Lucky 4/8/03

Has potential don't you think? But a half hour, should have been the full hour.

Definitely has potential. I also feel that it needs to be an hour long, though. It's not a sitcom. Why only half an hour? I couldn't believe it when the credits started running. I was like, "What? It's only half over."

That's the only thing I see as being a potential problem here.

I too wish it was an hour long.

Any show that plays Ram Jam's "Black Betty" in the opening minutes has my attention.

I think it worked great as a half hour show. Just like The Shield, they packed so much into that half hour and yet it never felt rushed. There's been a couple episodes of The Shield where I felt like I got a whole episode worth of story before the first commercial break and I love that. Too many shows out there drag and have to add filler material.

I think there should be more variance in show lengths. I love that Gilmore Girls gets an hour even though it's a comedy and a show like Scrubs often deals with dramatic material.

It seemed like they took an hour episode and just lopped it in half; plenty of good material there to me. Granted, I really had it in my mind that it was going to be a hour long in the Shield slot so that made the end more that much more jarring after only 30 minutes.

Add me to the "surprised it was only a half hour show" army. I thought it was a good show, and I love Vegas... I'll be TiVoing it.

Does anyone know more details about Lucky's wife's death? They didn't address why/how it happened, did they?

P.S. I pulled 6th on the high score list on the Lucky game on the FX site... pretty fun, actually.

Wow, I too was surprised that the show was only a half hour long. I liked the show a lot and think it has a lot of potential. The opening sequence was just great and the "Black Betty" song just fit.

Was I the only one practically dying of laughter when Lucky's friend kept getting hit by a car on purpose to raise the extra $$$ he needed?

Also, Dan Hadeya (sp?) was just great. The line about Marmaduke (sp?) was just hilarious.

Again, wish the show was longer, but I'm going to definitly check it out again or at least tape it.

Need to get a damn TiVo already...

Well, everybody here has said what I was going to say..."What? Only 30 minutes?!?" Good show, though. Has potential.

Awesome show. It is the best new show I have seen all year. I have always liked Corbett ever since he did Northern Exposure, this charachter is just as good it seems.

Pretty good. Interesting way to set up the series. The car scene really was great. Hope he gets back at Wiesenberg (sp?) in a future ep.

Yeah. Half Hour? Ditto. Sentiments exactly. Blah Blah...

Effing great show though! DEFINATELY lived to all the hype I was force fed during the Shield. How did they introduce that many great characters in the first episode of a half hour show!? What were there, like 6 or 8 unforgetable characters? I mean, spin-off worthy even. I may be overstating all of this but I was REALLY impressed; with the show and with FX in general. SOMEONE is paying attention to HBO. I can almost hear the new "Tuuuuesssdaaaay!...." theme rolling through my head.

Same here.

I thought the show was kind of...eh. Not that many funny parts. The dude who kept getting hit by the car was great though. I'll give it some time since most pilots are subpar when compared to the rest of series run.

I like the way this show is looking and I have added it to my Tivo wish list. I think there are too many 1 hours shows, so I'm kinda glad this one is only 1/2 hour.

It was great at the end when he sits down next to the cocky poker player.

I hope they show lots of Las Vegas scenes like CSI used to do (It seems like they show a lot less of the city now).

Thought the show was pretty good. Def some room for improvement, but will watch simply because it's se in vegas, and has the dude from Northern Exposure..
