Simpsons 4/27 - Dude, Where's My Ranch?
6.5/10, Not bad
What I liked Andy Serkis, you're officially the man, one line = pure hilarity. The plotlines tied well together, me like that. The Ned and Moe songs were catchy and amusing. Rich Texan was actually tolerable for the most part(his line about blanks was good). Maggie moments are good too. What I didn't like Moe almost got psychotic, but thank god that was resolved in the final minutes. Lisa's first crush? Highly doubtful. The first act went by way too fast (sheesh, Homer's song became a hit in less than 30 seconds). |
LOL at maggie doing britney spears and the buzz cola. :)
|
Great episode. My favorite bit: when the Beaver accidentally snaps the photo of the other beaver, the one in the photo has red eye. It's those little subtleties that always crack me up.
|
Homer had some great lines. Like the one to the Native American guy about how they are guests in our land. Also when he was going back and forth with him, asking him to put a casino on the land and asking for 8 deck blackjack.
|
Another subtlety: The noise Homer made was actually an Ab. (was playing my guitar at the time, and checked)
|
What song was the Moe Syzlak band playing? Sounded familiar, but I can't place it...
|
It was a variation on the old disco hit "More More More" by the Andrea True Connection. Andrea True was a porn star in the 1970's.
|
I didn't really care for this episode.
The Andy Serkis spot was the only bright spot for me. |
Loved the Maggie/Britney Spears thing.
She did exactly what Spears did with the Pepsi. Hold it out and blink. Funny ****. Great. Did I miss Homer's "What-Evvvvvvveeer" ? In the commericals he says it, but in the place during the show he doesn't and replaces it with something else. |
Wow I thought this episode was one of the worst of the entire season. Amazingly bad. I have gotten used to the plots not making any sense, but this episode was really out there.
I have always believed that any new Simpsons is better than none, but this episode really pushed that theory to its limits. |
Was the bit where Moe drove past the hospital with the one guy supposed to be a reference to some movie or something else? Couldn't really figure it out.

He landed in Moe's Car. The guy wanted to be driven to the hospital. Moe asked him if he saw the movie Misery. The guy said no. If you haven't seen Misery ... the joke will mean nothing. |
It was a really silly episode with the weakest plot ever, but it was still enjoyable. If I had really paid attention to the plot, I'd be bothered about the storyline. That's just stupid, but I found it funny nevertheless.

eh..
scattered laughs here and there.. did enjoy Homer's comments about the Native Americans too.. ;) |
Lisa said this was her first crush...... ?
The Enviornmentalist kid The kid From West Springfield Elementary Nelson Milhouse Cory |
When did she like Milhouse? Milhouse likes her, but she is creeped out by him.
"Sure, what's a big sister for! Ohhh, I shouldn't have said that!" |

She's also been 8 years old for the last 14 years.

Wow, now that was really bad. Recycled jokes, anyone? I mean, how many times have we heard the "here's something strange/disgusting to consume, no, just kidding, it's actually (brand name product), 'Eeeew, (brand name product)'" bit? Or how about the "Ned likes 'plain' flavored things" joke for the dozenth time?
I think the big problem with the show these days is the smaller number of actual jokes. It used to be that if a joke on the Simpsons wasn't particularly funny, there were three more out there before you even realized it wasn't funny, and for sure one of those would be more than funny enough to make up for it. Nowadays they reeeeeally make sure you notice. Every. Joke. I mean, how long did that Shatner singing bit go on for, a minute? Yeah, hi-larious. Same with the Maggie dancing bit - if it was two seconds long, it would have gotten a chuckle. Instead, they draw it out until you have time to remember that "kids acting like Britney Spears" jokes are about three years past funny. |
I must say, that was one bad episode. I don't normally say that either. It seemed like a recycled joke after another. I mean how many times will the simpsons have to run away from _____ to some remote location? Happened in the tomaco episode, happened just this season aswell. Gets pretty old. I agree with beefhead, the jokes seemed to over stay their welcome to often then not. the maggie dancing would have been nice if it indeed only lasted a few seconds.

Recycled jokes galore. And since when can Homer play piano and read/write music?
