Dumbest game show moments
I've been watching Price is Right on my break at work for a while now, and I think I've seen some people do many stupid things, but is it just me or are people getting dumb and dumber? I have to wonder if Bob Barker goes home and cries over how stupid people are on his show.
In the past couple days, I've seen people in contestent's row who have no clue what they are doing wrong. In one episode, some woman bid $800 and the guy after her, the last one to bid, bid $799. The woman who bid the $800 won, and the guy probably never figured out why he was so stupid and deserved to go home with the Rice A Roni. But today I saw the worst, the dumbest moment I think I have ever seen on Price is Right in my life. It was another contestants row bid, and the first guy to bid on I forget what yells out, "ONE DOLLAR." You are the first bidder DUMB ASS. Even Bob is like, "ooooohhhkay, if that's what you want." The next person bid $475, the person after that bid something like $550, and the last person bid $2. What was the point of the dollar bid? Did he think nobody was going to crack that strategy? Did I miss something? Was he trying to deliberately be a moron? Oh, and the item wound up being $535. I was so hoping the $2 bid would have won. |
What's always boggled my monkey-brain is the people on <I>Let's Make a Deal</I>.
They pick a door. Monte then shows them the goat behind one of the doors and gives them a chance to stay or switch ... and people actually STAY!?!?! I know winning a goat would impress your friends, but doubling your chances to win a car could buy a lot of goats. Christ ... these must be the same people that went on <I>Wheel of Fortune</I> and selected XZQJV-U in the final round (before RSTLN-E was standard). das |

Jeopardy!, full of what one can assume are pretty smart folks, has some real head scratchers on Final Jeopardy bidding sometimes, usually from the person that is in second place, but can't be caught by the third place person. Entering Final Jeopardy in second place, and more than double third place, the only way one can assume you will win is if the first place person misses. So the second place person's bid is largely irrelevant. But by bidding an ungodly sum, which would cause them to lose by a $1 if both first and second get it right, they also force themselves to answer correctly, in addition to the first place person missing. Example. first place: $6000 second place: $4500 third place: $500 If I'm in second, I can pretty much figure that first place is going to bid $3001. So first place wins no matter what I do if they answer correctly. Yet, more often than not, the second place person will bid $4500 (or $4499), and sit there stunned as both first place and second place miss the question. If they had sat on their cash and bid nothing they would win. But they rarely do. And these are smart folks. |
How about the people on Hollywood Squares and Tic Tac Dough who did not know the fundamentals of Tic Tac Toe.

Another set of game show dummies are the Press Your Luck greedy bastards. They have something like $15K and 5 or more spins and the next person has something like $2K. They keep spinning even though if they pass, the 2nd place person has to make 5 straight passes w/o whammying which is very unlikely. These greedy bastards always end up blowing it.

It's now published by the Benjamin Franklin Literary and Medical Society; Curtis sold it in 1982 Nobody got it, how dense are these people??? |

Another thing about Price is right bidding.
Say the bids are 1: 400 2: 600 3: 800 If you're last and are going to bid in between two people, do it at one dollar more than the lower of the two. In this case 401, 601. If you're going to outbid everyone, bid one dollar more than the highest (801). I can't believe people don't figure this out. I got to see the show a couple times last week for the first time in a long time. It was frustrating nad laughable watching people bid. |

BTW, perhaps the saddest showing I've ever seen was in the beginning of WWTBAMillionaire's run. It was a very early question and some MD (as in four years of college, good enough to get into four years of med school, etc) from Westchester who had already wasted his lifelines on easier question could not name the President of the Confederacy. And it wasn't just nerves 'cause this guy was one arrogant SOB; he just had no clue.
I don't care how little you know about history; how could a guy with that much formal learnin' not know that??? We're not talking some foreign leader or some Civil War general (other than Grant and Lee) or a pivotal battle here, we're talking a freakin' President right here in the US of A....... |

Also, there are no ties as in the end, the person with the most squares wins the round. So, basic strategy in tic tac toe does matter but it is a bit more complicated. Still, some of these contestants are brain-dead when the c- celebrities give a completely stupid answer. |

Each celebrity has a set of questions and they know the answers and can decide whether or not to give you the right answer. I don't even think this should be qualified as a game show. At least that is what I was told... I just remember the funny gameshow outtakes for the dumbest game show moment. This old guy was playing the final round of the British version of the Family Feud. They were about 60 points away from winning. Q: Name something you take with you to the beach? A: turkey. Q: Name the 1st thing you would buy at the supermarket? A: turkey Q: Name a food that can be stuffed? A: turkey. The look on the son's face was a mixture of RAGE and exasperation. |

I remember a man on WWTBAM who missed the first question.
It was about a nursery rhyme, and he picks the wrong answer, and Regis just has this look on his face, can't believe the guy didn't know it, and asks is that your final answer? Yes. NEXT! And I didn't see this one myself, but I've heard about it. On the Newlywed Game, the host asks a woman "What is the most exotic place you and your husband have made love?" "In my butt," she answers. rotfl |
I remember watching <b>Family Feud</b> (not sure I spelled it right) but anyways...
One family has like 250 pts on the board and and gets control of the Triple round...with a very low points question... like 12 or something... So they decide to "Play" (which is the smart thing to do) ****at this point, if they intentionally ditch the question, there is NO WAY they could lose because there would not be enough points availible on the board**** these idiots answer questions, run the point total up...then they do miss one, then the other family steals the question, and wins the game. If they had missed the question right off the bat, they would have won. IDIOTS! |

Or on the Ten Chances game...where they give you 3, 4, or 5 numbers and you use the marker to pick the numbers and write down the correct price...hello morons...EVERY RIGHT PRICE IN THIS GAME ENDS IN ZERO!!!! It has since the beginning of time, that's the trick! Oh, and then there was this guy on Wheel of Fortune who solved the puzzle "SOONER STATE" (the category was CLUE) and didn't know the answer was "OKLAHOMA"...
