work. Hopefully they will give it a chance and let it air for more than a month or two. Can't complain about seeing Molly Sims or Nikki Cox on tv either. :D

I agree that it's dumb to put SVU against NYPD Blue - even though Blue isn't as great as it was, it's still good and it has a loyal following (like me).

All my bubble shows came back: Ed, Practice & Angel...

I'm happy as a clam juice!

It doesn't matter to me - I have 2 Replays. I would suspect that there is a decent amount of common viewership there. It will be an interesting battle. I can see why NBC did this though - SVU was generating impressive ratings for its timeslot so I guess they want to try to use it as a club in a competitive timeslot.

You bring up a good point. Did any major "bubble shows" get the axe? I can't think of any.

I have an idea - you could lone me one of your ReplayTVs indefinitely. ;) Then I definitely wouldn't miss any of my shows.
