Smallville (04/29/03): I think I just saw Tom Welling's backside...

They had a commercial during Everwood where they showed Clark getting roughed up by some guys who threw him a furnace, the the door blew off and he walked out. Then they did a back shot of the furnace and flames and his butt!

Not that that will make me watch Smallville again...

they better not have Taran Noah Smith come on in the future as a bad guy

as for this episode
Spoiler:
I don't care if they're super strong, what exactly held them to the ground when they harpooned the van?

That's funny because I was thinking the same thing about five minutes ago.

Great episode aside from the Henry Small/Lana subplot. I loved the ending.

And for those without AOL, the Chloe Chronicles will be on WB's web site this Friday.

There was definitely not enough Lex this episode. And why in the hell did Helen have to be out of town at a medical conference?

I thought tonight's ep was alright, nothing special, but I did like the little scene between Clark and Lex toward the end when they were talking about the previous day's events. Those two play off each other so well.

Ok these are just my theories. Anyone else agree with them?

1) Linal Luther thrashed the torch so that he can control chloe

2)Helen will die or leave lex which will send him over

3)The Kents will have a miscarrage which will be another clark feels helpess episode

4)If Chloe gets a job with the daily planet then a young lois might come into the picture

5)Lana is going to get hurt because of clark, and will end they're would be relationship

6)Clark Dies

This episode was just off a bit.

Why would the souped up kids not tell what happened to them (Clark kicking that butts)? That seems to strain plausibility.

Didn't really care about Henry Smalls' marital problems.

Chloe getting in cahoots with Lionel seems forced as well. So much for journalistic integrity and objectivity.

Lex has to have a clue about Clark's exploits as well as his father does.

1) I agree. He knows some things about Clark, knows Chloe knows Clark and wants to know the "truth". It is so "Luthor" to manipulate Chloe into doing his dirty work in regards to Clark.

2) I've stated that I think Helen may die as a result of Lionel's machinations which will cause Lex to go the the "dark side" so to speak.

3) Yeah, I don't Clark will have any siblings. What purpose would introducing a baby into the story server anyway?

4) Could be.

5) I hope not. I'm thinking she learns the truth about Clark and realizes that she can't have him because his responsibilities he won't be able to commit strictly to her. Or something like that.

6. Magic Eight Ball says: Highly Unlikely.

Yeah, I don't know why the guys wouldn't spill the beans on Clark, but thinking about such things would just spoil my enjoyment of the show so I just let things like that slide.

Don't really care about Henry Small but, what the hell, more screen time for Lana = me!

Chloe's journalistic integrity and objectivity are not impared unless she censors herself or fails to appropriately cover Lionel Luthor related stories. We'll see which way she goes. She can't stop someone from donating money to the school. The Luthor's were never her main journalistic targets anyway so much as the "Wall of Wierd" material which she has a passion for and which Lionel is encouraging her to continue pursuing.

Of course Lex has a clue about Clark's exploits! He has a whole room in the mansion devoted to them. I thought his comment to Clark at the end of the episode cleary demonstrated his suspicions.

Spoiler:
Right. And assuming that they have some super density gravitational powers what kept the harpoons from ripping out of the doors? And assuming that they were super-dooper harpoon cables which wouldn't break between the super stregnth and super density gravitational powers of the guys holding the cables and the exceleration and momentum of the truck and super-dooper harpoons which wouldn't rip out of the doors, what kept the doors from ripping right off of the truck while the truck sped away? Ah, doesn't matter. I was just having fun anyway.

since it's the next day, and not a huge plot point I'll skip the spoiler tags
the harpoon thing didn't really bother me that much, but they should have shown the cables connected to their vehicle, or some kind of anchoring post or something to give it more credibility. and yes, I do realize it's a show about a guy with heat vision

I think it's similar to a rechargable battery..once the kryptonite was off site, the sun recharged him..

This ep wasn't that bad..I thank GOD there were no Lana "grrl power" montages this ep..

But he was INSIDE a building. There was no sunlight. I don't remember a healing factor in the comics.

I can buy the recharge of energy. But the healing factor, no.

hmmm...there were windows..? no wait, there were cracks in the ceiling...maybe the flames simulated the surface of the sun which caused his physiology to think he was out in the sunlight...

that's it...i got nothing..

Probably because the actress is only signed for a certain number of episodes per season.

well, the outside door of the building was open and there was a window in the furnance so sunlight would have gotten to him, just not a direct ray

Pretty good episode, with only two gripes:
1. Lana just keeps pissing me off. Clark walked in to the Talon all bruised up, and Lana asked what happened. Clark responds, "Oh, some guys jumped me." Lana's friend has just been beaten. Does Lana ask follow up questions? No, she jumps into her "Oh woe is me" schtick. Bah.
2. It makes no sense for the hoodlums not to tell that Clark was involved. The only thing I can think of is that maybe Lex knows, but paid them to keep their mouths shut about it?

Fortunately, I closed my eyes during that bit. The episode definately rocked. Clark busts out of a blast furnace (except for the backside). The battle between Clark and the super-strength thugs was real good.
