Hmm...in light of this new evidence, I retract my retraction!

PacMan2006 08-17-03 12:28 AM

I have a question about the pilot for season 1...How did...(spoilers incoming!)...............

Vic know that his strike teammate was the one who was working with Alceveda to bring him down? I mean, he shot him dead without hesistation, but I still can't quite figure out how he knew and felt so strongly about it to kill the guy immediately.

RolloTomasi 08-17-03 11:35 AM

I always thought that Vic noticed how suspicously the guy was acting back when they were talking at his house - how eager he was to go on the next mission, etc. - which caused him to look deeper. I am guessing that Vic knew long before he killed him that he was a mole.

TK-421 08-18-03 09:37 AM

The Co-Pilot episode I believe answers your question about how he knew, but I'll have to re-watch it again. It takes place right before the pilot episode in terms of dates.

Groucho 08-18-03 09:41 AM

Gilroy tipped him off. It's mentioned in the second episode of the first season.

Giving this thread a bump to end all bumps...

I have been rewatching this season on DVD to prepare myself for the Season 3 premiere next Tuesday. Going through this time, I decided that maybe Laney wasn't bulimic after all.

However, there's a deleted scene for "Scar Tissue" that gives us our answer. Dutch talks to the captain, and tells him that he thinks Laney is bulimic and that it's something to use against her if necessary.

Case closed, I think.

Here's how it ended for the main characters (no spoilers since this thread is about the episode in question)

Vic, Ronnie, Shane, Lemonhead - Lots of money. The look on their face says either a) something is wrong or b) they realize the magnitude of what they've done. There is a spoiler about that in the S3 preview.

Vic - Corrine and the kids moved back into the house. Vic is not going to come visit except he has a visit set up through his and her lawyer. He tells Corrine that she and the kids won't have to worry about money; they'll be taken care of.

Dutch - Stuck investigating the scene of the money train.

Claudette - Promoted to police captain. Still hates Vic and team.

Julian - Not dead (yet, at least). He was just beat up really bad, thanks to his blanket party.

Danny - Victim of the cuts due to the Armadillo incident

Aceveda - Won the Democratic primary. Since the area is mostly democratic, he will win the City Council job in the general election.

Tavon - Accepted as a part of the team, except possibly by Shane who still has doubts. Seems to fit right in with the toe-the-line attitude (formerly) expresseed by the team.

The guys that beat up Julian and showed all the homophobia in the station - Fired for cause.

Groucho 03-08-04 11:36 AM

Note that Acevada holds on to his Captain job for six months until he is (assumedly) elected to the council. Wyms doesn't take the job until then.

Which isn't revealed until the start of season 3, I do believe. You may want to spoiler that up. I'll delete this comment if you do.

Jeremy517 03-08-04 11:49 AM

I don't think you have to spoiler that. The television newscast that Vic and Shane at the end of the finale says that Acevada will win because the area is something like 85% Democratic and Claudette tells Vic that the real question is whether he can handle working for her.

But if you two delete yours, I'll delete this also.

No, the comment I was talking about is that Acavedo doesn't give up the captain's job for 6 months. I know that is a spoiler, because I read the same spoiler filled article in EW.

Jeremy517 03-08-04 11:58 AM

Ah ok. I misunderstood. I guess that is a spoiler, but it should be deduced since there is time between the primary and the general election.

Groucho 03-08-04 12:03 PM

I didn't read any article in EW. I've done NO reading for Season 3 whatsoever, because I want to avoid spoilers. I know nothing about what's going to happen in the season.

The "Six Months" thing is spelled out in Season 2, that's where I got the information. It's the deal the Chief makes with Acevada in the limo.

Patman 03-09-04 08:24 AM

I've finally caught up with both seasons of The Shield these past few months. The nightly episodes for season 2 gave me plenty of momentum into getting very interested in tonight's season 3 premiere. Woo hoo!

Same here. Thank you F/X for replaying the first 2 seasons.

Another thank you to F/X for doing encore broadcasts at 11 for the new episodes. 10 pm Tuesday is a busy timeslot for me already.

Geofferson 03-09-04 09:17 AM

Hats off to FX from me as well. I watched their reruns of both seasons - can't wait for S3 premiere tonight!!!

hope you haven't watched fx recently (non stop Shield promos.)

Groucho 03-09-04 09:21 AM

I've seen some of the promos, but they haven't given anything away.

cdoug57 03-09-04 10:41 AM

Really ready for this show to return.
Eagerly awaiting resolution of all the existing "cliffhanger" plot points.

BT 03-09-04 02:56 PM

Oh yes, Season 3 here we come! :)

Rypro 525 03-14-04 11:19 PM

damn, my tape cut out during the lingering shot of Vic staring at the thing of money. what else happened in the montage. I dont remeber if Julian gettting the crap beat out of him was in it or during the episode.

Julian had his blanket party in the season 2 finale.

Rypro 525 03-14-04 11:29 PM

figured but was his beating at the end montage with the Live song playing in the background, or was it during the epsiode.

Copenhagen 03-14-04 11:29 PM

During the end montage.
