Survivor 04/03/03

Can someone recap like the first 10 minutes of tonights show? My freakin digital recorder didn't start recording until then. I was really hoping to see Dave and Butch's reaction to the vote last week.

Better yet, does anyone know where I can find a copy of this weeks Survivor on Usenet?

I hate when they do this type of immunity. It's not fair at all.

Not hard to see at all. That person was the biggest threat to everyone else. If it had not been for the type of immunity challenge that it was, they might've stuck around longer.

And I am getting so tired of that smug little a$$hole Rob. It is so obvious to see he was the kid nobody liked and everybody picked on in high school. What's with the whining about Dave hugging Skeletor at night? Poor Baby, maybe if every male except him gets voted off, he'll get a chance? And don't think for a minute that if it does come down to him and three women that he won't be the first one gone. Sheesh.

Rob is funny, but I agree that he is a jerk. But he is flying under the radar, and keeping his rude comments to himself, so he may be around for a while...

Rob bothers me the most. I don't understand what his plan is. Vote off all the guys and then turn the women on each other? Either way I don't see him winning. I did get a chuckle when he was all pouty about Heidi and Dave.

Also, Matt's breakdow wasn't all that, but then again it was to be expected. Damn editors.

I was shocked at all the Dave votes too, especially from Butch !
Why would he vote for his friend ?
He must know he is out next.

I don't like Deena. Dave shares his reward with her and she tells him she will try to get the others to keepo him around for 3 more days and then she votes for him herself !

Deena, I thought women were great and men sucked ?
You got your fat a$$ kicked in the reward challenge against Matt & Dave !

How long has Christie been using a hearing aid? Can she use it whenever she wants or only certain times?
Boring episode, except for the bathing part. They could spend the hour showing Jenna wash herself, and I'd stay tuned.

Loved Jenna's (or was it Heidi's) reaction when Deena was hungry after eating ice cream... that fat pig.

I forget... does the jury get to vote before or after they get to watch the show? Must be before, or Rob's really screwed.

I can't believe what Heidi talked about when they were at tribal council. She revealed to the men, who had been too dumb before that to notice, that while the men were picking each other apart, the women were pretty much sticking together. If I were her, I would keep that to myself, at least until the women get the majority.

And how dumb are the men to widdle themselves down like that? Coming into the merge, they had the numbers, and should've voted the women off one by one, if not last episode, at least on this episode. Now they're even, and sissy boy Rob is more on the women's side for good. Is he counting on winning immunity from the women every time, so he doesn't get voted off? He should keep Matt around as long as possible, since that's the one guy who he's really duped and will probably never vote for him. They should also try to break up this Heidi/Jenna alliance, since those two will stick together until the end.

On a side note... I don't think I've ever seen one of those "personal interviews" with Butch. For the entire duration of the season. I wonder what he's planning (since his vote yesterday was curious), and if he's got an alliance with at least Christy. Otherwise, he's gotta be worried that he's next.

I think Butch voted for Dave because he needed to separate himself from Dave, but Dave was also a threat for him, too. I wouldnt' be surprised to see Butch last longer than some people think. I think Matthew will be next, unless they decide that they can put up w/ him as long as he keeps fishing like a madman. But his physical prowess will probably negate that and get him voted off.

They've had this type of IC before and I keep wishing that they would change it so that if you get a question right, someone can't chop you that round. It is ludicrous that you can answer the 1st question right and then be immediately eliminated.

I too was not surprised by the elimination of Dave, but I was very surprised by the count. I figured that at least Butch would vote for Matt.

That's what makes the game great - backstabbing.

BTW, I think we all know you don't like Deena by now.

Survivor betting scandal (note: potential spoiler info).

Spoiler:
Sportsbook Claims Insider 'Survivor' Bets

By LYNN ELBER
The Associated Press
Friday, April 4, 2003; 1:42 AM

LOS ANGELES - An online sportsbook said it has dropped betting on CBS' "Survivor" after allegedly finding that network employees were wagering - and winning - on the hit reality show.

The Costa Rica-based BoDog.com found at least two CBS employees betting on the show's outcome, said BoDog spokesman Lance Bradley. The suspicion is they had insider knowledge, he said Thursday.

