New Ed Tonight?
Anyone know? I doubt it :(
|
If it's even on tonight, NBC may substitute a repeat. It was scheduled to be a new one.
http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/goose.jpg Honk! |
they've been advertising it so much i doubt they'll pull it for anything but preemp...this just in iraq is under attack news at 11. now back to your regular postingage...this episode looks pretty good.
|
Scrubs was new last night, so I'm pretty sure they'll show a new Ed.
|
I just saw an ad for a new Ed last night. The war had already started, so they're definitely going to show it. The main question is will your local affiliate show it? There will probably be a couple out there that preempt it
|
from the nbc site: World's Talented Kid and ED will be pre-empted and will air NEXT friday.
i think nbc will be airing repeats of L&O Criminal Intent instead due to the likelihood of interruptions of war coverage. this is a bummer BUT i think it actually may be better since war coverage is priority these days. another week of anticipation for the next ED! |
god damn. what will happen to next wednesday's programming? i thought west wing was suppose to come back. arg
|
i don't know anymore because someone just told me they saw promos for both shows to air tonight. be safe, than sorry.....just watch and find out.
besides, access hollywood is on now....if they don't preempt that, there should be no need to preempt ED, for chrissssakes! |
What happened on NBC? They just said that the kids thing was postponed until next week, but I didn't catch what they said about Ed. They said something about a new episode, but I don't know if they said that it would be on after the Iraq report, or if it would be on next week.
Does anyone know? |
Forget it. It won't be on.
Just found this at the NBC website: Tonight's Programs Preempted "Tonight's premiere of America's Most Talented Kid and the original episode of Ed will air next Friday. " |
takamine posted it ^ why do they continue with the ads for it, then?
|
It was weird... at 9:30 PM, they were still airing ads for people to "watch for Ed as it moves to it's new night this week, Fridays at 9 PM." Oh well, as long as I didn't miss anything!

Very Good Ed Review!
Found this review for tonight's (err, next week's) show in the Detroit Free Press!
'Ed' shines as a show in a class of its own March 21, 2003 BY MIKE DUFFY FREE PRESS TV WRITER Just like the upbeat title character he plays on "Ed," Tom Cavanagh prefers to look on the sunny side of his unpredictable Hollywood life. So NBC's moving his screwball romantic comedy to 9 p.m. Fridays starting tonight? No biggie, says the star. It's just like when the native Canadian and lifelong sports nut was playing basketball in college. "I don't care if the game is Wednesday or Friday or whether it's 8 o'clock or 9 o'clock," says Cavanagh. "I just want to play." But clearly NBC's decision to shift "Ed" from 8 p.m. Wednesdays to 9 p.m. Fridays beginning tonight (assuming it's not preempted for war coverage) is potentially a big deal. If the ratings don't display some renewed pep in the show's new home on Fridays, these final three episodes of its third season may be the last. And that would be a real shame. The sly, eccentric tales of Stuckeyville, Ohio, bowling alley lawyer Ed Stevens (Cavanagh) and his on-again, off-again romantic tango with high school teacher Carol Vessy (Julie Bowen) have often recalled the witty, offbeat charms of "Northern Exposure." But series creators Rob Burnett and Jon Beckerman have also given "Ed" its own uniquely loopy spin, populating Stuckeyville with a happily motley crew of friendly, oddball humanity. OK, maybe that pushy scam artist and Stuckeybowl manager Phil Stubbs (Michael Ian Black) isn't so charming. He's a silly pest. But at least Burnett and Beckerman have skewered the foolish Stubbs this season, giving him a wry, irreverent rival in Eli (Darryl "Chill" Mitchell), the bowling alley's shrewd new staffer. But the Planet Stuckeyville still revolves around the quixotic exploits of its central character, cockeyed optimist Ed Stevens. "He's your hopeful romantic," 34-year-old Cavanagh says of his legal eagle alter ego. "This is a guy who takes an emotional hit and, instead of turning inward, he just moves forward." Though he's been dating fellow attorney Frankie (Sabrina Lloyd) recently, it looks like the Ed and Carol love light is turning on again. "They really want to re-amp that story line, they want to put on the heat for the end of the season," says Cavanagh, who could find himself torn between two lovers. But momentarily at least, Carol will be distracted by the charms of guest star Chris Isaak, the handsome rock 'n' roller who pops up as a hot new teacher at Stuckeyville High tonight. Thanks to the well-written blessings of a gentle comic soul and whimsical heart, "Ed" isn't like anything else on television right now. It's both low-key and overflowing with a joy for life's little mysteries. As a result, "Ed" bops along to its own unique, laid-back entertainment rhythms. And that's a quirky quality to be treasured. "We're the sort of show that can make you laugh and make you feel," says Cavanagh. "That's a good thing. And it's a rarity." Let's just hope there's a little Stuckeyvlle ratings magic out there somewhere for "Ed" on Friday nights. Otherwise we may lose that good thing. |

