3 more guest hosts next week for Letterman

The cbs site and media reports say that Dave will have 3 more guest hosts next week followed by reruns on Thursday and Friday. Hopefully, Dave will be back the following week, but the show and staff "could" shut down and do one more week of reruns if Letterman still needs more time to rest.

The guest hosts and their guests are scheduled to be:

Monday, March 17
Guest Host Brad Garrett
Cuba Gooding, Jr. (Boat Trip)
Julie Bowen (Ed)
Comic, Reggie McFadden
Lyle Lovett

Tuesday, March 18
Guest Host Tom Dreesen
Kiefer Sutherland (24)
Connie Nielsen (The Hunted)
Comic, Suzanne Westenhoefer
The Music

Wednesday, March 19
Guest Host Bonnie Hunt
Barbara Walters
Houston Rockets' Eddie Griffin
Comic, Greg Fitzsimmons

Brad Garrett has that annoying voice but he's a pretty funny guy and quick-witted which helped Vince do so well. He's also prone to saying things without thinking which might make him an enjoyable host. But he's got some good guests, including the ridiculously hot Julie Bowen, which is a huge help.

Tom Dreesen is not a guy I want to see guest hosting, but he is pretty funny and with Kiefer AND Connie, he really doesn't need to do much.

I love Bonnie. She's so funny and charming that I'd watch her do the show with no guests at all. I don't think she'll top Vince, but I predict now that she'll end up having done the second best job once the guest hosting is over. I like Barbara Walters, but they really didn't give Bonnie anything close to the level of guests for the other hosts. However, Barbara and Bonnie are both close to Letterman (which probably means a lemon tree for them on holidays), so maybe the two will get in some jokes and personal stories about Dave.

This guest host thing is really pretty fun.

Man, they really stuck Bonnie Hunt with some bad guest...maybe that's cause they trust her with sub-par guest.

Who's Tom Dreesen?

Julie Bowen and Connie Nielsen are on this week! Sweetness...

I think Bonnie Hunt could have two or three corpses as guests and still make it enjoyable.

Unless I'm mistaken Tom Dreesen is a stand-up comic who has been around for a l o n g time.

Well, Duh!!!

Of course we want him back, but guest hosts are better than reruns and especially better than Leno.

I won't argue w/ you on that point. At least Dave Chapelle is an excellent guest and kept at least part of the show entertaining.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Dave Chapelle guest host. He'd probably get the show cancelled mid-airing

Monday looks like it should be a goodt show even for people who don't like Brad Garret because the guest list is rock solid. I think he'll be good because he is very quick as dolphinboy said. I'd watch it for Lyle Lovett alone.

Wednesday, March 19
Guest Host Bonnie Hunt
Barbara Walters
Houston Rockets' Eddie Griffin
Comic, Greg Fitzsimmons

Major correction here: It was Eddie Griffin, the actor/comedian.
Carson Daly (Late Night/MTV) was also a guest, filling in for Barbara Walters.

God dammit, my CBS station (which sucks beyond belief and is owned by Clear Channel Satan MegaCorp) is just passing through a CNN feed. Of course, it's only at 50% size and has a massive CBS 46 logo and WGCL Atlanta crap pasted all over the corners of the screen.

My god, Bonnie is so great! I love that she cleared up her relationship with Dave.

She's slept with him, but they never dated. "He's too busy and commitment-phobic."

Damn. Bonnie Hunt owned. And since she's great every time she's a guest I know it wasn't beginners luck. EVERY segment and guest was incredible. 2 minutes into the Carson Daly interview I was wishing that Dave would drop dead and Bonnie would somehow become the permanent host. She was great with Eddie Griffen, she was great with the chef. Her show on ABC has about 2 percents of the quailty she had last night.

I thought Brad Garrett did a decent job on Monday night. He really wasn't that bad. Did anybody see Tuesday night w/ Tom Dreesen? I taped it, but I think I taped over it last night w/out watching it - doh! How did Connie Nielsen look? I taped last night's ep w/ Bonnie and will watch it when I get home. I didn't care who her guests were because it wouldn't really matter w/ her running the show.

Bonnie was offered Rosie O'Donnell's show before Caroline Rhea got it, but she turned it down. They aren't even showing Caroline in my area anymore. Too bad, because I like her too, but Bonnie probably could've made it last.

i put bonnie at the best guest host now. excellent show. she worked great with paul before the first break, with carson and with eddie whom i doubt she had much to talk about with in the first place.

current rankings:
bonnie hunt
vince vaughn
elvis costello
bruce willis

I really don't know who Bonnie Hunt is. I've never seen her show. I know she was on a show a few years ago, but I can't remember what it was.

Either way, she was great as host!

You haven't seen Jumanji or Beethoven?

You might remember her playing Renee Zellweger's sister in Jerry Maguire or as the wife of Tom Hanks in The Green Mile. She's also really good in Only You with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

Letterman never did shows on Thursdays and Fridays when there where NCAA Tourney games. So, even if there wasn't a war, Dave would not have been back this week.

My guess is that Bonnie is applying the ointment to Dave right now.
