Just made this conclusion about T.V. shows and the letter S

I don't know if it is just me or not but I went into BB the other day and I was looking at their box sets and realized that ther are a whole boatload of really good sets that start with the letter S

Sopranos
Six Feet Under
SportsNight
Simpsons
Star Trek NG
Star Trek DS9
South Park
Speed Racer
Sex In the City
Stargate-SG1
The Saint
Space 1999

I just found this to be a little odd to me, I think that it is by far my favorite letter for Season sets. Just wondering what your thoughts were.

RobCA 04-24-03 01:51 AM

Yup, I've noticed this too. I use subfolders in DVDAficionado, so the pages will load faster, and a while back, when I started buying more and more TV shows on DVD, I took the one TV show subfolder I had set up, which had gotten pretty big, and split it into three. My "S" shows have a subfolder all to themselves. The other two are A-R and T-Z. Of course, S is by far the most popular letter in my movie collection as well. The only other letter that even comes close is M, and ironically, I only have two "M" TV shows: Mad About You and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

I appreciate your long list of all the tv shows starting with the letter "s" but I was more refering to the ones that were already out on DVD.

BMAG 04-24-03 09:41 AM

Don't forget The Shield.

Wag The Frog 04-24-03 09:52 AM

Simpsons
Seinfeld
Saved by the Bell

These are the only tv shows I like enough to actually buy. Yes, you read that right, I said Saved by the Bell.

BigPete 04-24-03 10:09 AM

I believe you will find that there are more of everything with the letter S. Movies, books, etc.

Roto 04-24-03 10:54 AM

My 2 favorite TV shows both start with M: Magnum P.I. and My So-Called Life. And they make up 40% of the TV series in my DVD collection. (The others are Freaks and Geeks, Jonny Quest, and Gilmore Girls. So I don't have any TV shows that start with S. In fact, I don't even have any from the entire second half of the alphabet!)

drmoze 07-24-05 06:21 PM

I agree--a few of my favorite sets are the Simpsons, Sopranos, Space 1999, definitely Sports Night, and Sex/City. Really like the Saint series too but haven't picked it up. Maybe some day if it's on major sale.

(I've learned my lesson for A&E releases to wait for the *entire series* to be released, as it's always a much better deal than buying individual volumes or 2-packs.)

PopcornTreeCt 07-24-05 06:38 PM

Don't forget Smallville.

grundle 07-24-05 07:38 PM

Of course if they ever release Square Pegs then I will finally get my first S!

critterdvd 07-24-05 07:41 PM

Are there any tv shows that start with the letter "y"

illennium 07-24-05 07:52 PM

The Young Ones.

Squirrel God 07-24-05 08:28 PM

Lots of great shows that end with the letter S too.

Alias
X-Files
etc.

Maybe the ultimate shows are those that start and end with S? Hhhmmm.

The thread title doesn't start with an S.

mookiemeister 07-24-05 09:08 PM

I just checked my DVD collection and I also have more TV boxsets starting with letter S than any other letters. I have 21 season boxsets starting with letter S (Seinfeld, Sex and the City, Simpsons, Six Feet Under, Star Trek TNG, Star Trek DS9, Star Trek TOS). My 2nd most boxset letter is B with 13 (Babylon 5, Buffy Vampire Slayer, Buck Rogers, Band of Brothers).

Roto 07-25-05 02:05 AM

I can't believe I ever posted in this stupid thread :p
