Friends 04/24/03

Episode: The One With the Soap Opera Party

Spoiler:
Ross (David Schwimmer) is all a-twitter when he meets a fellow paleontology professor (guest star Aisha Tyler, "Talk Soup") - who's a stunning knockout -- but when he takes her to Joey's (Matt LeBlanc) rooftop party for the actor's soap-opera series co-stars (Kyle Lowder, Matthew Ashford, Farah Fath and Alexis Thorpe, NBC's "Days of Our Lives"), she intimidates him with her impressive list of former boyfriends. Meanwhile, while Chandler (Matthew Perry) is stuck watching an angry harpy act out her one-woman play, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) and an intoxicated Monica (Courteney Cox Arquette) make fools of themselves at the shindig chasing after the daytime hunks.

Looks like Friends finally adds some color

Edgy!

Now, if they could just add some much needed humor. Again.

they needed the baby for a ratings stunt and figured the series would end with it. but now thats its renewed they can't find a way to keep the chemistry with a baby around....something i posted about last season when rachel was pregnant (i'm sure many people kenw this would be a problem)

I wonder if they think everyone will just forget about the baby and never mention her again?

I have to admit that Ross was kind of funny tonight. That's a couple of weeks in a row for him - wow, Ross consistently being funny. Bizarre.

Does anyone else think Courtney Cox is the worst part of this show? She is so obnoxious - her performances just grate on my nerves now. She's lost all of her cuteness...

No offense to all the ppl that wanted 'color' on the show, but that chick wasn't even half-hot. Why couldn't they bring in Tyra Banks or Halle Berry or someone if they wanted a hot black chick?

I think Aisha Tyler is very cute.

Something's wrong when Ross is the funniest part of the show. His line when talking about the Noble prize and him submitting 2 papers that were both widely discredited was hilarious.

Ummm... hot black chicks don't equal to super vague bitches or sluts w/ huge fake titties. And about the "color" remark? Unless a person's albino, he/she is categorized as "colored" too.

I agree w/ MrX, Aisha Tyler has the very natural look, she's a fine looking chick. And it looks like she's gonna be appear in 4 more episodes this season.

And you all knew Joey's gonna get the chick right? The bastard.

I think Aisha Tyler is damn near flawless. I don't remember her being that hot on "Talk Soup". In addition to her looks, she seems pretty classy. Now why couldn't the producers have brought on a character really urban like Foxy Cleopatra

My question exactly. That's kinda dumb that they just leave the baby out -- the show's writers are smarter than that!

I think they should have gone with Queen Lateefah!

bahist17, Cox is the worst. They put no effort into writing her character at all.

Cox is just a pinup now; I mean what the hell was she wearing? (not that I'm complaining)

Same here. I thought she was great on Talk Soup - someone who's attractive AND has a great sense of humor - nice combination.

I think the last time I saw Ben in an episode was the one with the Hanukkah armadillo, Santa Claus and Superman.

Anyway, not a bad episode. It'll be interesting to see the direction that they take with Aisha's character. Maybe this'll be the thing that'll drive Ross and Rachel together, I hope. And I like her look. She's cute.

But as a graduate student, her little comments about dating the two Nobel prize guys were funny but a big no-no. You never date your advisor. (unless you're dumb and won't make it out of your program )

But her entrance on the show seems so... forced. After all these years of just white friends, white co-workers, etc., they just throw in one black person?

Nothing new about the concept of the token black person.

Actually she was not a graduate student, she was a professor.

Put me in the camp that thinks Aisha Tyler is a fine-looking woman...not to mention she's funny and eloquent and tall.
