American Idol - 3/18/03 - Film Themes
Film themes, eh? I smell a Diane Warren nightmare in the making. 2 hours again plus likely non-stop promotion of From Justin to Kelly? I ... can't ... wait. [oops ... I think I spilled some sarcasm]

I guess for discussion purposes, what song would you sing, or what song would you like to hear?
I'd have to sing a little Eee-O Eleven from Ocean's Eleven and I'd like to hear anything from before 1992 that wasn't written by Diane Warren.

P.S. I don't know why they're drooling over Corey; he was all over the place for the first 2.5 minutes.

Someone PLEASE kill Randy, Paula and Gladys. What kind of friggin critique is that. Why not just kiss Corey and the other contestants' asses. At least Simon has a pair of ears.

Typo or not, I love it.
Another average performance praised by the "Yes (Wo)men."
... patiently awaiting someone attempting to sing Parton's "I Will Always Love You" ...

Is that Gladys Knight or Miss Cleo?
"I see big things for you in the contempory music world."
"You will be the first velvet teddy bear."
"You are destined for such great things."
... I want to start a pool, who here thinks that Rueben's first album will be title 205?

Clay sounded great, although he lost control a bit near the end and again on the final note.

That last chick... I forget her name... oh yeah, Kimberley Caldwell... ouch, seems like she shouted the whole thing and growled...
I don't like her anyway...
She should be a pole dancer or a lounge singer... cross Wayne Newton and a showgirl! Yup that's her!

Quick ... who's more pathetic: Kristen from AI or Josh from Tough Enough?
I agree about Kimberly as a pole dancer. I don't dislike her or anything ... I'd just like to see her as a pole dancer. [crude remark about "pole" withheld]

Kimberly Caldwell: fake fake fake fake fake.
If there is any justice, she will be at an amusement park performing in a few weeks. Or a wedding.

O.K. Carmen sounded like Catherine O'Hara's "Lola Heatherton" from SCTV.

Simon, you want to know how Diane Warren writes her songs? Hmm ... go to www.dianewarren.com, click the Downloads icon, and choose "Theme Churning Machine 2.4." Make sure you get version 2.4, though. 2.3 is the one James Horner uses, and you wouldn't want to get stuck with the Titanic/Braveheart/Apollo 13/Legends of the Fall score. Besides, I think Horner owns the rights for the next 4 reproductions of that score.

I really didn't like Corey Clark or Charles Grigsby. Kimberley Caldwell and Carmen were ok. Joshua Gracin sang the song the same as Mark Chesnutt (who did take it to number one on the country charts), and I liked it (I really like country). Even though I really don't like Trenyce, she did a great job. The top two so far were no doubt Ruben and Clay (I would put Ruben ahead of Clay).