Instead of "Ed" we get that cop show with Pvt. Pyle. Oh well, maybe the anticipation will boost next week's ratings. http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/goose.jpg Honk! |
like i said in another thread, even though they didn't show one tonight, i am GLAD that they didn't and here is why. this show is on the bubble and needs all the ratings that it can get. thankfully, they didn't put this new show up as a sacrifice up against not only the war coverage but the ncaa tourney as well. if they decide to preempt it next week it may be good too. the less big stuff our beloved ed has going against it the better (at least until the renewal notice arrives).
|
but if it is preempted too long it might not even get to finish the season. i am with you, though the less it has running against it the better.

My local affiliate actually aired the Most Talented Kid thing, as well as new Ed last night (they were scheduled to be on Friday night). I taped Ed, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. The Kids show has Maria Lopez hosting, and Sisqo, Lance Bass, and Maureen McCormick as judges. I only saw the last couple of minutes of it, and really wasn't very impressed.
Can't wait to see this Ed! |

I just watched Ed, and here is my honest opinion on the episode:
THIS WAS THE BEST EPISODE OF ED EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD! After this episode, I really hope and pray that it gets picked up again next season, because this particular show was phenomenol, IMO. I will spoiler the following, but I am not going to give too much away. Spoiler:
Now I have to wait God knows how long to see the next one. In the words of Charlie Brown, "Argh!". So, just wondering, who do you all think was in the knight suit after all? |
Damn, I have to wait 'till next Friday.
|
SPOILERS! I WANT THEM!
|
must not highlight spoiler, must not highlight spoiler.
|
Trust me, there is nothing in my spoiler. It is more like a description that you would see in TV Guide. I could give a very detailed breakdown of the episode, including who was really in the suit, but I won't! I know if it was me, I wouldn't be able to resist the spoiler, so I won't give any of you the temptation. :)
|
Tease! I want to know who's in the suit! :) There's really nothing "spoiled" in the spoiler, as movieking said, just a list of the people involved in each of the three storylines and a vague description of them.
|
I know who was in the suit! :hump:
Wanna know who it was? :eyebrow: Wait until Friday! Someone should start a poll and see who most people think is going to be in the suit. I would do it, but I am lazy. |
Well I'm just glad to know it's airing next Friday. I was pissed when I went to play it on my ReplayTV and saw Law and Order. Stupid networks moving good shows to Friday. Now Grounded for Life is there. I'm used to not watching TV on Fridays because there's never anything on.
|
roto: you don't know it is airing friday. no one knows. tv is all ****ed up now that war is on. i hope it does show.
as for my thoughts on the suit (which i did not know there was a suit until reading this thread, thanks fellahs -rolleyes-): it is carol or if it isn't carol ed still ends up with carol with some sort of cheese like "it was always you". movieking, i hate to ask, but i'd appreciate you post very carefully about the guess(es), as many of us could probably read through your tone/subtext what really happened. thanks :) |

Originally posted by movieking I have no idea what you are talking about. Even before I saw the episode, I was thinking that a poll should be done about who people thought was actually in the suit. If you are saying that by my mentioning that in a thread somehow implies who was there, then you are reading something into it that really was not there (since the idea came before I even knew)... |
OK, I got what you are saying. Sorry for the confusion.
Don't worry, I won't say a thing about anyone's guesses. This episode was simply too good to spoil! |

well, i just rewatched last week's episode and i absolutely cannot wait for this week. i have my theories about the suit but i will wait another 47 hours to see if they are anywhere near correct.
that being said, words cannot express how :( and  i will be if this show gets canned. after a long stretch of so-so with dennis, stuckeyville has come roaring back in the last few weeks. it would be an absolute shame if it had to stop. |

I'm wondering if I'll even get to see last week's episode. The promo I saw last night didn't look like it was the same episode, they may have just skipped it...lame :(