"We're pretty sure this is the case," Bradley said. The players in question opened accounts with BoDog before "Survivor: Marquesas," the fourth show, and bet only on the show and no other events.

They wagered correctly on who would be the final two contestants in both the fourth and fifth editions of "Survivor," Bradley said. The biggest payoff, $8,000, came on a $1,000 bet placed on the fifth "Survivor" at 8-to-1 odds.

At least two players have been identified as CBS employees and other names may be connected to the network or may be aliases, Bradley said. One person was said by BoDog to work in a "production role" for CBS.

The players' current bets on "Survivor: Amazon" have been canceled and their money refunded, Bradley said. Asked if BoDog might consider legal action, he replied: "It's not something we'd want to pursue, as a matter of precedent."

He wasn't aware of any other possible legal sanctions.

"Only 'The X-Files' has more conspiracy theories than 'Survivor,'" CBS spokesman Chris Ender said. He declined further comment on the allegations, or on any action CBS might take.

BoDog requires that bettors must not have knowledge of an event's outcome. Bradley said that bets taken from those alleged to be with CBS skewed the odds significantly on "Survivor" contestants.

The show narrows the field to two finalists in filmed competitions. The winner is unknown until he or she is chosen in a vote by other contestants during a live broadcast.

For the current "Survivor," the bets in question affected the odds for contestants Jenna Morasca of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Matthew Von Ertfelda of Washington, D.C.

"Throughout the history of 'Survivor,' many have believed they knew the outcome of the show," Ender said. "Some have been right, many have been wrong."

Betting on events other than sports or racing is banned in Las Vegas sportsbooks, a spokeswoman for the Nevada Gaming Control Board said Thursday. Most offshore sportsbooks accept such alternative bets, said BoDog's Bradley.

Odds will be offered on the seventh "Survivor" but all bettors will be carefully monitored, BoDog President Rob Gillespie said in a statement.

Callers to the Bodog.com offices were told that wagers were no longer being accepted on "Survivor," although the Web site late Thursday still displayed a wager on whether the winner would be male or female.

Wasn't there a link in the old thread to some site claiming to have insider information? And listing the order of the finalists? For anyone that actually looked at the spoiler, has it been accurate this week?

Come to think of it, that's probably why the old thread disappeared...

I can't believe everyone voted to boot off Dave, even Butch!

If you're the strongest guy in the individual immunity phase of the game, you'd better win immunity or you're outtathere!

The producers did their valiant best to try (too hard) to convince the viewers that Matt would be going home with all of the "I fear Matt's machetti" comments.

I find it a bit amusing that the women are 2-for-2 in the individual immunity.

This is starting to feel like Survivor in the Marquesas where it's going to be all women in the final 3.

Rob is probably going to be the last "man" standing, but there will be 4 women standing next to him.

Alex or Matt will go next (if one of them gains immunity). Then it'll be the remainder (Matt or Alex) and Butch for the week after next. And then it'll be Rob and the remaining guy. Yawn...

Standing on a perch and answering questions are very tough
challenges !

All the men left their perch early on purpose for food because they thought the men would vote together and they thought they were safe. Otherwise Dave would have won that too.

It is interesting in this stage of the game, how the men seem to be eliminating the other alpha males, while the women just sort of hang back and watch. The immunity challenge was all about eliminating the greatest threat first which is why the women were left standing.

It is probably smart for the other guys to vote out Dave now before he could have started a Colby-like immunity sweep. It would have been smarter for him to throw the reward challenge and not seem like such a strong competitor.

Actually, it would be interesting for a strong guy like that to start laying around and acting hungry and weak so no one is threatened by you, and then come alive in the physical immunity challenges.

I can't wait until Rob starts licking his chops only to find out that all the women have become lesbians and vote him off on the next show.

Not sure why all the complaints about Rob. This season would be a lot less interesting without him. He is unabashedly 'playing' this game unlike anyone since Rich Hatch.

As for last night's immunity challenge, a similar one on Marquesas changed the game completely when a strong alliance tipped its hand and gloated too much causing the rest to band against them.

The "Robfather" from Marquesas played the game pretty fell and was a little bit funnier then this Rob.
