Episode Title: 'The Crossing'
Episode Number: 218

In an attempt to get back control of Enterprise and to have his crew members' lost souls returned to their appropriate bodies, Archer enlists T'Pol's powers of mind control to determine what the aliens really want."

Given the above synopsis, the next amount of information should be no shock:

Wow.

There's still Enterprise threads being created in TV Talk?!?!

[Or perhaps i've just done a good job of ignoring them..]

Those few remaining Trek fans who are glutton for punishment hold on to the teeny-tiny hope that things might actually get better.

And are continually crushed under the Berman/Braga Agenda Bulldozer.

Rogue588 04-02-03 01:05 PM

I hear ya man...I used to be one of them...

To be honest, I have no idea how I kicked it..[I still watch shows that I know I should stop watching..]

BTW...Your sig = Though, I was going to say that you had the order wrong...it should go - Hammer, Berman, Braga..But, then again, B&B are pissing on a 25+ year franchise while Hammer just lies whenever she opens her mouth..:)

I'm couldn't decide who I'm most pissed at, so I just went alphabetical :D

Although I'm going into tonight's episode with about as much faith as usual, I looking forward to the fact that the next 3 episodes after, (and 5 of the next 8) that dont have their marks on them, either in their teleplays or their stories.

cookie cutter episode number 8...already seen it different characters, different time frame, same episode.

tanman 04-02-03 07:30 PM

I am very shocked....not at the episode but the fact that UPN didn't put the scene with Lt. Reed and T'Pol in the previews.

"Are you aware that you are the most attractive female on this ship. Would you mind taking off your clothes. If we are to mate it would be easier with your clothing off."

UPN not using a sexual refrence in a preview!

I was kind of tuning in and out of this episode so I missed some things

why were they hiding on the catwalks? (because they already built the set?)
why did two tiny torpedoes destroy the whole ship?

Nathan Gervais 04-02-03 10:50 PM

It's funny. I started watching some Star Trek: DS9 season two episodes today and I remembered a time when Trek held some degree of interest to me. Sad to see what B&B have done. If it were not for seeing this thread I had all but forgotten Enterprise was still on the air.

In front of the camera answer: the nacelles are lined with some sort of metal that the "wisp" aliens couldn't get through.

Behind the camera answer: what you said.

Because Enterprise doesn't really have powerful enough weapons to take on an opponent of that size and there were only a few minutes left.

As to the episode as a whole: was always told if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

So.....
umm....

Cool FX

lisadoris 04-03-03 01:25 PM

I'm guessing the two torpedoes destroyed the ship because the alien ship was already damaged. But who knows. The only reason I'm still watching the show is in the hopes that one day soon B&B will take their grimy hands off the show. Keep hope alive!

they couldn't get through the metal, but Trip was infected when he went into the nacell with one of those things inside him.

The crew quarters must also be lined with the same metal, yes? (-rolleyes- & -rolleyes-)

Music sucked, royally. I’d like to get a CD of the soundtrack for nights when I’m having trouble getting to sleep.

“…glutton for punishment…” I’ve been called worse. :)

I think this is a sign of the end of things. There’s a direct reference in Revelations, but I can’t seem to find it.

It's my understanding the metal used in the nacelle's needs to be different from crew quarter metal in order to contain the warp co........

Oh, who am I kidding. They just needed a dumb excuse to make use of the catwalk set again.

Red Dog 04-04-03 09:43 AM

Second season : catwalk

as

First season : caves

Deftones 04-04-03 10:02 AM

I didn't find the episode all that bad, though. I thought the "alien" special effects were very, very good.

Wizdar 04-04-03 10:10 AM

Actually, I have to agree. Except, when they went to the catwalk scene, my wife and I looked at each other with a WTF look on our faces, wondering if suddenly we were watching a rerun.

Better, more exciting music could have made this a decent episode, IMO.

No, but the aliens were reluctant to give up their physical hosts, especially when they had no one else to possess because the crew were hiding in the nacelles.

Wouldn't it have been easier though for the possessed trip to quietly sneak off and leave a door open so the wisps could get into the nacelle? As it was, he causes a ruckus as he leaves, the rest of the crew seals the compartment behind him, and he goes off to confront the doctor. Even if he overpowered the doc all he could do is release the rest of the possessed crew but their still sealed off from the nacelles & don't have control of the ship. What to do then???

Trek has fallen fast since "All Good Things".

crankyman 04-04-03 12:04 PM

i watch for the possibility of t'pol in skimpy clothing.

I come to these threads to see if there are any vidcaps of N'pol in skimpy clothing. I won't watch the show for any reason.

Wizdar 04-04-03 02:25 PM

You and cranky need to get a room.

:D

Derrich 04-04-03 02:49 PM

They commited genocide on the aliens, even though everyone that 'went away' claimed to be happy and love the experience, right?

D

tanman 04-04-03 04:34 PM

one of the big symptoms of me not being into this show is (get ready for this VERY geeky statement) that I have no idea what the different parts of the ship are.

Now, come on, I know I'm not the only one here who know's what the "gold dish" on the original enterprise does, where the captain's yacht is on the Enterprise D, or where the retrofitted gun emplacements are on DS9, or why Voyager has nacelles that move into a different position when they go to warp. On this enterprise I don't know anything about this ship. Like what the heck is that bulbous thing that hangs between the nacelles? I'm unfortunately really not into this one.

Or maybe I've matured.....

Nah! can't be that.

Not that it would be a surprise to anyone, but, OK, why do they do that?

And that “bulbous thing that hangs between the nacelles” is one of N’Pol’s boobs. I think.
